For what it's worth -- which is probably nothing as he most likely will be cut in less than 18 hours -- the 49ers in the second half of their game with San Diego are giving the ball to a white running back named Zak Keasey. He's out of Princeton and is 6-0 and weighs about 235 and has long, blonde dreadlocks. Can't find much other info on him. He was apparently with the Redskins last year but never played. He's listed as often as a LB as a RB and played linebacker at Princeton so he's probably been jerked around on the furthest fringes of the NFL.

The Steelers and Lions announced their final cutdowns this morning before the deluge starts right before the 6:00 deadline. FB/RB John Kuhn and safety Mike Lorello were let go by the Steelers. WR Mike Furrey has made the Lions roster, while WR Charles Rogers was waived. The Detroit organization will be widely praised for their "courage" in releasing Rogers, who is a bum of the highest pedigree, but is also an afflete who was thesecond overall pick in '03 and is supposedly brimming with untapped talent after four years of injuries, laziness and arrogance.

St. Louis released WR/KR Brad Pyatt yesterday. The Patriots released WR Eddie Berlin and LB Monty Beisel.

A fair amount of these guys will end up on practice squads, which means if four or five guys in front of them get injured they might get promoted to special teams work.

If the Steelers keep Kuhn it will be as a practice squad emergency backup to FB Dan Kreider.

Here's a couple more teams reporting: The Rams cut LB Tim McGarigle, the Bengals cut FB Chris Manderino and S John Busing (an athletic monster who played LB at Ohio and whose workout numbers were through the roof); the Ravens cut LB Ryan LaCasse (another athletic freak who played DE at Syracuse with 4.5 speed), and WR Travis LaTendresse (who Brian Billick had been talking up as a potential team mascot like Chris Walsh).

Here's some more updates: Minnesota released CB Dustin Fox and WR Kevin Kasper (meet the new boss, same as the old boss -- The Who). Dallas released LB Rocky Boiman and OT Rob Petitti (started last season for them), Atlanta cut WR Troy Bergeron, Washington cut LB Spencer Havner and WR Jimmy Farris, and San Diego cut CB Steve Gregoy and S Mitch Meeuwsen.

stop for just a second and think of the kind of team you could have just with the guys in your last post, Don...

in the secondary we have:

CB Steve Gregory, who, i believe is second all-time in the Big East in pass deflections despite playing conrer for less than three full seasons.

CB Dustin Fox, the most athletic player on the national championship Ohio State team who started as a sophomore.

S Mitch Meeuwsen, a multiple all-conference pick in the Pac-10.

LB Rocky Boiman, an athletic linebacker who started at Notre Dame since his sophomore year.

LB Spencer Havner, an all-American at UCLA who was one of the top linebackers in the nation for two years and perenially up for the Butkus award.

i'd say that would be a serviceable group to start our defensive unit... and on offense:

WR Kevin Kasper, who holds 3 All-Time NFL Combine speed records and is the all-time best receiver to play at Iowa and one of the best kick returners in the NFL.

WR Troy Bergeron, the Arena League Rookie of the Year with legitimate 4.3 speed broke the Arena League's single season receiving record as a rookie with 1,372 yards and 31 touchdowns.

WR Jimmy Farris, a Division 1-AA all-American who was the Redskins second leading receiver in the pre-season.

OT Rob Petitti, an all-American at Pitt who was the first Pitt o-lineman to be a repeat all-conference performer since 93-94, and he earned it three times. started all 16 games for the Cowboys last year.

hmmm... i'd say these are some really shiatty players...

No question about it JC, the NFL should be loaded with white players at every position. Here's some more:

Buffalo cut S Jim Leonhard, Tampa Bay waived WR Chas Gessner (he's better than anyone they have after aging J. Galloway), and Tennessee released WR Grant Mattos.

About halfof the Saints cuts are in but not all. This is the one I'm really waiting for to see if Hass and Lyman made it. Also the Colts with their four white WRs.

