NDSU beats Minnesota, 37-24. Maybe the Minnesota coach should recruit more players like NDSU.

LA Tech throws INT in endzone while at the 20 yard line of Miss St and tied 20-20 :(

I wouldn't blame Kill for Minnesota's team this year, as they are all Tim Brewster's recruits. His Northern Illinois teams were pretty white friendly with 9-12 white starters each year I believe.

I'm hoping LA Tech can keep Miss. State out of FG range.

Rex Burkhead in flipping incredible. What a monster game and he has done it with limited carries. Wow. Watching Burkhead and Line today has brought many smiles to my face. Let's hope these guys both have huge seasons to continue to impress the scouts.

Did I just hear correctly? the announcer just compared Burkhead to Walter Payton. Don't have loud speakers but it sounded pretty positive.

Burkhead does look amazing, glad to see him getting more in a rhythm since the Fresno St game.

Yeah, you were right, dwid. Do you know which one it was? I know Shaun King said Burkhead was really fun to watch earlier in the game, but I'm not sure who said it.

He was talking about the stiff-arm Rex gave that defender.

Man, Luke Muncie (#52) should have had the pick..

Geno Smiff should have 4 or 5 picks already. West Virginia's o-line HAS played well, there's no denying that.

Not sure who said it, have it on the laptop with internal speakers. Usually have Versus but out of town and its not in the hotel, but they did have SMU so that makes up for it.

Did Dana Holgersen just forget all of those years as an assistant at Texas Tech under Leach, then at Houston and Oklahoma St, that you can't run an effective passing spread offense with a black quarterback? I can't think of any successful ones off the top of my head, Oregon is more option based and so was Auburn with Newton. Also, its usually helpful to have one White guy that is a guarantee to catch anything thrown his way and gets yac. Even better to have 2 (which Tech had a few years). It seems like they had some success throwing to a bigger White receiver, not sure what his name is but then they haven't used him the last few drives.

If they just a had an average quarterback this game would be a win for WVU, but now LSU gets another win. They just referenced the 07 game against Florida where they were 5 for 5 on 4th down. People forget that it was Jacob Hester that picked up all of those.

I believe Holgersen has a recruited a highly touted white qb to run his offense. Geno SMiff is a holdover from the rich rod/bill stewart black quarterback loving era

Well thats good news. Hopefully he can somehow get on the field this season.

Someone asked if McGuffie was injured and I was able to find out some information. He has been dealing with injuries but can't find out exactly what.

"Despite the opponent, Sam McGuffie should be startable this week for Rice, as he has had two weeks to get over the injury woes that have slowed him down during the early part of the season."

"Rice junior tailback Sam McGuffie looked a bit more like his old self two weekends ago against Purdue (86 all-purpose yards, one TD) than he did in the opener at Texas, but he's still sporting a leg brace and the red jersey of the infirmed in practice. The closer to optimal health McGuffie comes, the more likely his role will be expanded. It's difficult to determine exactly when that moment will arrive, but Rice coach David Bailiff is in constant dialogue with McGuffie relative to the latter's health. When Bailiff gets the green light, expect McGuffie to deliver."

So I guess that's good news... better than being discarded for mediocre affletes. Hopefully he can recover quickly. He still has one year of eligibility left after this season but it would be nice to see him start running wild now.

Glad to see Burkhead have a career game against Wyoming. He's now 19th in the nation in rushing yards with 420, 1 yard short of teammate Taylor Martinez at 18th. He's also tied for 9th with 7 rushing TDs. Martinez also has 7 rush TDs. This is nice considering Gerry DiNardo on BTN after week one said that the tailback position for Nebraska was a "concern" or some other BS. That shut him up, tonight he was complimenting Burkhead. At this rate he'll finish the season the regular season with 1260 yards and 21 TDs, if Nebraska goes to the Big Ten championship then it will be 1365 and 22.75 TDs. If you don't average in the outlier Fresno State game, it will be more around 1515 yards we can expect from Burkhead with 22 TDs.

Also amazed with Zach Line so far. 9th in rushing yards, 2nd in rushing TDs with 11, we can expect him to gain 1389 yards (1505 with CUSA championship) and a whopping 33 rush TDs (35 with championship).

Though neither is trending to match Toby Gerhart's incredible, FBS leading 2009 season which was not matched last year in either yards (1871) or TDs (28).

It was Shaun King who said it after a stiff arm. He complimented Burkhead's powerful running style a few times during the game. Would have been nice to hear him say that his "shake" ability is also underrated, rather than that "he looks to run over you rather than around you" though. Is this the same Shaun King who QBed for Tampa Bay, when they probably would have made it to the Superbowl if not for what looked like a bad call on an incompletion to Bert Emanuel? King was the epitome of a game manager leading the offense, but was a solid option for Tampa (since it was built around a top notch D).

I thought Shaun King was pretty fair as an announcer during the game, unlike the black announcer in the BYU game who commented on how supposedly UCF has "too much speed" for BYU to handle almost directly prior to Daniel Sorensen running down an afroletic WR who had about 4 steps on him lol .

Nice win for BYU over UCF, but they need to forget about Heaps, he sucks. They already wasted a year on him.

Watching the OSU Texas A&M game, while Ryan Swope was torching the OSU affletes for 105 yards, Matt "Franchise Killen" Millen, was forced to pay a back-handed compliment: You might be surprised, Swope is probably the fastest player on the team, "not a lot of wiggle" but great speed. Apparently Millen was too busy looking at affletes asses wiggle to ever draft a White skill player in his ten atrocious years as Lions GM. Also, supa all world afflete Justin Blackmon, after spending the first half in histrionics because he wasn't getting enough targets, catches a pass in the flat and while jive-walking into the end zone untouched fumbles the damn ball through the endzone for a touch back.

Zach Line is awesome. If anybody calls him a fullback, they're a goddamn racist - the Mustangs never use a fullback, they only run one back sets.

What in the world is going on with Sam McGuffie? So far this season he only has 76 rushing yards and yesterday he only had 24 yards in the game. This is really hurting his pro chances.

I hate to throw ice water on the party, but we have to be realistic.
SMU's next three games (TCU, UCF, Southern Miss) are against three incredibly tough defenses.

-TCU played an atypical game against Baylor. Then they faced Air Force (the Falcons will amass rushing yards on anyone). But they still have a great run defense (#5 last season).
-UCF currently has the #3 total defense in the country, giving up only 86 rushing yards per game. They finished last season as the #8 rushing defense in the country.
-Southern Miss has the #26 rushing defense in the country, giving up just 94 yards per game. And they're ranked 18th in pass defense. Last season, they were the 13th ranked rush defense in the country.

If Zach is able to average 75+ rushing yards over the next three games, it will be nothing short of a miracle. After that, SMU doesn't face any more tough defenses and Zach should return to form.
My personal prediction is for Zach to finish with ~1,100 yards and 24TD.

He had a field day against TCU last year, I don't see it being much different this year. He had 94 yards rushing against UCF last year and I thought they were better than they are this year. I can't see any lower than a 90 yard average. He was great last year but looks even better this year.

SMU has one of the most experienced o-lines in the country. June Jones knows that Line is the key to any success they will have this year. Line ran well against A&M so I am sure he will have some good performances against the next three opponents.

Just having some fun with the numbers projecting. I always hope when it's one of our guys that the average sticks in the tougher games, and they even ramp it up as the season progresses.
