Yea if you look at any of the top backs they have stretches where their stats dip. Take Adrian Peterson in his prime, games where he had over 200 yards and games where he didn't crack 30 yards. His playoff average is 3.5 ypc. He put up great stats every year but Minny didn't win unless the qb play was good. If the qb can't capitalize on play action and the defense can't hold, then there's nothing the RB can do. Unlike Peterson, McCaffrey is a vital asset in the passing game, with 3rd down blocking and receptions, yet everyone else considered Peterson more of a "game changer" . That game changer often came out of passing situations for the likes of Chester Taylor and other mediocre backs that could provide more of a threat in the passing game, and could pass block better than the 7x pro bowler.
I think as good of a runner as he was, coming out like that hindered the offense, kind of predictable when you know he comes out on passing plays. Yep, total "game changer"
