Yeah the lack of disciplined secondary (and LB) play always drives me nutz. I'm an old-school coach and even my pop warner kids played better than this.Modern "prevent" defenses keep allowing 20-25 yard completions and only cover 40+ yard super deep balls. I've seen it over and over in the New, Exciting Era of Football (TM). The Giants were just the latest (and a particularly egregious) example.
Yeah, but in this instance they had no time outs and less than 30 seconds on the clock. If you keep them to 10 yard gains or less, there is no way to make it down the field to get in position for a field goal.I get that is the idea, but even when I played prevent continually allowed for large gains and offense could quickly cover the length of the field.
Jack Campbell has been the highlight tonight but his plays came early in the game.Mayfield is having a tough go against the Lions. But when your top receiver is a diminutive 7th round rookie things are bleak.
I’m glad because normally it would be starting same time as the Mariners game 7Crazy that the Texans-Seahawks game has a 9PM Eastern start.

Here in Commiefornia, on the Sunday and Monday night games, we had the "Yes on Prop 50" (a far-left plan to gerrymander the legislative districts even more than they are already) commercial shoved down our throats every 5 minutes. They trotted out Obama (who's aged like milk) to shill for this power grab.Stand up to Jewish hate as they genocide Palestinians. The chutzpah.
Minus this commercial that is airing every 5 minutes, pretty entertaining game!
CMac looks revived, having some holes to run through will do that!
Damn straight. The prevent defense is just everywhere these days. In the 49ers-Falcons game, the Falcons got the ball on their own 20 with 38 seconds left in the first half and one timeout. Any remotely sensible defense should ensure that the Falcons score no more points before halftime. Instead, San Francisco uses the prevent defense and lets Atlanta march down the field into easy field goal range, and are only bailed out by Penix committing intentional grounding.
Just like the quality of play on the field, the quality of coaching has taken a nosedive in the New, Exciting Era of Football (TM).
Gee, I wonder what the possible explanation could be for the decline of football IQ. It's a real mysteryJust like the quality of play on the field, the quality of coaching has taken a nosedive in the New, Exciting Era of Football (TM).
