Sad to see Austin Kratz of ASU run a time of 10.53 in his 100 meters heat. I think with all of his injuries it's unlikley he will return to his high school days type performances.
That doesn't mean I'm rooting against him. He is a class act on and off the track. I will keep rooting for him but it would be suprising to see him be competetive at this level.
Just hoping I'm wrong because he seems like such a great kid!

This is a new guy we haven't mentioned before. Karson Kowalchuk who now runs for the Oklahoma Sooners. He is originally from Canada and went to Miss. St.
before transfering to O.U. He ran at the Texas Relays and finished 3rd in his heat with modest time of 10.40. Karson has a p.b. of 10.21 over 100 meters so maybe
he can get back to the form he had a few years ago. I wonder if Sprintstar has heard of him since he is from Canada? Here is his bio.

as predicted the Australian track and field champs in Sydney are awash. Any athlete who achieves well here this week will have really done well. The under 20 100 was won in a windless 10.28 which was fine on a rainy track.
We'll see what happens when the competition opens up for Open athletes later in the week but commentators yesterday were saying yesterday that this weather is predicted for all week as they watched the junior ages pole vault stopped constantly between huge downpours where the trackside tents couldn't protect officials or athletes

WOW what an AMAZING RUN by Jake Doran! 
It's been said for decades that you have to have the leg turnover to go sub 10 before you can actually do it on your
own. Rohan Browning went sub 10 windy as did other white sprinters. I didn't think that Doran had this type of stride turnover. Great to see and YES let's hope this will
give him confidence going forward. I was really expecting Hale to be the one to win here but he seems to be stuck in QUICKSAND. I am very impressed by the 18 year old

I don't think Rohan's still hurt - he didn't need to run here as he's qualified for every meet coming up already. In fact he was down on the track congratulating Olie Hoare winning the 1500m (they went to the same high school 2 years apart).
By the way, some of you guys would have seen/heard Tamsyn Lewis-Manou who interviews the athletes and commentates as she did at Browning's 100m Olympic het win. Here she is at her proudest track moment I think. Valencia World Indoors 800m in 2008.

Thanks for posting all the videos guys. Been doing yard work alot of the day. Couldn't watch it live so it was nice to at least watch some of the races or see the updates. Not
too worried about Boling as he went out a little too hard and gassed himself out in the last 50 meters. Fahnbulleh is also an elite talent that can run down just about anyone.
It still bugs me however that he didn't double up in the 100 tommorow. At least Cole Beck will be running in it.

That was a great race. Doran really impressed me too leading most of the way. Congrats to Aidan Murphy. I think he has the potential to possibly approach both
the sub 10 and sub 20 marks in the next 3 to 4 years if he continues his current trajectory. He has the build of a an elite sprinter for sure.
Australia has alot of young hungry rising young sprinters ready to take on the world. You love to see it! So exciting as it will make for some great relay squads and
hopefully see more of these sprinters reach the level of Browning.

Abby Steiner opened up her outdoor season with a win today at the 2022 Florida Relays in the Womens 100 Meters! She ran a very fast 11.10 wind legal.

That's Murphy's second fastest time ever after his U-20 NR of 20.41 -1.3 at his home track in Adelaide. It's the 5th fastest winning time ever (wind legal), the fastest by a junior in the senior event and it surpasses the 1975 winning time of 20.6h (+0.6) by coach, Peter Fitzgerald.
The only faster legal winning times:
1996-97 Steve BRIMACOMBE (Vic) 20.44(+0.5)
2015-16 Alexander HARTMANN (Qld) 20.46(+0.5)
2005-06 Patrick JOHNSON (ACT) 20.49(-1.5)
2002-03 Patrick JOHNSON (ACT) 20.50(-1.4)
Curiously, Murphy's third fastest time is a tenth slower than his Nationals time despite # 3 having a +1.4 wind. It just shows how rapidly Murphy has progressed this season and how much faster his times could be when he matches his peak performance with decent wind.
For example, his NR would be worth around 20.31 in still conditions and around 20.23 if the 1.3 was a tailwind rather than a headwind. And that's without considering future improvement.
Jake Doran ran a 20.77 for second, like Murphy, also his second fastest time ever. Doran ran his PB 20.76 +0.7 gaining silver at the 2019 Nationals, so provides a cautionary tale for Murphy fans, as Doran was also 18 when he snagged that silver and has not really progressed since. At the 100m, his PB and U-20 NR of 10.15 +1.5 dates back to 2018. At least at 200m, he seems to have regained his momentum and hopefully he will get faster overseas.
Calab Law, another 18 year old, ran 20.90 for 3rd for his first senior medal. This was a strong result given he backed up after winning the U-20 title last Tuesday with a 20.63 +0.7 PB. Law started the season with a 21.11 PB, so he and coach should be happy with his half second progress.
