Panthers coach Dave Canales said rookie RB Jonathon Brooks (knee) may not be ready for the start of training camp.
Canales also said Brooks has a ways to go before he is ready and the team will ease him into training camp. Brooks suffered a torn ACL late in his final season at Texas and is still recovering from the injury. Previous reports were optimistic that Brooks would be cleared by training camp, but Canales and the Panthers are now pumping the breaks. Chuba Hubbard and Miles Sanders are the next men up on Carolina’s depth chart. Hubbard proved far more effective than Sanders last year and would likely get the first crack at the starting gig if Brooks misses any time.

Lots of airlines have actually said (which is really hard to believe) they would be lowering standards for pilots so that more minorities can be hired. There’s an Elon/Don Lemon debate about this. Redicolous.
This may not be the case in these instances, but it’s scary to know that things like this are trying to be implemented. hf

Clowney has never lived up to his No. 1 overall pick status, but he's had a decent career. Say a disappointment (for those who care) rather than a bust. His biggest issue that I've seen over the years that I've watched him is that he noticeably takes plays off. Sometimes entire series or quarters off. Not to worry, somebody will sign him for the few plays a game that he actually tries.

I'd have to agree with @Bucky - the Clowney hype was peak levels of retardation and for that reason he is a bust. Even in old scouting reports they mentioned his tendency to take plays off as an issue. The types of players with the question marks Clowney pretty much never pan out. Sure Clowney has some sacks but he was never a game changing player. Give me high motor 4th rounders like Jared Allen or Trey Hendrickson over "upside" players that lack self discipline.

A physical specimen with a rare size-speed combination, Clowney was not as impactful as a junior while playing through injuries and being forced to deal with opposing offenses that fully accounted for him with extra chip protection. Was a 20-year-old junior affected by turnover on the defensive coaching staff. Could benefit tremendously from a stable positional coach and strong, veteran mentor on the defensive line who will hold him accountable, show him the way and serve as a fatherly figure. Is one of the most unique talents in the draft and could easily be a double-digit sack producer in the pros from either end. Is every bit worthy of the first overall pick -- will immediately upgrade a defensive line and improve the production of those around him.
