Perhaps, but from that distance it would be considered a chip-shot field goal, so he still should've easily made it.

Disappointed to see Northwestern lose. They have a habit of blowing games late, though. Hopefully, the injuries to Persa and Trumpy are not serious.

I'm not a big football guy, but I caught the beginning of the Indiana - Penn State game and was pleasantly surprised to see Greg Heban starting at CB for Indiana and mentioned as an "impact player". It made me sit down and watch the game for a bit and it was totally awesome to see him make some athletic open field tackles and not get beat once during the time I was watching while his black counterpart appeared to get picked apart several times. I did a little research on him and found that he wasn't recruited by any D1 schools and he actually had to walk on as a baseball player, later switching to football. I find it hard to believe this guy wasn't good enough in high school. If you can walk on to a D1 football team and win a starting CB position, then you were always good enough. The problem is the racially profiled recruiting practices! I apologize if someone already posted this article but here's a good one with a small interview where it talks a bit about Heban and getting into football. It always amuses me that nobody can give white players credit for being naturally athletic or fast. All they can say is that he worked hard to get to where he is...caste system right there for ya. :icon_rolleyes:

Northwestern could've used his services today in place of their badly burnt toast set of CBs. Like DWID said, no D1 CB should be giving up 268 yards and 3TDs, but when the perceived talent pool is effectively reduced to only 13% of the population then what can you expect?

After dual-threat BYU QB Riley Nelson replaced Heaps in the second half yesterday and led BYU to a dramatic come-from-behind victory against Utah State, he will most likely be the starting QB now. He looked great out there, giving BYU the extra dimension they were lacking on offense. I noticed it seemed to re-energize BYU's defense too and allowed them to play more loosely, knowing that the offense was now holding up their end of the bargain.

That BYU game was fun to watch. Nelson did a great job, especially on that last drive. McKay Jacobson came up with a huge catch on that drive as well. I hope Nelson plays the rest of the way, Heaps has talent but has not put it together on the field yet. He is only a sophmore so he should have more time to improve his QB skills.

Line with a nice 30 yard run, but the announcers were too busy with some stupid interview with a female sideline reporter that they missed it and didn't say anything about it nor offer up a replay. Line nearing the 100-yard mark halfway through the 3rd.

I knew that Texas A&M was erroneously ranked in the Top 10 to start the season! Part of it is that the pollsters seemingly refused to acknowlege the rawness of Tannehill.

A&M doesn't have a "super D" either. To the SEC, here we go.. mediocrity will follow.

He's 5' 10 and 170 pounds, about the average size of black college receivers, and of course after his long TD reception when he blew by the San Jose State backfield, Todd Christiansen started making fun of his size, saying he looks like someone's kid brother.

Good to hear. In today's Sports section of the local rag, they had a story of CSU trying WR after WR in hopes of finding a big playmaker. Hopefully they feel they've found one. He's only a freshman, too.

Michigan State beat the Buckeyes today. Ohio State's offense looked like a terrible high school team's today, only scoring their seven with 10 seconds left. Spartans DE Marcus Rush and MLB Max Bullough both had some good games today.

Kansas State has made it 35-33 Baylor, hopefully K-State can get the win here. Robert Griffen just got picked off by K-State!! K-State is already in the red zone.

Wash St just completed a 63-yard bomb against Colorado to win 31-27. Neither CB Parker Orms nor S Travis Sandersfeld started as they are both injured, Sandersfeld, unfortunately has a broken leg and will be out a while. Orms should be back next week...they need him badly.

BTW, that's a... uh, strange little modification to the zone read play that they were using. I just watched this last drive. Have they been doing that all day? Letting the RB turn back up and serve as lead blocker on the fake. Doesn't seem like a very effective design.

I don't understand SMU's last possession. Up by seven points with a little over four minutes left in the game they air-it-out instead of giving it to Line resulting in a three-and-out with little time taken off the clock. Now TCU is driving with under three minutes remaining.
