I would be so excited it either trackster or Twinsen9 are right. Either of those times would be an outstanding opener. I will still stay with my more conservative hypothesis. I'm still worried about his starts from watching him struggle indoors this winter. I hope I'm wrong though!
 
Hum, but he ran 6"55 on 60m ok ?

So I think he's better now. On 100m, I really think he can run less than 10"10. My 10"02 is with a good wind (and of course good start and wealth). If no wind, ok, 10"05. If bad start, near 10"08.
 
in the last article posted by twinsen, he said that he's focusing on the drive phase and the curves for the 200, his weakest points, I'll say 10.00 for the first, especially that he's running at home

As it seems like there a new bet with the upcomming race, I bring back the table from last September, to remind what everybody is expecting from this season. wait and see
 
Well, improvement in sport is rarely as linear as we might hope. It appears that his dreadful indoor season (unable to reach his 2010 bests) has carried over to the outdoor. Last year, he ran much faster to start the season: 10.09. He's young, I guess, and his body's changing, so it may be another year or so before he starts to resume his improvement. 10.19 is probably worse than any race he ran last season and, as with the indoor times, no faster than he was in 2009 (slower than his best times of that year). I continue to have doubts about his preparation. Here's the link to last year's first race, which was quite a bit faster, despite being on the same track against the same opponents (the two excuses used in today's report):

I have to admit that I'm a little disapointed but it is only his first race. In my opinion, it is his starts that will make or break his season. It is becoming a mental block for him and they need to get it fixed. It's to early though to read too much into this though. This is only the beginning and I still see him running some very fast times in the next 3-4 months. Congrats Christophe. A win is a win!
 
as much as I would love to see him beat his opener from last year, its not that big of a deal. he's going to run fast this year regardless of his opening time. I'm sure he's mad at himself for not running faster, but the important thing is he won.

I think some of you are worrying too much. He already broke the 10 second barrier, something that most people believed a white man would never do. That in itself is enough for me. He's very young and he will get down to the 9.8 range when he peaks.
 
he considered this race as a "training" because of lack of competition.. he should be ready on the 26th at Rome, we'll have a clue about what his season will be made of
 
France's #2 sprinter, Martial Mbanjok, opened with 10.13 at the Kansas Relays.
Hopefully this is motivation for Lemaitre, to get focused and work his tail off to get to sub-10 shape.
 
Man, I think that's an awesome time for this early in the year. He's just easing into things with a training run and turns in a 10.19. Amazing!!

Looking at photos of Danny he has very English skin so he'd want to stay out of that sun. Be good to see how he develops. He's sure had a nice start.

I've often pondered about the genetic mix as differing ancestries are fused together. Some lucky people inevitably get the best ones from both sides and the potential superathlete is born. A generalisation sure, but it's certainly been apparent with most of the great multi-eventers of the last several decades IMO.

Does anyone think he will eventually beat Pietro Mennae's time of 19.72 in the 200m to become the fastest white 200m sprinter ever? That would be quite a feat.
