Yes, good opening for Browning. I'm glad to see that.

I'm disappointed in Mitrevski's performance. I thought he was ready for a sub 10.20.

Outstanding season opener for Rohan Browning. The best sprinters just make it look so easy and effortless. We know all the hard work, training and preparation it takes
to get to that level but when they are on the track it's a work of art. Browning will go sub 10 this year. I would say he has a 95% chance. He just runs 10.10 and sub 10.10 times
effortlessly regardless of the wind. It's great to see him start off the season running so fast!

As for Jack Hale. I was actually impressed. I didn't know what to expect of him but he looked good. To finish 3rd in this stacked field is great. His start was lighting fast and
only Browning got out ahead of him. Nketia always closes on the field as he holds his speed so well. That will be the key for Hale. He faded bad over the last 20 to 30 meters
but that's ok. It's his first race. It's a fine time to build on. He doesn't look like a little kid anymore. Hale has become a man and I really am rooting for him this year!

Thanks for posting the video and I'm excitied to see what Browning can do indoors. Maybe a 6.50 I'm guessing as a new p.b. over 60 meters with a great start!

My thoughts exactly. He has to peak for the championships by early April. That's nearly 7 weeks yet. He'll never be a giant, but he seems to have gradually muscled up in his upper body
 
I'm aware of Australia's historic lack of good 200 men, so I posted this of the 18 year old to show his speed endurance. His first run against seniors because his home state (S.A., here where this meeting is being held) has been in lockout for most of 18 months. It's not too fast but it is encouraging. Lots of time to get better and stronger at 18

same 3 girls fill the places in the 100 too, but 1st and 2nd places reversed. 11.30s/11.40s isn't dynamite but, again, 7 weeks to go before peaking so it will be great to see a team of girls between 11.20 and 11.30. Hana Basic wasn't here. The first 4 places were all Queenslanders, another state that locked out all visitors for a year or so - we now have 6 girls who have run 11.30s or lower all competing together this year.
As with the men, we have an 18 year old placing.
Torrie is a part indigenous lass, runs a bit rough as yet but has lots of upside. A privilege to run against the older ones because this is a big year where she, like Aiden, has World Juniors coming up.
For those unaware of Riley Day, she ran Jenna Prandini out of the placings in Tokyo last year

Yes Aidan Murphy appears to be the real deal. He already has a mans body despite how young he is! It's great to see!

I can't remember ever being this excited about the Australia and New Zealand Mens & Womens Sprint Teams. I love it.

Now I just want to see Jack Hale rise back up to why they nicknamed him "The Hail Storm"!
 


20.41, and into a -1.3. The personal story here makes it even more interesting. His coach, Fred Martin, held that Australian under 20/200 record till his charge broke it yesterday so, in a sense, he is deeply involved all over again. Fred as deaf athlete used to start by looking sideways to see when the others began to move. He was good at it but obviously lost time in the starts at every race.
This time would place Aiden at number 9 under 20 athlete in the world for last year
 
Connor Bond has qualified for the World Juniors in the 100m (10.57 on a damp track with -0.5 wind) and 200m.

Queensland state are having their championships this weekend. Ella Connolly won the 100 in 11.25 yesterday, but most interestingly it was into a 0.5 headwind. That would place her as getting down towards Australian record time in perfect conditions. Riley Day didn't run (saving herself for the deuce) but probably would have pushed her all the way.

What I'm liking in Australia at the moment is not that we've any fantastic standouts (well, maybe Browning) but we have lots of depth to have a good relay squad even allowing for injuries or some running out of form. It's all about more numbers than ever before in both male and female sprints. The Australian championships will be held here in Sydney 3-4 weeks away.

Let's hope our constant rain has stopped by then. We've had 700mm (27.5 inches) of rain spread over 42 days this year. We're over it!
 
go to 1hr 56minutes on the tape above to see Zoe Hobbs win the NZ champs. Sure it was a +2.7 m/s but 11.07 is still hiking. Following that is the men's 100. Where it appeared that 1st and 2nd place would battle right down to the line ......... BUT!

Yes I saw what happened and I feel so bad for him. I think he would have won his first major natl championship. Such a shame. I won't say his name for those that watch it.

Hope your staying safe with all of the flooding in Australia. Never seen it so bad in my life. I've said prayers for everyone living down there including you mate.

Thanks mate. Yes, all safe with us (we're only 4 kms from downtown Sydney city so have very good drainage down to the harbour 2kms away - and 33 metres above sea level). We'll be a nice waterfront block once Antartica melts away LOL.
Looking forward to a 5 day motorcycle trip (out to the dry country) and returning to watch the Australian champs at the Homebush Olympic site last week of March.
 
19 year old Caleb Law ran a 20.67 (+0.3) second 200m to win the QLD state title.
Alex Hartman placed 2nd in 20.73.
Chris Ius and Joshua Azzopardi placed 3rd and 4th in 20.79 and 20.82 seconds.
 
Happy to hear Caleb Law won and set a record in the process. I like Hartman but his best days are in the rear view mirror. I still enjoy watching him though and
it's always great to see guys hungry to still compete after all those years of athletics. Ius and Azzopardi both have some good skills too.

I'm anxious to see Jack Hale soon over 100 meters. He ran a 200 last weekend. I'm also excited to see Browning race indoors in Serbia tommorow.
 
Samantha Dale - another young athlete from the Andrew Murphy stable - this 20 year old just jumped a 38cms PB . No doubt getting plenty of good coaching while Browning is away in Serbia

I looked at the start lists for the Serbia Track Meet tommorow. Not sure what happened but Rohan Browning was not on the starting list of either 60 meter heats?

unfortunately picked up an injury - I'm awaiting disclosure from Athletes Australia Facebook page


just looked up the results - what a dud competition those 60s proved to be.
Volko winning in 6.69 means no-one decent even ran (after Lamont-Jacobs DQ)

I'm hoping for some sunshine in Australia this weekend. I'm also hoping to see the return of the "Hale Storm".

Jack Hale is entered in the mens 100 meters. I'm kind of glad Rohan Browning is not in the race. Maybe it will help Hale to relax knowing
he is probably one of the two fastest sprinters on the track before he hits the starting blocks. The other one would be Eddie Osei-Nketia
from New Zealand. I often have thought that part of Hales problem is a mental block that causes him to tighten up an try to hard. The harder
you try to sprint fast and ususally the slower you run. Jack Hale needs to relax and let the speed flow through him. No one can sprint all out more
than 60 - 70 meters at the most. The guys that win just maintain that top speed longer. I should say that they deaccerlerate slower than the other
sprinters by holding their form and relaxing which makes it appear as it they are still running all out. It's an art form and very hard to get to that
level. Here is to hoping this will be a break though year for Jack Hale. I wish he had more financial support. If he can get a few times around 10.10
to 10.15 this may change or at least I hope so.

To mastermulti. Are you going to be at this meet this weekend? Just curious. If so I hope it's fun and I really hope for nice weather. No more rain! The
flooding in Australia has been horrible with almost 30 inches of rain.
 
Jack Hale ran 10.40 for 2nd with almost no wind.
I have to say, that's quite disappointing.
