Gavern was down three times in the 7th and did not beat the count the third time.

The punch that ended it was a body punch to the solar plexes.

Ustinov-Pulev should be a good fight.

[h=1]Povetkin-Rahman rescheduled for Sept 29[/h] The Sporthalle Hamburg will host a championship heavyweight doubleheader on September 29. The main event of the evening will be the WBA Heavyweight World Championship between Alexander Povetkin (24-0, 16 KOs) and mandatory challenger Hasim Rahman (50-7-2, 41 KOs). The next highlight will see European heavyweight champion Kubrat Pulev (16-0, 8 KOs) take on Alexander Ustinov (27-0, 21 KOs) from Russia.
“We were going to fight in Hamburg on July 14. But we had to cancel the event due to an injury sustained by the challenger Hasim Rahman. Now it seems that Rahman is back to full fitness and we are happy to be fighting in Hamburg on September 29,â€￾ said the delighted Managing Director of Sauerland Event, Chris Meyer.
This will be Povetkin´s second outing in Hamburg, located in the north of Germany. In November of 2005 he won a one-sided decision against Canadian born Stephane Tessier. “I still remember this fight really well. After that, I have been to Hamburg on several occasions visiting my promoter Kalle Sauerland,â€￾ said Povetkin. The 32-year-old is planning on delivering a great fight against the former champion from the USA who once beat Lennox Lewis. “This will be my third defence since winning the title last year against Ruslan Chagaev. I have been preparing a long time for this fight. Obviously I was disappointed after Rahman pulled out in July due to his injury. But that is in the past. Now my whole focus is on September 29 and defending the world championship in Hamburg.â€￾
The second Highlight of the evening will see Kubrat Pulev entering the ring in Hamburg. The 31-year-old won the EBU-Title against Alexander Dimitrenko in Erfurt on May 5. The prodigy of coach Otto Ramin, who trains in Berlin, has a huge following in his homeland Bulgaria. Now his next mission is to defend the European and IBF International Title against the Russian colossus Ustinov who weighs over 300 lbs on September 29 in Hamburg. But the winner will not only be in possession of the belts but he will also move up to number one in the rankings of the IBF and is one step closer to a fight for the world championship.

I think this is a more interesting fight than the main event which should be a very easy walkover for Povetkin, and if it isn't it will be pathetic. Does the show start at 9:30PM ET?

The undercard on BoxNation starts at 2 PM Eastern time.

The EPIX telecast of the main event(s) starts at 4:30 PM Eastern.

At one time having a fight with David Tua was similar to having a date with the executioner. Lately Tua has been vulnerable and has clearly aged, Ustinov has a good chance in pulling off the nominal upset. Here's a link to the press conference announcing their crossroads bout....http://www.fightnews.com/Boxing/tua-vs-ustinov-press-conference-217062

Tua looks very fat. Should be an easy win for U so long as he doesn't get caught by a stray KO punch.

Weights: Ustinov 292.9 Tua 236.9

Ustinov looks to be in slightly better shape than for his past few fights.

Here's a stream for the Ustinov-Tua fight, I think it will be starting soon.

I watched a replay of the fight off of a pirate boxing site and this win is a decent win for Ustinov. Tua still has something in the tank as his shots weren't slow and he wasn't gassed in the fight. I actually think Tua could have won if he was fighting a normal sized heavyweight. Where this leaves Ustinov who knows as he isn't high profile like Tua so a title shot isn't a given. Hey if he gets a title shot and wins maybe he can become the most famous Ustinov......http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zdfi26kYni4 Note this commercial could be the Ustinov camp if the promoter's cheque bounces....

[h=1]Chauncy Welliver replaces Kimbo Slice[/h] 6’7 heavyweight Alexander Ustinov (29-1, 21 KOs) will now take on Chauncy Welliver (55-9-5, 22) instead of 40-year-old street fighting legend Kimbo Slice (7-0, 6 KOs), who was originally announced. Welliver was stopped in five rounds last month by unbeaten heavyweight contender Lucas Browne.

Can't Ustinov get a legitimate fight? He should be getting a big money fight with Tyson Fury because Fury screwed him and stood him up.

Chauncy Welliver, who posts online a lot, posted this link to his fight with Ustinov, for what it's worth...

I saw his facebook posts. I thought he was a black guy just by his name, but apparently he's a heavyset white guy. He seems like a nice guy, very honest in his description of the fight and calling himself a journeyman. He did state Ustinov is very slow.

Yes, Welliver does sound like a nice guy. He's a white guy from New Zealand. A case of a corpulent 300 pound man who is in good enough shape to easily go all the rounds with a world class heavyweight. He said that Ustinov was physically strong but "had no snap". He's 55-10-5, 31 years old. Being that heavy can't be good for his health, though.
