There is absolutely no way a talent like Max should even be in a position of attending a try out. The worst thing he did was not take the extra year in school and solidified his resume. It's a crime as he had around 4000 yards and over 40 tds at Washington State. The kid is another Danny Woodhead but I see a higher upside. I really hope he doesn't have to go play in the CFL or one of the New Smaller Football Leagues. Such a crime as anyone
can see from his stats and hilites that his talent is off the charts! Let's hope Denver makes a wise decision for a change. I do think Russel Wilson might put in a good word for him. He has always seemed like a fair guy off the field as he hangs out with normal
guys and stays out of trouble. Hope Wilson encourages Denver to sign him.

It's hard to have any confidence in the current group running things in Denver, starting at the top with apparent lush and definite Caste Clown John Elway.

As a big booster of Josie Jewell since he was drafted, it's gratifying to see the slow transformation, from despised "too slow" White dude to an entrenched starter at MLB, maybe even the key piece of the Bronco defense. A big battle this season will be whether the incredibly productive Alex Singleton starts next to Jewell or is screwed over like he was in Philly even though he was far and away their best LB, in fact the league's best on a per snap basis.

Borghi's best outcome is to make the practice squad, or perhaps stick as their fourth RB. With Williams and Gordon the Broncos are very solid at the top at that position, but Gordon's run could end any year now, though to his credit he's been a durable, productive back his entire career.

Agreed, Max can hope for 4th team RB and maybe punt return duties where he can show off his open field abilities while carving out a role as a pass-catching back early in his career.

It goes without saying, but I believe he can be a productive starting back in the NFL and were he not white he would likely get that opportunity.

Trying to stay positive that Wilson also puts in a good word as Max would be a great outlet for him and really help his numbers.

Joe Schobert visited the Broncos but no word yet on whether he's been signed. If he is that'll give Denver three White ILBs -- Jewell, Singleton and Schobert. But don't be surprised if Jonas Griffith is the one who ends up starting inside next to Jewell.

Since it's in Denver, Colorado it's very fitting if it happens. Instead some of the offensive lines on teams that we have called the snow plow we can call these dynamic linebackers, "Snow Chow". They were be chewing up rb's and receivers for lunch.

This is an astute observation.

RB Damarea Crockett, who was mostly a BSTD, suffered a torn ACL and is out for the season, which solidifies Borghi's position a bit. I found this quote from Denver's OC Justin Outten: "I thought he did some nice things,” Outten said per Mike Klis of 9news. “He’s got a good switch; he’s patient. He waits for that lane to open and he pops it. He did a couple good things in protection as well.”

Colorado Native Max Borghi Cherishing 'Surreal' Signing with Hometown Broncos

Max Borghi is not unlike many Broncos fans. His favorite player was Peyton Manning. He attended training camp as a kid and got autographs on a miniature football. He attended the Broncos' Super Bowl 50 parade. This Broncos fan, though, is also one of the newest Broncos.

"This is awesome," Borghi said Thursday. "It's surreal. I mean obviously to come out here. I grew up in Denver. I've been watching the Broncos my whole life and to be out here is a blessing to say the least."

Borghi, an Arvada native and Pomona High School alum, signed with the Broncos on Wednesday after the team placed running back Damarea Crockett on injured reserve. The Colorado high school standout joins the Broncos after a productive career at Washington State in which he scored 41 total touchdowns in 39 career games. Now, he'll aim to prove he deserves a spot with the Broncos.

"Obviously at Washington State … I was a little bit of a receiver, little bit of a running back," Borghi said. "Caught a lot of passes in my days. I think I'll fit real well into this system. A lot of toss and outside zone. I feel like I'm a good outside zone runner. Not only that, but all the pass plays, all the different ways they can use me, I believe I can just bring an edge that will definitely help the room out. [With] special teams and every little thing, I'll do whatever it takes to get on the field. I just want to play, and I want to be in Denver."

