Under the table Winston's feet made convulsive movements. He had not stirred from his seat, but in his mind he was running, swiftly running, he was with the crowds outside, cheering himself deaf. He looked up again at the portrait of Big Brother. The colossus that bestrode the world! The rock against which the hordes of Asia dashed themselves in vain! He thought how ten minutes ago--yes, only ten minutes--there had still been equivocation in his heart as he wondered whether the news from the front would be of victory or defeat. Ah, it was more than a Eurasian army that had perished! Much had changed in him since that first day in the Ministry of Love, but the final, indispensable, healing change had never happened, until this moment.

The voice from the telescreen was still pouring forth its tale of prisoners and booty and slaughter, but the shouting outside had died down a little. The waiters were turning back to their work. One of them approached with the gin bottle. Winston, sitting in a blissful dream, paid no attention as his glass was filled up. He was not running or cheering any longer. He was back in the Ministry of Love, with everything forgiven, his soul white as snow. He was in the public dock, confessing everything, implicating everybody. He was walking down the white-tiled corridor, with the feeling of walking in sunlight, and an armed guard at his back. The long-hoped-for bullet was entering his brain.

He gazed up at the enormous face. Forty years it had taken him to learn what kind of smile was hidden beneath the dark moustache. O cruel, needless misunderstanding! O stubborn, self-willed exile from the loving breast! Two gin-scented tears trickled down the sides of his nose. But it was all right, everything was all right, the struggle was finished. He had won the victory over himself. He loved Big Brother.

yes, sir. sadly, this reference is spot on.

Just wanted to say how grateful I am to the U.S Navy Seals for taking this guy out. A few things to comment on:

1. The world is no doubt a better place with no Bin Ladin, but there will be new faces emerging at the top like Zawhari? and others. This battle will be going on for a while.
2. I am guessing that all the U.S Navy Seals picked for this mission were white. Now, I could be wrong, there may have been a minority, but I think most of the top American guys equipped for a job like this are Caucasians.

Now on to the freedom of Speech and Surveillance issues: I learned about the quote from Benjamin Franklin "those that would sacrifice a little liberty for a little security, deserve neither". I may be one of just a few on here that don't see a problem in the age of nuclear weapons for the CIA to listen in to phone calls. This is as long as they only go after terrorists and murderers with the info gathered and not "lower" level criminals like drug dealers etc.

I do worry about the crack down on freedom of speech, the police state and the new hate crimes bills push. However, I think that with weapons out there that could kill millions and so many enemies of America and the west, that (in the right hands) listening to a few phone calls of which they think vital info to protect citizens can be gathered is o.k. If abuse of power comes out of this, than I might change my mind, but I have nothing to fear myself as an upstanding citizen who is now in Canada.

On to another issue. I see a difference between censorship of obscenities and things fraudulently posed as "art" on the internet or in magazines, videos etc (ie. h.c porn and other filth) and freedom of "speech" on the internet like this. I believe that all "speech" should be protected as long as it isn't terroristic threats, complete lies presented as fact to damage another person, or speech to insight violence or to cause a panic/riot like yelling "fire" in a theater.

I hope that in this dangerous world with Radical Islam being such a problem that liberties can be upheld and that decisions on protecting people and our children will be put in the right hands. Hopefully the U.S Constitution will be followed and America will one day be the land that it was when Vince Lombardi left it!

BTW, what do you guys think of water boarding? Doing this to Kalid Sheik Muhammad was supposedly what gave the first lead on finding Bin Ladin. I'm o.k with it as long as it is only used on terrorist bosses who they have good reason to think have valuable info.Edited by: ToughJ.Riggins

But why, even in the admission that the evidence is discarded, would you have any reason to believe this?

IF someone really was assasinated (and I suspect that there was), maybe it is this man: Mohammed Omar. If they do eventually release photos, they will have his eye all messed up, and nothing to distinguish height -- so as to hide the identity of Omar, who had lost an eye and is thought to be tall.

