RTTAS - hope you didn't think we were piling on you. Just from what I saw with kaepernick was that he thrived in harbaughs one read option scheme and struggled to take any steps to grasp the offense. The 49ers were a good and complete team under Harbaugh.
That's one thing that I've always noticed with starting black quarterbacks.. The team is always built to protect them; great run game/great defense, are always a given. They usually have one of the best o-lines; not that it matters, because they usually get the blame for the black quarterbacks' lack of pocket awareness.
Any quarterback would have killed to be at the helm of that 49ers team of 2012-2014. Look at the Panthers and Seahawks of the last few seasons; as a quarterback, you literally shouldn't be in the NFL if you can't get those teams in the playoffs. Same thing with the Vikings.
However, when White quarterbacks are drafted and brought in, they are expected to 'make do' with whatever is available. If they can't they'll find themselves without a job very quickly.
Black quarterbacks almost always get the advantage of stability, and 3-4 years of development, where White quarterbacks are expected to right the ship immediately.
