Something is better than nothing I guess but seven games seems a little paltry to me. Heck I thought the Big Ten's eight game schedule was too thin. Just like the Big Ten the Mountain West will start up an eight game season on October 24th.

An Illinois State football coach abruptly quit the team Thursday, leaving a note on the door while exiting the facility.
Kurt Beathard, who was the Redbirds’ offensive coordinator, told The Pantagraph he let a note that said “All Lives Matter to Our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ” before he left. Officials told the newspaper Wednesday he was no longer a part of the team and declined to comment on why he abruptly left.
His departure apparently followed an incident involving a “Black Lives Matter” poster in the locker room. Sources told The Pantagraph that the poster was taken down from the Illinois State locker room in the school’s football building. Beathard denied any involvement in the locker room saying that someone put a sign on his door and that he took that down.
“That locker room crap is wrong. I took the sign down somebody put on my door. That’s it,” Beathard told the newspaper. “I didn’t take anything off that wasn’t put on my door. I wrote the message.”
Beathard’s departure came weeks after players had an issue with athletic director Larry Lyons using the phrase “All Redbird Lives Matter” in a video conference, according to the newspaper. Some student-athletes boycotted workouts because of it and a march supporting black voices was held.
Beathard returned to Illinois State in 2018 – his third stint with the program. He’s spent 15 years as a coordinator in the FCS. He played in the USFL and Arena Football League.
His nephew, C.J. Beathard, is a quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers.

Lane Kiffin mentioned that Plumlee didn't play QB because Matt Corral played so well. And I thought Corral looked pretty good to be fair. But essentially what he is saying is Plumlee is the backup QB. How many back up college QBs get drafted?
In his other Swiss Army Knife role their normal slot receiver had a huge day so Plumlee's role as a WR seems a little shaky? Meanwhile he isn't on the "depth" chart as a RB plus they have several capable backs to fill that role. Which begs the question? Will Plumlee be left twisting in the wind this season? I will give it a few more games but I don't quite see how the limited role he played Saturday gives him an opportunity to impress the NFL brass?
Should he transfer? Another scenario that I doubt Kiffin will consider is to groom him as a cornerback. The Ole Miss defensive backfield was shredded all day long against Florida and with his natural athleticism and great speed Plumlee might take to it fairly quickly. Plus as a QB he would have some understanding on how to defend the passing game. But that would go against the Steve Sailer Rule which dictates that no white player has what it takes to play CB. Ever. For eternity.
Kiffin better think up something fast or Plumlee will rot in some in between Twilight Zone with nowhere to go but down.

Plumlee want to consider taking matters into his own hands as well. Either pushing for a position change or transferring out of the program. I'd love to see Plumlee at RB, WR or DB.

Agreed. It’s patently offensive that the BLM crowd puts more value in the life of a total stranger.

Any kind of resistance to BLM/Antifa tyranny is good news. Good on Beathard and Lyons for being dissenting voices.

I find it interesting that the media has been nibbling at Dabo Swinney's neck since BLM exploded this year.He recently said he is against players having little BLM quotes on their uniforms and helmets and I couldn't agree more with him. There is no place for that in college sports. But as before the media is searching in various ways to trip Dabo up.
Why is the media so anxious to trip Dabo up BLM issues? They seem to be going out of their way dissecting his every word. I suspect it has something to do with the outlay of his more racially balanced teams which is an anomaly in a sea of big time southern football schools. No need to get carried away here. Dabo's teams are still relatively caste it is just that they aren't as hardcore caste as say SEC teams. I have speculated in the past that perhaps one of the reasons his teams seem more racially harmonious is he recruits player's who have strong religious values. What it says to me is the media is more interested in promoting black power slogans than any semblance of racial harmony.
Switching gears it looks like Texas WR Jake Smith is ready to play against TCU Saturday. I only hope his debut is better than John Rhys Plumlee's disastrous start for Ole Miss. They play TCU in a noon Fox TV game.
I don't know if Texas Tech WR McLane Mannix will suit up against Kansas State.

Saw this posted on Gab. An attack on Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz demanding he be fired and seeking $20 million in damages. A black player has now de-committed from Iowa. I don't think it's random that this is occurring at one of the only schools that has a semblance of fairness when it comes to recruiting white players.

Romney, who is a distant relative of Senator Mitt ( perhaps there are a lot of "distant relatives" in Utah---just joking folks) was in the class of 2018. So no he has not got on a mission nor do I expect him to go on one. Typically players go on missions right after high school or after their freshman season. Same story with QB Zach Wilson.

Definitely a smear campaign on a classy HC as there is in Ferentz. Iowa is one of the only schools left where the criminals don't run the asylum, hence why they are coming after him!

CSU / New Mexico game canned due to COVID concerns (by order of New Mexico public health dept). I think this may be the first one due to no cases on either team but “prevalence in the county” where the Lobos play. Oy Vey

Mississippi State redshirt sophomore QB/WR Garrett Shrader entered the NCAA transfer portal.
After making four starts at quarterback last season, Shrader (6'4/215) was moved out to wide receiver ahead of the 2020 campaign. The redshirt sophomore appeared in all four games for the Bulldogs but did not see much action, catching one pass for eight yards. As a redshirt freshman in 2019 Shrader appeared in ten games, completing 58 percent of his passes and throwing for 1,170 yards and eight touchdowns with five interceptions. He was also a credible threat on the ground, rushing for 587 yards and six touchdowns with an average of 5.7 yards per carry. Shrader should not lack for interest in the transfer portal, especially among teams in search of an experienced dual-threat quarterback.

Chattanooga is in action this Saturday against WKU. Can WR Bryce Nunnelly squeeze an entire season into their one and only game? Sort of impossible. Yes it seems UTC is playing just this one game this year. The good times just keep on rolling along. Nunnelly has NFL aspirations. I would give him the same advice I gave to S Brady Breeze. Work on your 40 yard dash mister.
After the John Rhys Plumlee disaster it is hard to feel confident about anything. But apparently at Rutgers the QB battle is between drop back Arthur Sitkowski and dual threat dynamo Noah Vedral. No need to ask me who I hope wins the job,
While on the subject I am hearing through the grapevine that even though Adrian Martinez ( see above) was named the starter it appears Scott Frost is likely to turn over the reigns to Luke McCaffrey sooner rather than later. I would have to see that to believe it though. We know by now how promising situations quickly dovetail into a mess--see John Rhys Plumlee again.
But imagine a CM running clone who can also pass and that will give you an idea of Luke's athletic talent? Reason dictates you want him on the field.