The Chinese have their own version of the story: CHINESE NEWS AGENCY: Pakistan Killed Osama, The US Just Swooped In At The End

I write "assasinated" above. Or is there a better term for invading a sovereign country of an official ally? And, is it possible to impeach the Commander-in-Chief if this man is not legally the president? I refer to Resident Obama.

This whole affair has been an eye-opener to me. I cannot believe it is all carefully orchestrated in the sense that the media were given their scripts beforehand. But the way people have fallen in-line immediately even in the face of a deliberated lack of evidence, I cannot comprehend. It is almost like a hypnotic trigger, but I cannot believe that either.

Also, big props to Rashard Mendenhall. A decent man speaking with reason and humanity, and already treated like a pariah or worse because of this. I hope that his skin color DOES protect him, but I'm not so sure that it will. My guess is that the real villains will be color-blind when it comes to defending their corrupt idea of civilization. After all, this is high crime when one of the priests of the national religion speak a heresy.

Oh, and I just heard in the background from the BBC news report that those in the compound were his wife and family -- everyone unarmed. And no woman as a shield, either. According to this report, they were unarmed, but were resisting arrest. One of the women came at the Seals -- unarmed. And those big, strong men apparently couldn't fight her off without shooting. No, I am not blaming people who have to act quickly in a difficult situation. But I am saying that here is another inconsistency in a pile of manure that was from the beginning without a basis for belief -- and deliberately so.

Maybe the bankers didn't like the idea of a Chinese-dominated world economy by 2016, and so they decided they needed some way to pull the USA out as soon as possible.

This is surreal, and for me, it is the last straw. I don't need any more signs to know the general route.Edited by: Observer

Bin Ladin lol.
I'd simply congratulate the fellow (whoever he is and most likely is White, Christian) for making the killshot on Bin laden. Congratulations too on the whole Navy SEALS team.

This one great moment though is being blown out of proportion as the media is once again renewing it's slobbering affair with Obama, as if he's the "greatest POTUS ever."

Bush I enjoyed stunning success in Operation Desert Storm (1991), but that didn't get him re-elected (1992) thanks to a fledgling economy. Don't expect this glory to last long, the fledgling economy, which is MUCH WORSE than in 1991-92, will bring him down in 2012.

Unless... the sheeple mass is really that stupid!!!!!

Tough J I am almost 99.5% sure that all of those SEAL Operators are White. Some of my DWF/liberal friends are still in mental masterbation mode over the killing of OBL. Yeah the glow of this Op and BO's correct decision will fade every time ppl pump their gas, wake up 1200 noon to watch Oprah, cause they have job.

Seriously, if White America re elects this fool without a teprompter, then we r doomed.

Hahaha. Yes, the federal government is so well-known for its restraint, I'm sure they would neeevvvvvver use the Patriot Act to go after anyone but "terrorists." How naive can you be.

Obama assured his re-election the moment the GOP allowed Paul Ryan to talk about healthcare.

TJR, I enjoy your posts, but I'm with GLS on this one. As a long-time member of this site, I'm surprised you can be so naive as to think the federal government and all the clandestine agencies "only" go after the supposed bad guys with the powers that they have.

Remember, the internet has been around since the '60s, but only became available to the general public in the '90s. So, the government is at least 30 years ahead in whatever technology they possess. There's no doubt in my mind that everyone is being monitored, whether it's thru phone calls, internet postings and visits, the gps in your car/smart phone, and any other electronic means. All that stuff goes into a data bank where potential threats are examined and determined.

We at CF and thousands of other message boards/forums are permitted to post and chat so long as we're not perceived as a threat. So, it's important to be aware of what you say, when you say it, and put it in proper context. While we discuss some great topics and expose so many lies and distortions here, ultimately, we do not represent any sort of danger to the establishment and are therefore allowed to go on, for now anyway.

. I checked up your term, and yes, flagging (or weakening) is a better way to put. Thanks for the heads up!

