2021 Track Season Results

if memory serves, Jackson Webb ran in the indoor track league this winter and SHATTERED his personal best in the 60m, running a 6.59 to take second to another White sprinter (Zach Jewell, 6.58). now his wind-legal 10.22 SHATTERED his pb in the 100m (formerly 10.44). clearly he has taken it to another level in his training, because he is blowing away his previous bests. good for him, and good for us to have another sprinter to cheer for.

there’s a LOT of competition to help drive Matthew Boling to greater heights ... his main NCAA competitor in the 200m is Terrance Laird of LSU, who just dropped a 19.81 in his outdoor season opener. WOW! that’s the third-fastest outdoor deuce in NCAA history.

I saw that about Laird. So when is Boling set to run again? Anyone Know? I thought he would've already?

U of Georgia has a meet scheduled on April 9-10 then another April 16-17, but i don’t know which (if either) Boling will be running.

after breaking 2 minutes for the 800 5 days earlier Linden Hall now gets another OG qualifier, this time in the 1500m where she became the first Australian woman to dip into 3 minutes territory. Quite few fit looking ladies here as they all rejoice with Linden after the race

To run a 10.03 even with a huge tailwind says alot about this kids potential. You still have to move your legs that quick. Jackson Webb has a very fast turnover stride that sets him up to be an elite sprinter. The kid has
all the talent in the world. A good comparisson would be Jack Hale who has had incredible times not allowed because they were windy. Regardless you just knew that Hale has elite talent. Jack Hale has a wind legal
personal best time of 10.12 from last year and he will get faster as he continues to mature. Jackson Webb is a young sprinter to keep a very close eye on. I love his confidence!

Claire Bryant, the freshman at Florida who took 2nd at the NCAA Indoor Championships, jumped 6.68 (21' 11" ) in Florida this weekend.
It's the 2nd longest jump collegiate outdoor jump this year.
I think she will be a collegiate champion in the next few years.

Austin Kratz won a 100m race today in Arizona - 10.62.
Not really a notable time, but it is notable that he is finally racing again.
Two years ago he was one of the fastest high school sprinters in the country (10.33).
But because of injuries and the pandemic, he has been missing in action for the past 2 years.
Glad to see he is back, and hope he can live up to his potential and expectations.

I have to share this clip - it was yesterday's "backmarker handicap" at our Stawell Gift professional runners annual 3 day meeting at the small Victorian rural town of Stawell. These are guys that started at the rear of each 120 metre heat (hence the fastest guys) that didn't quite make up the distance to snatch a win to get into the final.
Also in the field they put Hana Basic who did so well - you'd all agree how well the handicappers did their job of you watch it.

Hana was a world junior rep in 2014 and broke Sally Pearson's Aust junior record that year. We all thought she was lost to the sport but she kept doing a little each year (staying fit and managing mid 12s just to keep in touch) until last year she decided to come back seriously and got a coach to try for the Tokyo women's 4 x 100 team. She did so well that she's now our fastest woman only 18 months later having legal 11.18 and 11.19 runs this past month. If she cracks 11.15 she'll be an individual 100 representative. She looks really honed and strides out beautifully - one to watch.

Keep an eye open for this young man, Ashley Moloney. A well built young decathlete seen here setting his 100PB of 11.34 in Brisbane in December 10.35 (0.4). He also got a 45.82 /400m so, while big enough to throw well he also has scintilating sprint times.
Current Australian decathlon record holder with 8492 pts. He was 20 for all of these PBs and just had his 21st birthday in March

Speaking of the 2021 Australian Track & Field Championships. Does anyone here have any good predictions? I will go first on the mens 100 meters which is always very exciting.

I see Rohan Browning winning again but being pushed alot more this time. If the conditions are right, I will predict another sub 10.10 for Browing and also for Hale to break his
personal best of 10.12! So I will say Browning wins in a time of 10.06 and Hale in a time of 10.09 so they go 1/2 in the final.

I forgot about how tough the Australian Mens 100 meters qualification time is. It's crazy to think about. I think it should be 10.10 as a standard but I know
they have a limited budget. Jack Hale has not shown his form this year. It's so frustrating but my gut tells me he will pop something huge next week. I try to
be a positive person all the time and I believe in the power of positive thinking. Hale needs to be confident and just go out and shock some people. I feel bad for
the kid as he is always the brides maid and not the bride. He lost to Rohan Browning and even Trae Williams. It seems like he wilts under pressure but I got a feeling
he is about to throw down something huge very soon. Hope my gut feeling is right as the kid deserves a new p.b. and a possible ticket in the individual 100 meters! It would
do so much for his confidence going forward. I will be rooting for him and will be stoked if he can get over the hump.

I doubt Hale will come close to his PB again. Something is off about him, maybe small niggles but he is struggling. Browning has the qualifier so unless the conditions are perfect for a sub 10 run I dont see him going all out in case of injury.

interestingly, at their famed schoolboy meet of December 2014 it was Hale who ran down Browning. That may have been the only time he'll ever do it.
I don't know for sure but I wonder if Browning has a far better planned approach to the progression of his sprinting career