Fox and Boiman gone? rookies Havner and McGarigle as well? if this trend keeps up, we will have less players to cheer for than last year, and that was already retty week season...

PS huge let down by Bucs... letting Gessner go is a big mistake... he could easily be worked into the rotation and he worked his butt off during the preseason... maybe he'll clear waiver wire and stay on PS...Edited by: backrow

I'm about ready to give up guys.I can't believe how many of these stars get cut year after year.If anything,it's getting worse by the year. This is so hard to handle.Sometimes I feel like it's my kids that are getting cut. They just totally spit on these guys. For Bergeron to get cut just makes no sense at all.He is probably the fastest player on the Falcons by far. It's not even close.Kasper,Fox and all of the rest of these guys get no respect. It's just like in basketball,if you are white and athletic with hops, you will disapear before you ever see the nba. They only want a few token white players who can't jump. They don't want to disprove the myth. What a travesty.I'm sick to my stomach.Oh well. Thanks for letting me vent.I'm off the the football game.

just noticed that Bucs also waived Razzano and kept no good Sowell as a backup FB... mind you Razz might be back, last season they cut and resigned him several times, but still...
at least we got Jolley over Massaquoi

It's a clean sweep in New Orleans -- Hass, Lyman and Horn all cut.

I share the same sentiment as many here. It's getting really, really difficult to watch the NFL. Not because the players are overwhelmingly black, mind you -- if whites got a fair shot and that's how things shook out, I'd be fine with it. But we know that's not true. It's the fact that they get screwed, used, abused, and mocked that makes me sick.

Don (or anyone else), do you know how close the NFL is to being as black as the NBA? The average fan tends to view the NBA as a "black" sport, but not the NFL. If the NFL were to become blacker than the NBA (it's on its way, without a doubt), I think that might open some eyes.

Crazy. At least the NBA is getting a huge influx of Euro players (and treating them fairly), in addition to that they have been beat by majority white teams in the last two major international competitions, which helps dispel any black basketball superiority myth.

The NFL isn't getting any better, and there's no international players to help turn the tide. When you can be the best college reciever in the nation in College and not even make an NFL roster, then you know that things have hit rock bottom...

Really, the evidence is overwhelming that white players are disriminated against by every team in the National Football League. Until some bitter white ex-player, or better yet one of the few successful players presently in the league (Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Brian Urlacher, uh...I guess I'm running out of names) speaks out against this discrimination, it will just get worse. Why didn't Drew Brees publicly protest the waiving of a great prospect like Mike Hass? He's the QB for the team- I don't care how much brainwashing he's endured, he can't possibly believe that Colston and Jamal Jones are better than Hass and Lyman. The sad fact is, I'm dreaming here- that will never happen in Don King's America.

In reality, virtually all the white fan base of the league wants more black players. They would not bat an eye if the league went completely black. Well, it will never be 100% black- the punters and placekickers will always be white. Those who run the league want it that way- so that they can be ridiculed and juxtaposed against the real (all black) players. We know that EVERY white ex-player who has access to a microphone wants more black players. Maybe there are a few whites left from the old days of the NFL who feel like we do, but if so they are choosing to remain silent. When you can have a guy like Merrill Hoge admit that the Steelers coaching staff told him he was the wrong color to play RB, but then make a career out of talking black, acting black and worshiping all black players, then you realize how hopeless this issue is.

I've stated before that the only reason I follow this nearly all-black league at all is because of fantasy football. Imho, any white fan who doesn't play fantasy football and still follows the NFL is a fool. Of course, those of us who play fantasy football are probably fools, too, for having anything to do with this anti-white nonsense. Consider this- Hass was a 6th round pick whom celebrated first-rounder Reggie Bush lobbied for (and suposedly wanted to room with), while Marques Colston was a 7th round pick. Hass had a sterling camp, and the club was supposedly raving about him. Colston had nothing going for him except his skin color. Then, the club trades one of its starting WRs, Donte Stallworth, making Hass's odds of being on the opening day roster almost 100%. Hass, like teammates Chris Horn and Chase Lyman, had only one important strike against him- that all important pigmentation disorder. This is so sad that all we can is laugh about it.

