Anyone see this Russian. Hes huge at 6'7 high 200's. I understand he was a kickboxer before. He is unbeaten though he hasn't faced any noteworthy fighters yet. He could be someone to watch for.

I have seen him kickbox and he is formidable kick boxer with a 46-6 record,never been ko'd in any of his losses. I have seen him in one professional boxing match and he looks like he has good potential, he is 6'7 and 300 lbs and is 31, another big strong slav.

He is solid guy too. I expected to see a flabby mess at that weight. Where do they get these guys?

One thing though he has to have excellent pace judgement as he is carrying around a lot of weigh in an endurance sport.

He is another good Eastern European fighter. As was pointed out he is solid too, and seems to fight often enough. The one negative is his age. He is a little old to make a title contention, but we need guys at all levels of boxing, from journeyman to champion! I hope he continues his winning streak.

I didn't mean he's too old to make some noise, but at 31 unless he really gets a move on I think it's a bit too old to be just starting out. With his extensive kickboxing background, he should try to move along a little faster. If he keeps taking things slowly, he will be too old to challenge for a world title. He needs a Michael Sprott as the next fight on his resume. A really good test to see where he stands at Euro-level. If he wins (and he would most likely win a unanimous decision), then he can take the next step, against Williams or somebody, and be ready for the big time (not necessarily a title, but at least some big time fights) before 20 fights. If he keeps fighting guys 4-0, etc, his age will prevent him from anything big.

I think he may be one of the more talented big men just getting started. I hope he gets a fight with Sprott next.

Is a fight with Sprott in the works? It will be a few more years before this guy gets a title shot thats if he keeps winning and beats some decent opponents. Seems like these Russians keep popping out of nowhere.

I don't think he has anything set up yet, he just fought last week I think (or the week before). He already beat Sedrick Fields, and fellow undefeated Eastern Euro prospect Rudolf Abramyan. I think Sprott would be a good choice of opponent. He's very tough and durable, but he will more importantly show right where Ustinov stands. Even a loss wouldn't hurt Ustinov too much against Sprott. It would be a great learning experience, and a win over Sprott would definately move him up the Euro rankings, as well as getting him some bigger paydays.

Rising heavyweight star Alexander Ustinov (14-0, 12 KOs) of Belarus seized a vacant EBA title with a convincing fifth-round TKO over Ukrainian Maxim Pedyura (11-1, 10 KOs) moments ago at Sports Palace in Kiev, Ukraine. Ustinov was surprisingly quick for a man of his colossal stature, using his jab to control defensive-minded Pedyura and overhand right to regularly rock him. However, the Ukrainian fighter used his skills to avoid an early knockout. The bout was stopped in round five after Pedyura's nose started to bleed strenuously.

He looks like he's ready now. I'd say another five fights or so at the most. They plan to move him quickly because he's older - get him in with a few fringe contenders this year, and in 2010 he'll be ready to fight in an eliminator.

Yes, Ustinov is definately ready for a title shot within 2-3 fights if he wants it. He's huge, but doesn't move like it. He will be a good one.

On the other hand, I hope Pedyura bounces back from this. He looks like he could be pretty good too!

Rising Eastern European heavyweight star Alexander Ustinov (14-0, 12 KOs) will be back to the squared circle on March 21 at Hanns-Martin-Schleyer Halle in Stuttgart, Germany, as a part of Klitschko - Gomez undercard. Ustinov, 32, who is born in Russia and possesses Russian citizenship, lives in Minsk, Belarus, and fights under Ukrainian K2 East Promotions banner, will take on American Danny Batchelder (25-6-1, 12 KOs) in a non-title clash.

Ustinov, former kickboxing and muay thai star, is coming off a fifth-round TKO win over previously unbeaten Ukrainian Maxim Pedyura two weeks ago. That victory brought a vacant EBA title as well as the WBA ranking to the 6'7'' fighter. Batchelder, also 32, is best known for a string of quality wins in lower weight classes, including victories over former champion Arthur Williams and perennial contenders Segundo Mercado, David Lopez and Laudelino Jose Barros. However, he has lost five of his last six bouts.

Instead of Batchelder, I would have preferred Ustinov fight Danny Williams, Friday Ahunyana or Monte Barrett.

Batchelder is a decent fighter, but he's a natural cruiserweight and has several losses over the past few years. He was robbed of a deserved win in his fight with Toney, and the stoppage in his fight with Dimitrenko was a bit premature.

Sprott is a very good stepup for Ustinov. I like the way K2 promotions is bringing him along. Hopefully he impresses.
