2022 World Outdoor Season

Karson Kowalchuk finished in a tie for 4th in the mens 100 meters finals of the Big 12 Championships. He ran 10.16 but the wind was slightly over the legal limit
so it will not count as a new p.b. For a kid that is running for his third different college, you have to wonder why a university wouldn't see his talent. The kid has
legitimate talent and I would love to see him try to continue to run after graduation. Kowalchuk probably won't but he should. Very talented sprinter.

It makes one wonder why he is not being coveted by Ahtletics Canada for the National Team as his times are good enough. Guess he is not the right skin colour.

Shae Anderson finished second in the Pac 12 womens 400m final in a time of 51.43 and third in the 200m finals in 23.04(+.01w) which is great as she is not known for her 200m running.

22 year old Italian Sprinter Lorenzo Patta ran a 10.19 wind legal today to open up his season. He will turn 23 in one week from now but Patta still has plenty of time
as his career is just starting to rise. Lorenzo has a personal best time from last year of 10.13 wind legal. I honestly see him going sub 10.10 at the minimum this year. Patta may even get really close to running 10 seconds flat. Slow and steady is the way to do it. Very nice opening time to his outdoor season.

Lorenzo Patta had a nice opening leg for that world championship Italian relay team (37.50) last year so he's already experienced big time winning.
Will be great to see if he can close in on his illustrious team mates, Tortu and Jacobs.

I hope she'll multi-event but if not at least identify her best chances early on - and then hope she doesn't do as so many do i.e. get too mixed up with things non-T&F

Boling also qualified in the 200 meters as well. The weather has been crazy and they had a long rain delay.

he ;looks solid in this race, burns for the first 100 then eases through the last 100m with lots in the tank...hopefully the track conditions improve for next session. Steiner is up today in both the 100m and 200m qualifying rounds heres hoping she advances easily with no injuries/niggles.

Austrian Sprinter Markus Fuchs opened his season running a p.b. of 10.17 wind legal. Very nice time
for him. Anytime sprinters hit their p.b right out of the gate it is usually the start of bigger and better
things. In the same race Jan Volko opened up his summer season with a 10.28 so not too bad for his first race.

Volko is on the cusp: he either gets back on his path or he doesn't as he is not getting any younger. He is a case in point for a massive change in what he does for training/coaching as it is not working to bring him to the next level. If he is satisfied with a 10.28(college time) his first race out then he is seriously in trouble, if he is pissed at the time then he has the fire in his belly still. I wish him the best of fortune for this year and his future years of sprinting.

Agreed. Volko has looked very sluggish in the past 2 years or so.
Remember him winning that European 60m title some years ago? Very sharp and looked to be getting into 10.0 shape but it didn't happen.
He's still only 25 but these next few years count if he wants to be remembered

Todays a big day for Matthew Boling in the NCAA Eastern Finals to see if he can make the NCAA Championships again like
he did last year. He runs both the 100 & 200 meters today. Boling needs to finish in the top 3 of both races or be one of the
few remaining fastest qualifiers. There is alot of talent so let's hope he brings his A Game! I believe he will. He also runs the
4 x 100 relay for Georgia today so he is gonna be exhausted.

Boling through in 200 at 20.24 with 4.4+

Fanbulleh won heat in 19.85. Fanbulleh looks hot hot hot. He was best qualifier in the 100 also at 10.04.

I haven't seen the races, but judging on the times and finish placements, it seems that Boling is running out of gas.
At the same time, Fahnbulleh seems to be getting stronger each round.

Wow did Boling get a horrendous start in his 100m heat. He was moving at the wire though. He will need to have his best start against the field in the final if he wants a shot at winning the 100m

Brandon Miller, freshman at Grand Valley State (we spoke of him in the high school thread), ran 20.44 in the heats at the NCAA II Championships.