Going back to what I was implying, the U.S constitution protects "freedom of speech" not obscenities falsely presented as "art" etc. from censorship.

On to what GLS said: I wasn't worried when I was living in Jersey about a phone call or two I made possibly being listened too b/c I'm an upstanding citizen.

I think that it probably is worth it in the age of nuclear weapons (with the Muslim 12ers and other nuts) for the CIA, FBI, NSA to be able to monitor phone calls from potential threats without having to wait when it could possibly save "millions" of lives with the worst kind of terror plot.

I'm more concerned on fighting an oppressive government political issue by political issue and fighting against each individual case where power has been abused and liberties unfairly taken from people. And yes, there are a lot of them.Edited by: ToughJ.Riggins

Silly stuff. You're Canadian right? Maybe that explains why they jail and fine people that make "unsensitive" jokes there. You really have no concept of what FREEDOM means. It's just a word to that you throw out there without understanding the true meaning. I guess you are like a lot of Americans now.

What phone call in the history of mankind would have effected millions of lives? And why would anyone trust the criminals that run our government to make the right decisions when listening into peoples calls. The 4th Amendment handles this problem properly. It is the LAW. It should be followed by the CIA, FBI, NSA, FEMA, DOD, BATF, ABCD EFG HIJ JIK, LMN, and all of those other alphabet soup organizations that exist only to further the control of power by people that should be in jail for their violation of the Constitution.

It is not everyday an individual that was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize orders an assassination of a foreign national in a foreign nation.
I have been annoying people by referring to BHO as the "Great Crusader," or "Barrack the Lion Hearted," or calling him the Bohomed of our times.
The Moslem world is convinced that Bin Laden is dead. They are complaining about how he was buried and everything else. When do Moslems every not complain?
It is time to leave Afganistan. Unless we are serious about building churches and converting them to Christianity, which no one has ever proposed, there is no reason to stay in afganistan. It is also time to stop giving aid to Pakistan, let them collapse! Also, it is time to deport all Moslems in the USA and to ban them from entering.

Yes, I'm Canadian. I do have more faith in the Canadian government to not govern with double standards as far as how whites, Christians and males are treated as compared to other groups. Yes, the infringement on the freedoms of speech is not good up here. If you were to say that homosexuals will go to hell you could be charged with a crime. I don't agree with making inflammatory remarks like this, but that's not the point, you SHOULD be allowed to say it. Next it will be ministers in churches saying that homosexuality is a sin getting in trouble for speaking the truth. You are allowed to make religious statements like that currently in a church I believe, but more hostile inflammatory speech is banned.

I'm under the impression that the government under Obama is still listening into phone calls anyway whether we like it or not, they're
just lying about it. My point is what if Radical Muslims had snuck a nuke into America and a lead from a suspicious phone call allowed the FBI to find the terrorists and their nuke.

You do have some very valid points though jaxvid, as I don't trust the U.S government on most things. I don't trust the Canadian government either, but I do prefer it to the one down south overall. I am sick of the U.S Republicrat political system and would probably vote for Ron Paul if I still lived in Jersey in the 2012 Presidential election.

BTW jaxvid, if you've read my rare political posts you would know that I'm a libertarian on most issues.

It is ridiculous and anti-male, an infringement on females liberties too, to jail men and emotionally hurt women for payment for sex in the privacy of someones home etc. This puts it in more dangerous places like pimping girls out on dark corners. This is especially so when there is a more sadistic, even violent, form of this available on the internet ie. h.c porn. The double standard is sickening.

The other issue that disturbed me with my wrongful arrest in Jersey was that more than half of small town cops have probably tried Marijuana, yet beat and arrest people for having it in their possession. A girl my uncle knew was thrown up against a police car violently, WHILE PREGNANT, for having a hash pipe in her car when she was picking up her fiance from a bar (it supposedly was her fiance's not hers' anyway. I was arrested for suspicion of being high. The cop lied on the police report to cover his ass from a lawsuit as well. Luckily I was exonerated, but I was out money and the cop received no punishment or suspension.

