Aaron Rodgers is becoming a helluva quarterback. Yes, he can throw accurately and put up numbers with the best of them, but he can also run very well.

How does he compare with the affletic starting QB's in the league who have played more than a handful of games? He's outperforming them. He has the best rushing average and most TD's.

Formatting is off.

RUSH YDS AVG TD

D Garrard 50 218 4.4 2

J Campbell 31 158 5.1 0

D. McNabb 20 78 3.9 1

J Russell 16 39 4.3 0

Shaun Hill of Frisco and the QB's in Tampa have better averages but have not played very much.

If you're wondering about Radio?

V Young 36 151 4.2 1

Rodgers who looks to PASS first is playing a lot like Steve Young.

A Rodgers 45 247 5.5 3

He does remind me a lot of Steve Young when he first started for the 49ers in the early 90's. His numbers are even very similar comparing their numbers when Young first took over for Montana in San Francisco and Rogers first two years as a starter. Right now, I think it would be hard to argue that he is not a top 10 caliber quarterback in the NFL, and it may not be very long before we can start to throw around the words Elite and Aaron Rodgers in the same sentence. I would say there are only a handful of QB's who are right now better than Aaron Rodgers. Of course Manning, Brady and Drew Brees are at the top of the list as well as Warner and Favre for the immediate time being. He is every bit as good as Roethlisberger, McNabb and Rivers. In my book, maybe a slight notch above them because of his mobility. The development and progress of Rogers is night and day compared to Vince Young who is still a completely run first minded RB playing QB, despite Young actually starting 6 more games in his career than Rodgers.

Announcers did highlight his overthrows this week (true), but they did gloss over some drops and fumbles, all committed by the people of the race that is considered athletically superior to whites. His O-line did kind of expose him a couple of times allowing the sad sack Bears a couple of sacks. Fullbacks blocked well, but no touches and Jordy was frozen out. IMHO not a good game overall even if the stud LB Clay got a sack and Hawk was in the mix as a playmaker.

I don't know how many Rodgers's passes I've seen bounce off or whistle through his receiver's hands, many of which would have been for third downs or TDs. Seems to happen three to five times a game or so.

But you could probably say that about every NFL QB. Edited by: The Hock

If Rodgers was on a team with a better record he'd have to be at the top of the list for MVP. What he does better than Manning, Brady, Brees, Rivers, etc, is take the ball and run when needed for a first down, touchdown or whatever. In his brief career he has amassed a total of 65 TD's by his arm and legs and has only thrown 21 INT's. This is unreal! The knock on him was that he was fragile. Yeah, right. He is the most underrated player in the game.

Can you imagine the media hoopla if Jason Campbell, Jamarcus, Vince Young, or Garrard had those numbers? It would be the story all day every day. Edited by: Bart

what do you know!

Aaron Rodgers has 15 rushing touchdowns in 51 career starts.

For some perspective, Michael Vick has 29 rushing touchdowns in 84 career starts. That's good for 0.34 per start, only slightly ahead of Rodgers' 0.29 per start. Rodgers' underrated legs are a major asset in fantasy and his two scoring runs against the Broncos were not a fluke. He's currently the No. 1 fantasy quarterback, ahead of Tom Brady and Cam Newton.

After 16 stellar years in Green Bay it looks like Aaron Rodgers time in The Frozen Tundra will come to an end.

GM Guntenkunt and Mark Murphy have pushed him to the edge. They cut every Veteran he was close with(Nelson, Cobb, Matthews). Got rid of his QB coach without talking to him. Clearly pissed him off when they inexplicably cut Kumerow. Followed all that up by drafting an upsider project QB. Giving up a lot to get the bum. All the while never really giving him a solid Defense!

I'm looking forward to seeing how the Packers do without Rodgers. The smug current management will find out that you can't replace a Hall of Fame quarterback with a project, no matter how black the project is.

I think getting rid of Rodgers is crazy. I think Gutekunst is incompetent and will be fired after getting rid of Rodgers.

This is starting to look beyond repair. If this was well known before hand youd think the Bears would have made a trade instead of getting a 1st round quota. Or probably not the Bears, but somebody.

This kind of treatment would not happen to another quarterback like R. Wilson? Only to Hall of Fame White Quarterbacks. As Don King would say, "Only in America". What a joke to see his time end like this!

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, top wide receiver Davante Adams -- and four of Green Bay's other top pass catchers -- joined Rodgers in skipping OTAs on Tuesday.

Adams, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Allen Lazard, Devin Funchess and Equanimeous St. Brown were all no-shows at the start of this week's voluntary program, per Schefter. While no veterans are required to attend the earliest OTAs, it's not common for basically an entire position group to sit out, let alone on the same day the team's MVP QB is also absent.

LOL at that receiving corps of bums (minus Adams, who has made himself a lot of money catching passes from Rodgers). No wonder Aaron wants out! Jared Abbrederis and Jake Kumerow could dig their cleats out of the bottom of their closets and immediately be #2 and #3.

