High Schoolers

Camden Capehart won the Texas 3A 100m state championship with a time of 10.14 (3.7w).
It was a dominant performance with 2nd place over 2 tenths behind in 10.36.
 
Someone to keep an eye on . . . Eleanor Kazanjian, a Freshman, finished 2nd in Texas 4A 100m hurdles finals.
Her time was 13.49 with 2.1w.
 
Cooper Lutkenhaus, the 800m prodigy out of Texas, won the Texas 6A 800m title in 1:47.04.
That's the fastest high school time in the country, and Cooper is just a sophomore!

Additionally he ran the 400m at the Texas State Championships 2 hours later, and came in 2nd.
His time was 46.30; that's the 11th fastest time in the country.

So an incredible one day 400m-800m double!
And he's a 16 year old sophomore.

My God, 46.30/1:47.04 for a 16 year old sophmore!?! That is outstanding. Prodigy is an apt term.

Dierenfield was injured for much of the Spring, but will be attending Tennessee in the Fall.
 
his 10.44 100m is not super fast but the 60m time is very good. His physique is like a football running back.
 
Well, remember he was injured for most of the season.
If not, his time would have probably come down.
 
jacknyc, agreed his injury would have slowed his training and progress, hopefully he can get that 100m time down to 10.20 by year end, if he can then he has serious chance of getting down to the very low 10's i.e. 10.10 or faster.
 
Jack Stadlman won the CIF Southern Section (California) 400m final, with a great time of 46.27.
 
Just a few quick notes from the California HS Championships . . .

Jack Stadlman won the 400m in a great time of 46.09.
Leo Francis won the LJ (25ft-3/4"), Brandon Gorski was 3rd, and Kaleb Pleis was 4th. I bet it's been a very long time since white jumpers did so well at the State Championships.

There are still many finals to come this evening.

The twin sisters, Makenna and Morgan Herbst are both State Champions!
Makenna won the 800m in a great time of 2:02.28. 2nd place was a full 5 seconds behind in 2:07.33!!
Then about 30 minutes later, Morgan won the 300m hurdles in a meet record time of 39.64. She is only the 3rd high school girl ever to run under 40 seconds.
What a fantastic duo!!
 
Jayden Rendon won the 300m Hurdles.
400m winner, Jack Stadlman, took 2nd in the 200m, losing a close race, 20.79 to 20.82.
Long Jump winner, Leo Francis, took 3rd in a close 20.84.
Lelani Laruelle and Jillene Wetteland tied for 1st place with a transgender athlete(!) in the Girls High Jump.
Joshua Harel won the Boys High Jump.

Makenna's 800m time is the 2nd fastest in the country this year.
Morgan's 300m hurdles time is the 2nd fastest time ever. Only Sydney McLaughlin has run faster.

The twin sisters will be attending Arkansas next year.
 
A kid named Grant Valley won the 100m and 200m at the Oregon State T&F Championships.
His times were 10.36 (1.0w) and 21.15 (0.1). Both are State Meet Records. Micah Willams was the previous record holder in both events.

Fantastic performances, even more so, considering he was out last year with a broken leg, and the year before with a hamstring injury.

Jesuit sprinter crushes state record in the 200

For the first time, an Oregon high schooler has run under 21 seconds in the 200-meter sprints.

Another HSer to note: Natalie Dumas of New Jersey.
She recently won the 400m, the 400m hurdles, and the 800m at the NJ Meet of Champions. An amazing feat! and she's just a junior.
A few weeks earlier she tied Sydney McLaughlin's state record in the 400m, 51.87. That's the #2 time in the country.
She has #3 time in the country in the 800m, and the #2 time in the country in the 400m hurdles!
 
According to the article he’s committed to playing football at Southern Oregon University. It’s a shame his focus isn’t on track, but maybe he will have a chance to transfer to a division 1 program and possibly make the NFL. It’s always a gamble as you need to be running 9.8’s to make the American track team, but making the NFL is an equally daunting task made even worse by attending a small school. Speed alone doesn’t help whitey make the NFL as evidenced by guys like Cole Beck.
 
Jordan Gross of Ohio, has the 9th fastest 200m time in the country - 20.66.
He also won the state championship this weekend in 20.73.

Cooper Lutkenhaus just broke the HS National Record in the 800m, with a time of 1:46.26.
That's an amazing time.....and let's remember he just finished his sophomore year of high school!
A true prodigy.
