Here's a nice package of Skattebo rookie highlights:
I like Cam's confidence:
Cam Skattebo insists he will be "ready to go" Week 1 as he continues his rehab from a gruesome leg injury. That is good news for the Giants as the running back had 125 carries for 617 yards and seven touchdowns as a rookie. Skattebo has much bigger goals for his second season. "I do not consider that successful for me," Skattebo said of his rookie season, via Stephen Whyno of the Associated Press. "I had 400 yards on 100 carries. When I play 17-plus games this year, it's going to be 300 carries for over 2,000 yards."
Our view: As Profootballtalk.com points out, nine running backs have had a 2,000-yard season, the most recent coming by Saquon Barkley in 2024. Eric Dickerson owns the NFL record with his 2,105 rushing yards in 1984. Tiki Barber holds the Giants team record with 1,860 rushing yards in 2005. Skattebo's lofty goals might be over the top, but even though he only appeared in eight games last season, Skattebo was RB10 when he was hurt, despite not being a starter until Week 4. His RB20 ADP makes him an appealing play.
Hard to disagree with that, though I think we sometimes assume White athletes are familiar with the racial dynamics of sports when they often aren't. White athletes grow up being bombarded with the same never contradicted propaganda and myths that turn Whites into DWFs.Because jealousy will ensue and the white man more than likely suffer a season ending cheap shot like Skattebo last year. Unfortunately, I think it’s best to just fly under the radar. Put up numbers but don’t be flamboyant or you’re gonna be a target as a white rb.
Jordy was the perfect example. Break off a 80 yard td, toss the ball to the refs and then turn around embrace his teammates. I know blacks do it all the time, but it drives me nuts when white scores a touchdown, and then run away from their team and flex or celebrate and some other way. Makes them a target and and their black teammates, resent them. The tight ends can get away with it cause they’re bigger faster, and stronger than the linebackers and safeties that will target them,Hard to disagree with that, though I think we sometimes assume White athletes are familiar with the racial dynamics of sports when they often aren't. A generation ago I watched the few White receivers in the league be brutalized on a regular basis. Eventually they learned better when to go down rather than constantly absorbing crushing hits, and also the league has done a better job of trying to reduce head hunting. I love Cam's enthusiasm and self-belief, but hopefully he's smart enough to know when a play's over, much like Jaxson Dart needs to if they both want to thrive in the NFL.