I might be the lone dissenting voice on this topic but Rogers is coming off as any diva in the league. The Packers did the same thing to Farve, while the pick looks like a reach and probably will fail as all reports on Love are that he is lost in space. This is an organization that has maintained relevance for close to 30 years, even the Patriots haven't been competitive as long as the Packers have.

People have compared this situation to the Carson Palmer situation but Palmer was roughly 6 years younger and he played for a club that is run like a semi pro team that constantly chisels the players to save a buck.

Palmer could have gone to a rebuilding team, Rogers who is 37 can only go to a win now team and with the way he was talking in the interview would probably retire if he went to a team that was in full rebuild mode.

PS, as far as I know Kumerow is on the Bills 90 man roster and from my frequent listening to the Bills flagship station is viewed as having the inside track to break camp with the team on the 53 man roster as the 4th or 5th receiver on the depth chart.

Rodgers seems to have a prickly personality. He's not on speaking terms with any of his family, which without knowing more about the circumstances seems very sad.

He's a football genius and geniuses often have very complicated personalities, including some off-putting traits. I love watching Rodgers play, and I also like how he stood up several times publicly for Jake Kumerow, not to mention helped make Jordy Nelson the most prolific White outside receiver since Steve Largent and a little bit before that Lance Alworth and Don Maynard.

I will say, the Packers have been fortunate to turn from Favre to Rodgers. 1st Ballot HOF to 1st Ballot HOF... teams like the Dolphins and 49ers are still looking for someone to grab the reins long-term after their HOF quarterbacks retired.

As much as I agree, Aaron is sour grapes here, can you blame him? It seems the GB management is actively pushing him out of town. Love will be a disappointment at best, bust at worst. But GB management is new and they need to make their mark even if it means chasing a HOFer out of town. I swear the egos in GM’s are getting bigger than players nowadays.

Jake Kumerow was rated as the best run-blocking WR in the NFL by PFF, per this article about Indy receiver Zach Pascal. So Kumerow is not only a tall outside target who lit it up in the pre-season and during his little regular season use (16.4 yards per reception), he's a great blocker too. He obviously stood out among a group of over-drafted clowns like St. Brown and Valdes-Scantling, which is why Rodgers wanted to see him get playing time and why he was so angry when Kumerow was summarily cut right after Rodgers had praised him.

And, too, Pascal has been a critical part of the Colts' run blocking efforts. He played the fourth-most run blocking snaps among wide receivers in 2019 (348) and eighth-most in 2020 (328); in 2019, only the Packers' Jake Kumerow was rated as a more effective run blocker among wide receivers. Pascal was rated by PFF among the top 20 run blocking wide receivers in 2020 as well. https://www.colts.com/news/zach-pascal-friday-fun-fact-julio-jones-tyreek-hill-dk-metcalf

I think it comes down to how long Rodgers wants to play. He's filthy rich so he can retire fairly young, as some players are doing. But if he wants to play for several more years looking to Tom Brady as his inspiration, then taking an entire season off at his age would be a real gamble. In 2022 he would go from current reigning league MVP to a 38 year old who hasn't played in two years. He may think he holds all the cards but he doesn't. If he ends up quitting in a huff his legacy will be greatly tarnished.

Well said Don. I might add I don't think the window has closed on the Packers which adds to Rodgers' debit, if they were an aged out overpaid group he would be in a better position. Last year in the NFC champ game some better RT play, move the bonehead CB to the coach at home and have the HC pull his head out of his backside then this team goes to the SB, don't know how they would have matched up with KC but he would have gotten his game. I don't follow it enough to say if this year's group has it but they were close.

On the other hand I can relate to being a bit of prickly sort who goes his own way and in this conformist crap effeminate world it's even more incentive to do what I want when I want which I kind of recognize in Rodgers, and maybe I'm right.

Rumor has it Rodgers is announcing his retirement next week, this rumor being reported by some sports media which I don't have a link to at this moment. Supposedly the sports bookie things are removing the GB bets off their tables at this time since GB goes from SB contender to sub mediocre at best. Some think the covid con-job has added to his desire to move on with life.

One less White qb in the league. One of the best qbs in the modern NFL era. The packers screwed this up completely. Rooting hard for JOrdan Love to fail which I think he has a high probability of doing - erratic passer, not accurate and turn over prone. Gutencuck thinks he has another Farve -Rodgers situation but Love was no where the player Rodgers was coming out.

Gutencuck has also been the mastermind behind the White purge in Green Bay. If Rodgers does decide to retire or somehow force his way out of Green Bay to another team I have no issue with that. The sad fact is most DWFs for the Packers and NFL in general are siding with the organization. Not to mention White fans care nothing about the White replacement going on at the QB position.

Well said Leonardfan, him at GB was about the only reason I watched last year or even planned on watching any NFL games this year. Highlights of white players or good games I might watch, don't want to sound too neg.

Myself I would have taken the covid cash by July 2 and sat out the year, the heck with the NFL.

Agreed. My only gripe with Rodgers is his flair for the dramatic. I wish he would just give his answer rather than let it play out for this long. On the other hand that would destroy any leverage he has if he wants to get moved to another organization so it’s a real Catch 22. I feel the Packers should just accommodate a trade to send him to Denver.