Add to this all the cops my cousin or uncle knew of that smoked weed in H.S or college that they told me about after my wrongful arrest..One cop he knew even drove an ice cream truck after smoking weed and drinking in the summer at his friends parties, what a crock the small town police force is in Jersey.

And I hear Eliot Spitzer might get reelected. He got no punishment for being a John when he had prosecuted those very people.

How many outrageous double standards will it take for Americans to wake up to the hypocrisy and lack of freedoms. I consider myself more free and don't fear the police up here.

The sadistic and those with money and power can get away with nearly anything in places like Jersey in the U.S, but it is illegal to have minor addictions. Bad behavior is being encouraged by an immoral media. The PTB are free to partake in these things, but those average Joes are arrested when they are only hurting themselves and even that's arguable.

I also heard on the O'Reilly factor about a judge who was being paid off by a private jail and sentenced a young adult male to 3 years in prison for a repeat possession of Marijuana offense. The guy went on to kill himself in prison, before it was found out that the judge was taking payoffs. What will it take for the sheeple to wake up! The U.S has the highest incarceration rate (according to the last statistic I read) IN THE WORLD.Edited by: ToughJ.Riggins

Yes your story is unfortunately typical of other similar horror stories I have experienced and heard from other people. I certainly sympathise with you. That is why I ask that you not encourage those kinds of people from having the power to listen in on peoples private communication. The cop(s) that did you wrong are the same kind of people that make up the agents from those govt agencies you listed above. It takes them ten years to stumble upon Bin Laden but they will bust the first guy that they listen in on and can charge with a crime.

Getting back a little closer to the topic, McCain and Rogers say releasing Osama's "death photo" is too big of a risk. What a sham this whole thing is.

releasing the picture publicly could endanger U.S. forces in Afghanistan

Rep. Mike Rogers, chairman of the House

sentiments around the world and hamper intelligence cooperation with the
United States. He says conspiracy theorists won't be persuaded no

Rogers released a statement
Wednesday opposing release, as the White House debates whether to

Well thanks for sympathizing with me jaxvid. It is my fear of a GIANT "NUCLEAR" attack that has me in the least considering having the government "HIGHER LEVEL" agencies listen in to phone calls. Remember, I doubt it would be the local police with technology to do this, it would be people with higher IQs in the FBI, CIA etc. with degrees from prestigious colleges.

Even though Obama has claimed he is stopping the monitoring of phone calls, I believe he is lying and they still are doing it to some extent.

Pakistan has nuclear weapons and many radicals. Azerbaijian is a former Soviet country bordering Iran that has some left over nukes and lots of Muslims.

Funny how the details and facts of the Osama assassination are changing by the hour. Go figure.

Let us assume for a moment it was really OBL that was killed. What a golden opportunity was lost.

If he had been interrogated and tried he could have once and for all shed light on all details surrounding 911.

The collaborators, their plans, motives and possible future actions would be laid bare for all the world to see.

That would have put an end to all the speculation as to the real perpetrators, wouldn't it?

But gosh darn it! We had to (supposedly) shoot an unarmed man and dump him into the ocean.

All the actions apparently in violation of International Law.

Now we will never know the truth!

NOT A WISE DECISION !!!!

Or maybe it was?

There has been as much hard evidence linking OBL to the Twin Towers destruction as there was for Saddam Hussein possessing weapons of mass destruction.

Release the photos. We are a nation that enjoys the manycrime scene TV shows and we like mobies like Saw. We need not fear Moslem anger. Moslems will get angry no matter what we do. Moslems act like every day is their time of the month.

BO, is such a selfish prick and fraud He said "we don't want to spike the ball in the faces of muslims by showing the pics of UBL." Yet WTF is doing today at Ground Zero? Never once has he visited that location of unbelievable carnage on 9/1/11, he is spiking the ball for himself.

This malignant narracist attempted to lure W. and Clinton to the event tommorrow in an attempt to show them both up. Both, wisely told not so fast.
