2025 NFL Wildcard Round

Rodgers doesn't like to throw to Freiermuth for some reason. The other TE, Jonnu Smith, has been a total bust since coming over from the Dolphins. The receiving group is one of the worst in the league. The tackles aren't good at all. Rodgers at 42 lacking the wheels he long had, can only do so much to overcome the pieces around him.

Tomlin punts away the season.
But, but, but, Tomlin has never had a losing season.

I was of course rooting for Rodgers and the Steelers, but I'm glad it's turned into a blowout as Tomlin should have been gone a number of years ago and the anger from the DWFs after this calamity is going to be deafening and very entertaining.

Agreed. It's just tough to see Rodgers potentially go out like this. An all time great. Metcalf with two crucial drops, not getting their best TE involved at all in the passing game, awful pass protection for Rodgers. He certainly is not as fleet of foot as he once was but he was still throwing some ropes out there.

Down 17-6 in the 4th quarter, 4th and 5 from midfield, and Tomlin punts with his trash black punter, to the 20. Then loses 30-6.

Thanks for the many great memories, Aaron Rodgers and Adam Thielen, two players I've enjoyed watching a helluva lot during their careers.

Thielen was fantastic. He certainly bridged the gap between Welker/Jordy and these younger guys in the league now. Another "underdog" that went on to dominate in the NFL.

75% of the remaining QBs in the playoffs are White, a percentage not seen for years. I am still hopeful that, just as the world has turned away from wokeness and DEI in general, this year's Super Bowl will represent a turning point away from the magical melanin at the quarterback position and a return to the traditional dominance of the elite White QBs who have carried the NFL on their backs for the past few decades.

Man that was rough seeing Aaron Rodgers take a beating in his likely last game. I was spoiled with Favre as a kid and Rodgers as a teen. 2 All Time Greats.. Feels like a chapter has closed in my life as well. Don’t think I’ll ever be as passionate about a team like that again. O well, thanks for the memories!

Looking good to break the recent spell of black quarterbacks winning Super bowls

Favre's last game played in was rough to watch. Him having his head bounced off the frozen astro turf of Gopher stadium by a Bears DL while in a Vikes uniform was not the send off I would script.

And now Favre has Parkinsons.. yeah rough exits for 2 All Time Greats.

I bailed out of the game at halftime. Glad that I did! The blowout looks like just what the doctor ordered to possibly get Tomlin tossed.

Texans defense reminds me of the old Seahawks “Legion of Boom” or whatever they called it. They mug the receivers all the way down the field on every play and cheap shot on every tackle. A flag could be thrown every play but the officials become numb to it. Irritates the hell out of me.

The DWFs here were 98% against Tomlin already, but there were some hopes based on the Steelers beating the Ravens in Week 18 to win the division, which was almost the equivalent of a playoff game, plus having Rodgers and his experience.

The local media hacks have mostly been reluctant to call for Tomlin's firing but just about all of them are on the "Fire Tomlin" bandwagon now. I'm just starting to check out some of the local reaction to yet another blowout playoff loss. Here's a sample (there's about 200 comments after the article and growing, a glance shows that all of them are anti-Tomlin) :

It is now nine straight years without a playoff win.

Strike that.

It’s nine straight years without coming close to a playoff win after a 30-6 disaster against the Houston Texans on Monday night at Acrisure Stadium. And it could have been way worse.

It’s also seven straight playoff losses for Mike Tomlin, tying him with Marvin Lewis for the longest playoff losing streak in NFL history, just ahead of (or behind) Marty Schottenheimer and Jim Mora. Tomlin’s average margin of defeat across those seven losses: two touchdowns (and then some).
Think about that. Then tell me you’d give Tomlin another year.

I wouldn’t.

I had never before written that it was time to move on from Tomlin until last year’s playoff debacle in Baltimore, when the defense seemed to quit on him in a two-touchdown loss. You might remember what analyst Kirk Herbstreit said for millions to hear while the Ravens were shredding the Steelers for first-half touchdown drives of 95, 90 and 85 yards:

“I don’t see any fight, any pushback. Where the hell is the fight? This is the Pittsburgh Steelers. There’s nothing. They’re just going through the motions.”

I remember that. A Seahawks defensive black even admitted out loud that it was true, saying they'd commit a penalty on every play knowing the officials couldn't call it on every single one.

With the Eagles and their gay tush push out of the running, and the Black Bears not being a Super Bowl caliber team, the anti-white DEI crowd has latched on to the Texans as their final Great Black Hope. Look for Houston to get a lot of bogus non-calls on dirty plays at New England. Hopefully the talent of Drake Maye & co. can overcome that.

The history of ATG qb's going out with a whimper rather than a bang is long. I recall Montana getting ko'd similar to Farve, Joe Namath rode the pines in Los Angeles.

Manning and Elway send offs are very rare in football...
