I'm guess I'm the exception here as I find it mostly demeaning and unenlightening. Danny is called "a little White guy playing running back" which is why fans liked him, while players like Julio Jones "won the genetic Power Ball" and "we all know why [players like Julio Jones are] in the league," blah, blah, blah, while Woodhead "had to scrap his ass off."
To me it's just the standard narrative that blacks are more genetically gifted and it's great to see the occasional White guy break through. Nothing about the systemic nature of the Caste System or of the Caste System itself, nothing about all the other potential Danny Woodheads out there who are routinely ignored, etc. Not that I would expect that as Kyle Brandt would have instantly been out of a job, and likely too the cutie Kay Adams merely for nodding in agreement too much. In fact the biggest "tell" is that this created absolutely no contrived "controversy" as it was kept within standard media narrative limits. If Danny had been in the studio all three would have likely patted him on the head, Benny Hill style, and sent him on his way. Little different from the game announcers who often note in amazement, feigned or otherwise, how a talented White player was a just a walk-on but never mention the blatantly obvious patterns of slotting and discrimination that repeat over and over and over and have for several decades now.
