Found a good interview where Hunter reiterates he is "bulking up" even though he already weighs 215 lbs. To bad the interviewer didn't beg the question to why the hell 215 lbs isn't already big enough for a RB and 100 meter stud of 6 foot 1 tall.

Interview with Hunter Furr
By Ben Hovis / March 25, 2009 6:02 PM
Q. Hunter, the first question I have to ask is how did it feel winning the 100m National title last year in Greensboro?
A. Total elation! It was one of the most exciting moments in my life. It was especially exciting to win the National title in front of the home crowd in Greensboro, NC. Finally, it was an honor just to compete against National caliber sprinters.
Q. I know football is a big part of your life, but did winning at Nike Outdoors open any new doors for you?
A. You are correct football is my sport. I began running track to prepare myself for football. After I won the Nike Outdoor Nationals, a number of college coaches from big time programs approached me about running track in college. I may run track at UNC, but I think of myself as a Tarheel football player.
Q. What are the big meets you are most looking forward to this outdoor season?
A. Definitely Taco Bell, there is always some great competition there, Penn Relays, and of course the regionals and the state meet. I hope to run in some of the post high school season meets like Nike Outdoors and Golden West.
Q. Is there any one particular athlete in North Carolina who you really look forward to racing?
A. The two guys I can't wait to race are Torrance Hunt and Fuquan Greene because they beat me indoors when I was out of shape, and I always do better in the 100 than the 55.
Q. You've been on the North Carolina scene for quite some time now, at Forsyth Country Day and now at Mount Tabor, what has been your favorite moment during your track career?
A. Winning the Nike Nationals was fun, but I'm going to have to say my 10th grade year winning the 100, 200, 4x100 and running down a kid in the 4x200 to win 4 state championships in the NCISAA division.
Q. What are your plans for the future? Football, track, or both?
A. I am totally committed to being the best football player I can be at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I hope to run track there also. I recognize that at some point my weight may become an issue for running track. Right now, I am weighing about 215 lbs., and I expect to gain more weight at Chapel Hill.
Q. After winning the 100m title last year at Nike Outdoors, what are your goals this season? How fast do you want to go?
A. I want to get the 4A NCHSAA 100m title and then of course defend my Nike title in the 100. I think if everything falls into place I can break 10.3 in the 100. Fuquan is going to go sub twenty one so I'm going to try to run with him in the 200. I'm looking forward to pushing each other to fast times.
Q. You've run indoors and outdoors at many distance, and even long jumped some . . . what is your favorite event to compete in?
A. The 100 is definitely my favorite event. I think it is my signature event, the small guys normally get out on me out of the blocks, so I've been working on my start everyday. If I can get out with those quick guys it's over.
Q. Ok, the ink? Does the ink have a special meaning to you?
A. My tattoo is a cross with wings with my parent's names around it. It represents my faith and family.
Q. Is there anything that people should know about you that most probably don't?
A. Well most people know I run a 10.4 100m dash but I do it weighing 215 pounds and power clean 350 pounds, bench press 350 pounds and I have a black belt in Tae Kwon Do.
Q. As an athlete, who has been your biggest inspiration?
A. My dad has always bought workout equipment, hired the best coaches for me and even trained me on his own.
Great interview Hunter. Good luck at the Taco Bell. See you at State and hopefully before then for some work.

My take: This kid will never get carries- if 215 lbs at 6'1 isn't big enough. I'd say 200-230 lbs would be an ideal weight for an ACC RB at that height- so Hunter should play on the lower end of that range, since he wants to run track and speed is his game even more than power.
Hunter is a one or two cut and accelerate (cut-back/north-south type RB) RB. There are plenty of RBs in the FBS with the same style as Hunter, but VERY few "if any"- with that style- have his speed. Hunter can make the first guy miss pretty well while he accelerates after getting the hand off. He slides and when the hole opens up he bursts through "like a bat out of hell". He can break arm tackles while barreling through the hole as well. With Hunter's 4.32 40 time and 10.4x 100 mtr speed- when he sees a crack he can be gone. No one will catch him when he sees daylight in the second level and he can be used for end arounds as well.
Hunter should start for NC as a true freshman in a fair world- with a backup scatback behind him- because no RB was impressive at all for NC last year. Hopefully Butch(er) "the white athlete" Davis will quit coaching if NC stinks next year. Hunter is a fool for ruining his track and football career to play for CERTAINLY a top 5 caste a$$hole coach- in all of the FBS.
