The golf section has gone a little bit quite and instead of starting a new thread for each tournament I thought it might be a good idea to start one for each tour to discuss.

Martin Kaymer moves up to 2nd in the world after his eight shot victory in Abu Dhabi. He's a great player and comes across as a very nice, humble man. A good role model.

Kaymer Romps in Abu Dhabi

Martin Kaymer closed with a 6-under 66 to successfully defend his title in the European Tour's Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship. With the eight-shot victory, the rising German star supplanted Tiger Woods in the No. 2 position in the World Golf Rankings.

Kaymer, the reigning PGA champion, finished 72 holes at Abu Dhabi Golf Club in 24-under 264, smashing the course record of 267 set by Paul Casey posted in 2009 and matched by Kaymer last year.

It was his third win in the tournament in four years and eighth victory in his last 18 starts.

"It was just one of those weeks when everything goes my way," said the 26-year-old. "It's just the perfect course for me. It was more difficult, but I hit a lot of fairways and my putting was amazing."

The win was Kaymer's ninth on the European Tour. In moving right behind No. 1-ranked Lee Westwood of England, Europe has claimed the top two spots in the world rankings for the first time since July 1993, when Nick Faldo and Bernhard Langer led them.

"I think for Lee (Westwood) and me, it's a very nice position to be No. 1 and 2 in the world," Kaymer said. "You can see how strong European golf became the last few years, and not only through the Ryder Cup, but if you have a look at the major winners last year." (Northern Ireland's Graeme McDowell won the U.S. Open and South African Louis Oosthuizen the British Open.)

Northern Ireland's Rory McIlroy closed with a 3-under 69 to take second place at 16-under 272. McDowell had a 5-under 67 to join two-time U.S. Open winner Retief Goosen, who posted the best round of the day, an 8-under 64, in third at 274.

McIlroy knew pretty soon in the final round it wasn't going to be possible to catch Kaymer, who carded 25 birdies and one bogey in the tournament.

"I happy with the week," McIlroy said. "If anything, I could have put a little pressure on Martin early on, but when he goes out and shoots 66, there is not much you can do about that. After the bogey on the fifth hole, I was just trying to consolidate second place."

Masters champion Phil Mickelson shot a 2-under 70 on Sunday to finish tied for 37th at 5-under.

26 year old Martin Kaymer of Germany (who won the PGA last year and three more tournaments around the world since then) is now the number one ranked player, moving ahead of Lee Westwood today by making the final of tomorrow's match play championship against Luke Donald of England. I'm not sure but I think Donald also moved ahead of Tiger Woods in the rankings today and is now fourth. Six of the top nine ranked players are now Europeans. Kaymer is the second German to be ranked number one, after Bernhard Langer. Was nice to hear him say he was proud of that fact during an interview as Germans are supposed to be even meeker and without pride than White South Africans.
Some hack on CNNSI wrote yesterday that the "downfall" of this tournament is that the "premier" players were knocked out too early. What he was actually doing, like 99.9% of White sportswriters, was pouting because his hero Tiger lost in the first round. The four semifinalists of this tournament were all Ryder Cup players last year (Americans Matt Kuchar and Bubba Watson are playing in the consolation match for third tomorow). All the talk of the "young generation" rising up in golf has been just that, talk, but this tournament has been dominated by young stars and semi-young ones like Watson, who is a late bloomer. Hopefully two or three of them will start winning four or five touraments a year and contending regularly at the majors. Kaymer in particular looks like a force to contend with for a long time.

The good news for the White golf writers and DWFs is that Woods remains the world number onein the cherished category of Most Likely to Spit on Greens.Edited by: Don Wassall

This morning on SportsCenter, David Lloyd, a young ESPN nut-hugger, was mocking Martin Kaymer's choice to wear a scarf during the WGC Acceture Match Play tournament.

Lloyd kept chuckling while saying "I didn't know men wore scarves."Â￾ His negress co-host, Hannah Storm, also found Kaymer's wardrobe comical. In the context, it was obvious that they were implying that Kaymer was either homosexual, metrosexual, or somehow effeminate.

In my years of observing the MainstreamMediaMachine, I've never once heard anyone make light of the outrageously feminine wardrobe selections of black males"¦.you know, diamond earrings, diamond watches, diamond rings, huge necklace pendants, gold teeth, gold chains, fur coats, color-coordinated hats and shoes, bandanas, etc.

"God"Â￾ once again failed his loyal subjects"¦so the act of mocking something as trivial as a successful white player wearing a scarf will have to suffice until "He"Â￾ is resurrected.

Hannah Storm is black? At any rate, Caste Clown Tony Kornheiser was suspended last year for making fun of one of Hannah's outfits. That was a case offeminism trumping an otherwise protected Cultural Marxist Jew. But a Gentile, especially a German one, is fair game for any kind of verbal attack. So brave of young Mr. Lloyd to pick on him.

Matteo Manassero won his second European tour event last Sunday and he only turned 18 on Tuesday. He's now ranked 33rd in the world.

Manassero is very mature for his age, very impressive in the way he conducts himselfin addition tohis great talent on the course.

It was also nice to see Rory McIlroy bounce back from his Masters meltdown to finish third in the tournament Manassero won. Edited by: Don Wassall