We were discussing today's purging of whites in my home tonight. What disturbs me is the injustice of it all. It's not just because these guys are white. If blacks were still being excluded from sports or certain positions, I'd think that was unfair as well.

I 'know' there is a caste sytem. In the past, I've resisted the idea that it is deliberate discrimination against white players, but instead that it is a socio-cultural milieu in which the perception that blacks are better athletes, along with the racial dynamics of locker rooms, and the desire to appear to be unbiased by coaches and GMs, that has fostered said prejudice and resulted in the unfair treatment of whites in the NFL, and elsewhere.

Now, however, I am beginning to wonder if there isn't in place an actual directive for the establishment of some sort of quota system limiting the number of whites per NFL team.

The white players that have been cut, vis a vis the black players that have remained on a particular team in that white player's position, belie the notion that these teams are indeed keeping the best player at that position on their roster. The only question now is, is it unintential and without malice aforethought, or is it a deliberate, purposeful, purging of whites from the sport.

One of my rituals at this time of year from 2002-2005 was my purchase of the Official NFL Record and Fact Book. I won't do that this year, unwilling as I am to further underwrite the Negritude Football League.

One would think that a receiver who never drops a ball would be a hot commodity in the NFL...

So who are the Saints receivers now? Oh someone please tell me the names of these great and all-powerful affletes who have been deemed worthy to play in the NFL at the expense of the best receiver in college football less than a year ago. Surely they are superstars.

I hope the Saints go 2-14. Eff'n joke.

I agree completely. If it was a level field that would be one thing, but the field is totally tilted against whites, with the media being an integral part of the process.

The NFL was 31% white last year, but only 24% of the starters were white, comparable to the NBA. About 90% of starters on defense are black; quarterback, offensive line and tight end are the only positions that are not overwhelmingly black. The 31% overall figure is inflated because of the white monopoly in punters, field goal kickers and long snappers. I expect the percentage of white starters to drop this year when I do the team by team analysis.

The Euro influx into the NBA, though seeming to slow this past year (not coincidentally after a slew of articles about how the league's always put-upon blacks were griping about "losing jobs"), but the NBA looks to be headed to be at least 30% or more white over the next few years while the NFL, well, the momentum in favor of excluding whites is so strong who knows how black the NFL will end up getting.

I looked the other day and all 11 starters on Miami's offense are projected to be black, as best I know that's the first time in NFL history that an entire offense will be black. The Dolphins are one Zach Thomas injury away from fielding the league's first ever all-black team. More and more of the top o-linemen in the draft are black, and we know about how eager the NFL and media are to have lots and lots of black quarterbacks. Half the starters or more at QB in I-A are now black, so it's only a matter of time before that's reflected in the Caste System'spremier organization. Edited by: Don Wassall

i agree one hundred percent with your post... those were and are my exact sentiments... i do feel quite sick right about now... it just seems like NFL will reach the new low this season - and it won't stop there

David Kircus made the Broncos. Now let's see how much they use him. The only 2 teams whose cuts aren't out yet are the Colts and Texans, both important teams as the Colts have four white WRs and Houston has two.

The Falcons cut David Turnbull, a shutdown corner in college who couldn't make Atlanta as a safety. Denver cut QB Bradlee Van Pelt, while Carolina cut QBs Stefan LeFors and Brett Basanez. Van Pelt and LeFors are both excellent runners, but the NFL likes no diversity whatsoever when it comes to mobile quarterbacks, as Eric Crouch, Matt Jones, Cade McNown and many others can attest.

UPDATE: WRs Kevin Walter and David Anderson both made the Texans roster.Edited by: Don Wassall
