Wow, two of the most inane posts I've ever seen outside of trolls from a Guru and a Hall of Famer. Both with white in their usernames.

White DB, you go that corner and think about what you said. And you, white is right, you go to the blackboard and write "I will not advocate giving the police state even more power" a thousand times.

the "guru" simply stole a piece from one of Chris Rock's stand up comedy about stopping drive bys or at least making sure no innocent people were hit. Real funny.........hope he knows that is sarcasm.

as Jaxvid noted, using that as an actual solution is ridiculous. It is easy to make your own bullets.

Wanting police to "snatch" people off the street for a "cooling off period" is one of the scariest things I have heard on this site. Yup that's just what everyone wants, empower the multi-cult govt and their obedient thugs to snatch up anyone that someone (and who would that be?) feels is acting "suspicious".

I thought that from reading CF you would have picked up on the idea that these types of unfortunate and rare tragedies are often used as an excuse to snatch freedom away from the rest of us.

Great post. The same mentality you're critiquing allowed the U.S. to become a police state after 9/11 in the name of "protecting our freedoms." No matter who one thinks was behind 9/11, the fact remains that the average person has a better chance of being electrocuted in a bathtub or hit by an asteroid than they do of being killed by a terrorist. Same with the school shootings, it's a horrible and senseless and unspeakable tragedy that occurred in Connecticut, but the average student still has a better chance of winning the state lottery (or more accurately his parents) than being gunned down at school.

Whipping up hysteria and demanding "cures" ahead of time for unpreventable tragedies
is far scarier than the problem and is a combination of Orwellianism and the movie Minority Report. The U.S. is a highly dysfunctional society and the psychos who go out in a "blaze of glory" are merely a glaring symptom of a failed experiment in multiracialism and Cultural Marxism.

Guns

The problem is is that the US has massive gun ownership (by FAR the biggest in the developed world), and along with by FAR the highest gun crime rate. How ever you look at it, this IS a problem.

Do you really want to live in a country where teachers carry guns?

If the teachers had guns a lot of young lives would have been saved. A gun is a tool. Nothing more, nothing less. A gun is no better, or worse than the man who carries it.

The Swiss seem to be doing just fine with their lax gun laws. I think it has nothing to do with guns, gun laws, etc and everything to do with the people and government.

Arming teachers isn't the answer, nor is leaving guns only in the hands of criminals and militarized police. The problems are forced multiculturalism, multiracialism, Cultural Marxism, feminism, soulless consumerism and materialism, isolationism, alienation, apathy, rogue unaccountable government, the constant portrayal of extreme violence and death, a digustingly perverted "popular culture," and on and on. The sicknesses are too many to list; which is why the Second Amendment must be protected at all costs.

Yes they can be but I would want provisions where you would get out within maybe 24 hours. Nothing is perfect but something has to be done stop morons having acess to weapons. PS the VA Tech wingnut was clearly institutional and the Arizona whackadoo was too. In both cases people feared them because of their obvious borderline insanity.

I was friends with a "buddy " that brought a pellet gun to school. The teacher that caught him with the gun handled the weapon like it was used condom found outside of a bordello. She was the exact type of person that Don was describing and she would be a danger to herself and others firing even a .22 caliber like what various saloon girls had in their belts in various westerns.

that's the reality of it.. the root problem isn't an inanimate tool, it's the presence of evil and perversity in our world. This sh-t was inconceivably evil.. but evil has always been part of the human condition.. in every culture & every time frame. People are naive if they think disarming everyone, will somehow eradicate (or even mitigate) insane, evil behavior.

I feel like only God knows why sh-t like this can transpire, & we'll never get a satisfactory explanation,.. any reason God offered is still too depressing to comprehend (?)

Well said, Don. I remember when kids would show off their new shotgun in the school parking lot. Guns were often easily viewed through the glass of a pick-up window every school day. We had no gun violence - unless you count dead deer as violence. Fast forward a short 25 years and a squat team would be called out for the mire sight of a gun. What has changed in that short amount of time isn't the guns; it's all the things you listed and separated with commas that created this disfunctional society constantly hell-bent on treating the symptoms while ignoring the diseases.

in switzerland you can't have a gun like that :biggrin1:
when you do your mandatory weapon training in the army you can keep the gun, but you must keep it in your house, you can't go out with it

but you're right, switzerland is not more violent than france for example where guns are forbidden

The Virginia "wingnut" and the Arizone "whackadoo" were nowhere near institutional. They had been functioning in society, much better in fact than a good percentage of the minorities in this country. Guys like that are a dime a dozen in this dysfunctional zombie land we call America.

I'm surprised you are so naive about this and have followed the manner of so many others and overreacted. I would expect this from a liberal or a woman. Get a grip and stop watching the sob fests that are being shown 24-7 on the idiot tube. The world is an ugly place with ugly people. That is not news and nor should it be suprising to any intelligent person.

I was watching Meet The Press out of curiosity this morning to see what all the experts would say about gun control. It was all fairly predictable - regulating/banning assault weapons - that was Sen. Fein(Jew)Stein's contribution. A columnist from the New (Jew) York Times tried to call it a Psychological issue and not really delve into the video game angle writing it off due to "hundreds of studies". Hollywood and the entertainment industry were glazed over and the black Sociology Professor from Georgetown and called the rappers/singers that talk about violence in their "art" was a secondary cause but guns were the main culprit.

Not once was it discussed how this is a morally bankrupt culture that over the past 50 years has taken God out of the public sector. When talking about gun violence in urban issues they leave out the convenient fact that a lot of those weapons are bought in the black market. The left is out their dispensing blame on the NRA without acknowledging their role of the downward spiral of society over the past 50 years.

While this is a mess, It's also very curious. For example, I'm puzzled at the ratio of dead to wounded. There seem to be very many more dead than wounded (almost none wounded). That is very unusual. for the most part, you have very many more wounded than dead. Was this guy that good? Secondly, these things are getting to be media events anymore. Somewhat like everything is choreographed. Just shooting from the hip. Let's wait and see about this. It's still very early.

Tom - I heard that all the victims had multiple gun shot wounds.

I do agree that the media's coverage is very formulaic though and they make a ton of money off capitalizing on this terrible tragedy. Their faux compassion is laughable and same goes for all these experts they march out of the woodworks.

In my day a teacher didn't need a gun, just the sight of that plained down baseball bat hanging on the wall in the classroom was enough for us to behave. You respected your school and your teachers in those days or you were punished.

If you got into trouble at school in my home, you were really gonig to get it when you got home to face my Father, a man whom I love and respect more than anyone who taught me how to be a responsible man....

.... and how to handle a rifle and pistol in the correct way!

Thank God for my Father the 2nd Amendment!

They did a survey amongst NYC school teachers around 1990 or so, and they asked them what they thought the main problem in NYC schools was, and then they compared that with a similar survey done in NYC schools in 1941.

1941: The main problems were children talking in the halls and throwing spitballs.

1990: The main problems were armed robbery and rape.

They have methodically and systematically trashed this country - and now they try to blame "guns"! Hell, you used to be able to order hand guns and ammo from the Sears or Montgomery Ward catalogue, and you didn't need any politician's license or permission to do so, and nobody was shooting up schools!
