Here's an article about Casey Combest making another comeback.
Turns out he used to beat Tyson Gay in HS!
Reading the article reminded me of how mega-talented this guy was - a once in a lifetime kind of guy...but he never made the most of that talent.
Well, I wish him good luck, but being out of the sport that long, and never having had real coaching, proper training, etc, and still not having it....I won't hold my breath.

I don't think his life is spiraling out of control. He seems to be running a small cleaning company and has a family. So he isn't a wasteoid. I just think his "youth" has been lost. Obea Moore seems more of the life spiraling out of control. Anyway once you have lost it in track you never seem to get it back. There aren't any off speed pitches to learn in track .Edited by: white is right

That is about "Pickering" quick at 2 whole years younger.

One of the best high school sprint talents ever and certainly the best white sprint talent in who knows how many years and not only is he not able to develop his talent to a higher level but he donates those great sprint genes to the other side.

If his daughter is a successful sprinter the assumption will be that the talent came from mom.

It's been 20 years since Casey Combest set the High School 60m indoor record.
He also holds the indoor 100y and 100m High School records.

THIS DAY IN TRACK AND FIELD - 1999
1999 -- Casey Combest (Owensboro, KY), who had set a National H.S. Indoor Record of 10.55 (and 9.71 en-route for 100y) for the seldom-run 100 meters, got his second record of the season by winning the B-60m in 6.57 at the Nike Indoor Classic in Columbus, Ohio(March 13-14). All 3 of his records still stand 20 years later!

Yep ,,combest was phenomenal ,,Carl Lewis reckoned he had the fastest start and first 15-20 he had ever seen , period ! .......poor ole Casey had no guidance ,,so it wasn't a surprise he ended up selling dope. He would have run 6.3s over 60 meters had he had the guidance , but it wasn't to be. He dug a small trench out the back of his garden , for starts over 20 meters ,,i.e. Tunnel vision and dirt ,,,,they nicknamed him the seabiscuit of track and field ,,he regularly beat Tyson gay in highschool meets

Rex Chapman was mentioned in the March Madness post. I looked him up, and both he and Casey are from Owensboro, Kentucky.
Two big caste busters from the same small town in Kentucky. Pretty incredible!

Yep what amazing hops Rex chapman had ,,,phenomenal athlete ,,,I once saw him almost reverse dunk a basketball from just inside 2/3 feet inside the free throw line on tv in 1989 against Bill laimbeers pistons , **** me what athleticism ...blocked dumars and Thomas at least 2 times a piece ,,and the hornets won that game with a pretty white roster . He should have been a perennial all star ,,, but he had his highlights including outclassing Jordan in several games over his career .....but man oh man he was so exciting with the hornets ,,,

It looks like Casey Combest’s son is a sprinting prodigy. It’s too bad Combest didn’t reproduce with a white woman as I’m sure all of his son’s sprinting genes come from him anyways. Either way, it seems like Casey may have turned his life around so good for him. I won’t root against his son growing up and doing well in the sprints, but man how good would it have been if he had reproduced with an Abby Steiner type woman!

He seems like a good dad and his son seems well mannered. Yes, as it relates to the big picture, his genes passing on as we want didn’t happen with his first son. But thankfully that’s a kid with a good dad active in his life so society will be better for it. I don’t allow hate to get in my soul towards any other race...that is a lowering recipe. I also won’t be stopped by anyone to support and empower my own race towards success in ever possible aspect of life.

Yeah I agree. The world is already screwed up and there’s no fixing it. It’s a bummer that Combest didn’t produce a white kid but that’s hardly a reason to root against his son. If he ends up being a special talent with world class ability, we will know where it came from at least.
