Yeah, I think more are waking up, but getting to the most dumb fans (the most brainwashed) is very hard. It is like talking to a brickwall. At first I wondered why they were reffered to as Drunk White Fans. After talking to some of them, they literally seem like drunken idiots. They base their opinions on players entirely on what the media and announcers tell them. It gets frustrating trying to get through to them. They probably watch the games drunk, listen to the biased announcers, and then rewatch the highlight clips the MEDIA WANTS them to see.
This Saints fan I have been talking to is deadset on the Saints picking Andre Smith in the first round. His logic is that Stinchcomb is horrible and the whole reason the run game suffered last year, and by adding Smith somehow Bush would get close to 5,000 yards in one season (he actually said a figure around 5,000, i will look up the post in a bit) Here it is, well it was another poster "
If you guys drafted Andre Smith and put him next to Jahri Evans, Reggie Bush would rush for 5,971 yards in one season. Book it."
I tried to tell him that Stinchcomb is very athletic RT and the Saints just locked him up for 5 years with a nice deal. The reason the run game suffered was because of the middle of the line, we need an upgrade at Center. Maybe RG, i dont know why everyone thinks Jahri Evans is such a great RG, he messes up blocking assignments all the time, and quite a few times Stinchcomb has to help him out and winds up looking bad. There have been a few plays where Evans didnt know his assignment and wound up tripping Stinchcomb to the ground. Who looks bad? Stinchcomb. Stinch is an above average run blocker and a great pass blocker, and very atheltic, great at getting to the next level, he is absolutely great on blocking for those little screens (getting out in space) we run for reggie bush.
There was no reasoning with this guy, he still insisted we draft Andre Smith and put him at RT, and an instant upgrade. I actually spent the time, made a video of every line play from the first game of the season to show who messed up on the line, who was getting beat and who was getting no push. Stinchcomb was getting push, it was the middle that was collapsing (pro bowl Jammal Brown got beat once and looked like he struggled the entire game, i witnessed a few holds that werent called like falling on a player). Stinchcomb made several key blocks, never got beat, but i mentioned on the forum about how the last play was a screen to reggie that Stinchcomb got out into space to make a block that freed reggie up for the winning touchdown.
His response was "Well guys, if one play isn't a good enough sample size for you, I don't know what is. You have to be related to Stinchcomb."
it was actually an ENTIRE game of line play. And then he automatically discredits anything i say because i said andre smith should have played in the bowl game because it was the most important game of their season, which i admitted several times i was wrong about. I forgot the SEC title game which would have put Alabama in the National Championship game. (ive seen people on there make much bigger mistakes and i was man enough to admit i was wrong) But i did have somewhat of a point, bowl games are important, they generate money for the school, whether its the national championship or the sugar bowl, the school gets more money for WINNING them. He should have cared.
but this guy thinks we will draft andre smith and put him at RT, even though we signed Stinchcomb to a 5 year deal. It MUST be the lone White guy that is the reason for the poor running game.
Another example: everyone on the Saints board talks about how Zach Strief looked horrible when he played in place of Jammal Brown and constantly got beat and they had to use a TE on his side to help with blocking. The only reason for thinking this is because the announcers kept talking about how unathletic he was. He got beat once. They showed the line getting beat twice, one was Strief, and the other was Evans. And he didnt receiver a tight end to help blocking, except on a few two tight end sets which we run every game. I rewatched the game, he held his own and only got beat once. IMO he could replace Jammal Brown if he had to. But...if it were up to me, I would put Stinchcomb at LT (he is very athletic and able to succeed at it, i think at a pro bowl type level) and put Strief at RT, and then trade Jammal Brown while we can still get something for him. His knees are shot and he walks like he is in his late 40's. That was before i knew hot to edit video, soon i will go and edit the game streif played in, EVERY SINGLE play and question where did he constantly struggle?
and me being accused of being related to Stinchcomb for talking about how good of a player he is? thats absurd
I responded with "and i guess you must be related to andre smith for taking up for him so much? that makes no damn sense, just because a fan takes up for a good player doesnt make them related to that player." Which i have gotten no response. He doesnt just take up for smith, its like this mancrush, which i dont understand why dwfs get those with players, its like they literally fall in love with a player.
I know this is a long post, but I mean, whats the best way to get through to dumbasses like this? I can't believe some people are actually this dumb. Its people like this that are keeping the caste system in place. They are too stupid it seems.