Borghi had an opportunity earlier this offseason to compete with the Broncos as he joined the team's mandatory minicamp as a tryout player. He spoke to the team during the pre-draft press conference, as well. When he got calls this week from the Broncos and Steelers, he chose to remain at home.

Borghi's goal of making the roster — or even the practice squad — won't be easy as he tries to make up for lost time during training camp.

"I'm really going to have to come out here and just be a sponge every day," Borghi said. "Obviously I'm coming in mid-camp and I have a lot to learn. Just got to learn from the vets, learn from [Running Backs] Coach [Tyrone] Wheatley and just continue to work hard and do every little thing I can and prep my body, prep myself, prep my game — every little thing matters now. Coming into a week and a half until [the] Dallas [game], so just got to take advantage of every single day and study."

Borghi, though, has previously shown his ability to reach his goals. He and Pomona made three consecutive Colorado state championship games, and he scored a touchdown in Pomona's win during his senior season. That win came at Empower Field at Mile High — and Borghi is already dreaming about scoring more touchdowns on that field.

"It's pretty crazy," Borghi said. "I was just thinking about the touchdown I scored there, and I'm just picturing myself getting an opportunity to hopefully go out there and score another touchdown in front of a full stadium instead of a little half[-filled] high school stadium of fans."

After signing with the Broncos, Borghi is one step closer to making that a reality.

Max Borghi Doesn’t Just Have a Chip on His Shoulder, Says It’s a “Boulder”

New Broncos running back Max Borghi is ticked off. Not at the team, not at the fans, but a little bit at NFL general managers. The former Pomona high school star was signed by the Broncos earlier this week, but not after going undrafted and then just a five day stint with the Colts before getting cut in May. Borghi joined Nate Jackson and John Davis on 104.3 The Fan after Day 10 of training camp and says he felt like he deserved to be drafted.

“I feel disrespected through that whole process. It’s just put a big chip on my shoulder. Not even a chip, I’ve got a boulder on my shoulder,” Borghi said.

Borghi rolled his ankle before the NFL Combine, and therefore wasn’t able to participate. He thinks it hurt his stock. “Obviously, the NFL combine’s the biggest interview of your life. It was disappointing. It hurts. That’s the interview you dream about,” Borghi said. “I felt like if I was healthy and able to perform there it would have definitely helped me out.”

Borghi said his game compares to former local Colorado high school stars Christian McCaffrey, Austin Ekeler and Phillip Lindsay. He knows he can be one of the best backs in the class of 2022. “I feel like I’m definitely capable of being one the top backs in this class. Obviously, there’s been bumpy roads through everything. I’m very confident in myself and very confident in my game,” Borghi said.

But being brand new is tough, and he’s working as fast as he can to catch up with the rest of the Broncos. “Compared to other rookies, they’re all months into this playbook and I’m on day two. It’s quick and it’s difficult. But I’ve been slowly picking it up and I’ve been studying on my own. Just be a sponge and pick up every little bit of information I can,” Borghi said.

At practice on Saturday, Borghi had the longest run of the day. One that even though he’s not allowed to be hit, would have gone for a big gain in a game.

“It felt good, just to get out there and play some football. I didn’t know where I was going to be and what the deal was going to be. Whether I was going to be playing football here or somewhere else. Just to go out and play football was a great feeling today, bust a run out,” Borghi said.

He grew up a Broncos fan and went to games and even attended training camp as a fan. Borghi said he got his football signed by all the players. Time flies, and now he is one of those players. “Now I’m here, so it’s a little weird. It went quick. I just feel like yesterday I was in little league football and now I’m here on an NFL team,” Borghi said.

He’s got his work cut out for him, clearly behind Javonte Williams, Melvin Gordon and Mike Boone on the depth chart. But Borghi is channeling that boulder on his shoulder and the disrespect to fuel him. We’ll see if it translates to success on Sundays.

So it seems all he needed was an opportunity and he is wowing coaches. Now if he were black, he would absolutely get a shot. Crossing my fingers he makes the active roster week 1. But at least the practice squad is looking like a sure thing at this point. I’ve zero doubt once preseason games start he will impress even more.
