Indeed. I feel like I needed a shot of joy. It was long overdue for Christian, since he didn’t record any last season.Glad I caught the SNF game. Made up for all the crappy football I watched all day. CMC getting back on track was a joy.
Great performance by McCaffrey. Still has a shot at 1k rush yards. Mac Jones is 4-1 as starter, he played well tonight.
This one game will have a measurable effect on McCaffrey’s HOF chances.
He will reach it. The offense is heating up. He will put together another 2-3 100 yard efforts plus a handful of. 75+ ones.Great performance by McCaffrey. Still has a shot at 1k rush yards. Mac Jones is 4-1 as starter, he played well tonight.
I’d like to highlight 1 player on the otherwise dark Falcons. 2nd year linebacker JD Bertrand out of Notre Dame appears to have made his 1st NFL start. To no one’s surprise at CF, Bertrand was tied for the team lead with 10 total tackles.
He must have! The line actually looked pretty good run blocking and Kittle was dominating the line of scrimmage as well. Good to have him back. Maybe a few catches next week.I think Kittle lit some fire under oline asses. Difference was staggering! What a game by CMC!
Although this is the general rule when a team goes into a "prevent" with a fair amount of time on the clock, in this instance a properly-played prevent should have worked for a halfway-competent or prepared defense. That is wild…
I agree, prevent defense is an abysmal way to play. All it does it allow big yardage gains and often prevents the team using it… from winning.

I agree.I will say it is nice to see Robinson sprinkled in there to give McCaffrey some breathers. I think it is clear CMC is superior, but doing so will lesson some of the wear and tear on him, while also keeping the defense honest.
Modern "prevent" defenses keep allowing 20-25 yard completions and only cover 40+ yard super deep balls. I've seen it over and over in the New, Exciting Era of Football (TM). The Giants were just the latest (and a particularly egregious) example.Although this is the general rule when a team goes into a "prevent" with a fair amount of time on the clock, in this instance a properly-played prevent should have worked for a halfway-competent or prepared defense.
The whole idea is to keep everything beyond 10 yards covered and only allow really shallow stuff. This then effectively burns the remaining time off of the clock. Giants however are neither competent or prepared.
Barkley is averaging just 3.3 yards per rush this season and has only 369 yards through 7 games compared to 2,005 in 16 games last year (he sat out the last game), so he may well have peaked big time last season. He also has a notable injury history, so the Eagles may have to start using Shipley whether they want to or not.I agree.
Now if only the Eagles would use Shipley like the 49ers use Robinson.
That's exactly what happened. A 29 yard pass and then a 23 yard pass that took the Broncos to the 20 yard line for a relatively easy field goal. Just an epic 4th quarter defensive collapse.Modern "prevent" defenses keep allowing 20-25 yard completions and only cover 40+ yard super deep balls. Gator, if Christian stays healthy and plays at his current pace, this season will mean his Hall of Fame selection is 99% assured!
I get that is the idea, but even when I played prevent continually allowed for large gains and offense could quickly cover the length of the field.Although this is the general rule when a team goes into a "prevent" with a fair amount of time on the clock, in this instance a properly-played prevent should have worked for a halfway-competent or prepared defense.

Yeah, the prevent defense is really tough to pull off with all these mobile quarterbacks now. If the line doesn’t contain the edges and control the line of scrimmage these quarterbacks can pick up huge chunks of yardage and run out of bounds easily against the prevent.I get that is the idea, but even when I played prevent continually allowed for large gains and offense could quickly cover the length of the field.
