interestingly, at their famed schoolboy meet of December 2014 it was Hale who ran down Browning. That may have been the only time he'll ever do it

It's unusual to see shorter guys like Hale and Williams not get out of the blocks better. Usually the taller sprinters struggle with their starts but come from behind with their huge stride lengths just eating up
the track. Even Usain Bolt was always chasing people down. So was Carl Lewis and countless others. Rohan Browning doesn't really have any weakness in his race. Hence he is almost always leading coming into
the final 30-40 meters. Hale has to improve his start and his drive phase to at least be closer to Browning to have a chance to catch or pass him. Let's hope my gut feeling about Hale is true. He has been in poor to
average form all year so far but something tells me he is about to explode like a viper and shock some people. With Williams switching to Rugby, Australia really needs Hale to step it up and also for a few other young
lads to step up their games and get faster.

Zach Jewell will have his first 100 meter race this saturday. I'm hoping he can build off the great indoor form in the 60 meters! Not sure if any of our other guys are running this weekend? I'm so pumped to see Boling over
both 100 and 200 meters! Boling could possibly become the first white male U.S. Sprinter to go sub 10 and sub 20 ever. He would instantly become a household name and continue to change perceptions.

I'm still hoping John Teeters hasn't given up track. It's an Olympic Year and I would love to see him continue his sprinting career. What a talent he is. Maybe him and Quinn could train together?

Trae Williams sorted his starting problems and lead to his 10.10. Browning started running ragged from 80m, overstriding trying to make up ground. He seems to have learned much since then.
Jack is still inconsistent and seemingly worse when the pressure is on - this video was 3 years ago and notice Hale picks up an injury here

Browning locked up pretty quick after Williams' Ben Johnson like start. If he relaxed and ran his race, he would have reeled him in.

Matthew Boling will be running his first 100 meters of the year this saturday. Hoping for good conditions and a new personal best preferably in the sub 10 category or close. Matthew Boling passed up running his first outdoor 200 meter of the year which is on friday night. I'm glad he chose to open up with the 100 first! I might be expecting too much but this kid has the talent and the ability to shock the world! :)

Boling was in the 4 x 100 Relay today but the team DNS. Not sure what happened? He also competed in the mens long jump and won it with a leap of 8.02 meters which is 26 feet 3 inches. Hope his legs are still fresh and ready as
tommorow is when he has his first 100 meters race of the season. I really wish he would give up the long jump. I know he loves the event but it's too hard physically on the body especially when his best events are the 100 & 200 meters.
Either way we shall see how he does tommorow. I really hope he throws down a world class eye popping time to announce to the world that he has arrived as a future olympian! :)

They say a win is a win and he won easily but it's the slowest time Boling has run in many years.

Matthew Boling won the 100 meters today in Georgia in his home opener in a time of 10.32 -0.9 wind. Yes it's more of a high school time. The wind did slow him down but he has alot of work to do as he is miles
away from the form he will need to be competetive at the US Nationals. To be honest I will put alot of the blame on his lack of running 100 meters races. Even with the 60 meters I think he only ran twice this
season indoors. He runs the 400 meters, 4 x 400 Relays, long jumps, 4 x 100 relays, the 100 & 200 meters. He has to focus on the 100 & 200 meters if he wants to become an elite level olympic sprinter. He proved
he has the ability indoors over 200 meters but he has to be able to do this on a consistant basis. I have no doubt he has the talent and desire to achieve this goal but he needs to give up some of the events he is running
in despite what his coach tells him. They are running the kid to death with over training for too many types of events. This isn't high school anymore. I know I'm being hard on him as it's only one race but my worst fear
is that he will not get the proper coaching to succeed like what happened to Christophe Lemaitre. The kid never got better and only got worse yet never changed his coaching staff or training methods.

I'm the biggest Boling Fan around. I just want him to have a chance to be one of the best of all time. My advice is for him to give up the 400 meters, the long jump and the 4 x 400 relays. Stick with the 100, 200 meters
and the 4 x 100 relays. This will get his body ready for the type of times he will need to get to the next level.

Jenna Prandini won the 200m against a packed field (including Elaine Thompson), in Florida today.
Her time was 22.29 (2.3w).
She has a good chance to make the Olympic team.

it was windy and rainy, hard to tell where he is at. Looks like one slipped or maybe pulled a hamstring because of the crummy weather.

Well Zach Jewel didn't have any help either with the weather. He finished 2nd in his heat in a time of 10.43 -0.1 which was the 3rd fastest time of the meet for the mens 100 meters.

in addition to the crappy weather, the expectations and build up behind this race due to Boling’s name recognition/fame was likely a pretty big deal. much like with what happened with his DQ in the indoor 200m, this was the chance to knock off some of that (while he still got the win here unlike indoors) before moving forward to much bigger results this summer. i say this because he didn’t look nearly as smooth in this race as is typical for him, but rather he looked more like when he was pressing too much in the second half of those indoor 200s.

where did Jewel run, white lightning? i’m just happy his hamstring injury from earlier this year is healed sufficiently to allow him to compete already.

Boling needs alot of help with cleaning up his form. Compare his style to Laird. It's not even close as Laird looks far more relaxed and it looks almost effortless even though he is working just as hard. Boling has the elite talent that only 99% of the planet
can only dream of. The key will be to smooth everything out and stay as relaxed as possible. I will give an example of the great Valeriy Borzov of Russia who won the 100 and 200 meters gold medals at the 1972 Olympics. When practicing for the 100 and 200
meters, his coach would have both Borzov and his teammates run holding a piece of paper in their mouth. You had to practice over and over and learn to sprint all out without dropping if from your mouth. This also helped to breath through your nose more and stay relaxed. As weird as it sounds it was one thing that helped them to relax. You don't want alot of head movement or uunecessary body movement. It is wasted motion and it slows you down. Look at how relaxed Rohan Browning looked running his 10.05 recently. It's the guys who that are the smoothest that maintain their speed the longest which leads to wins and faster times. Matthew Boling has so much to work on but he honestly needs to focus more on the shorter sprints and tightening up is form and staying relaxed. The talent is off the charts. Clean it up and smooth it out and prepare to be shocked by the times he will run!

Excellent world class perfomance by Jenna Prandini. We could possibly see a US Olympic Team with the most white male & female sprinters in around 40 to 50 years. I don't want to jinx anything.
Jenna Prandini led the majority of the race yet she stay relaxed and focused. Alot of male & female sprinters could learn from her. Hope this is the start of an epic summer for her! :)

Austin Kratz won a 100m race today in Arizona - 10.62.
Not really a notable time, but it is notable that he is finally racing again.
Two years ago he was one of the fastest high school sprinters in the country (10.33).
But because of injuries and the pandemic, he has been missing in action for the past 2 years.
Glad to see he is back, and hope he can live up to his potential and expectations.

Austin Kratz ran a 10.47 today in Arizona.
Again, not a notable time, but notable that he already made a big improvement from his 10.62 last weekend.
He's coming back and I am hoping we are going to see a very fast Austin Kratz by the end of the season.

Awesome to hear Kratz is slowly improving. Hopefully if not this year but in the next couple of years he can be a guy to watch closer. I think the long layoff takes alot of time to get back into proper form.

With only two days till the 2021 Australian Track & Field Championships, I wanted to post an article about Hana Basic. She is the favorite to win the womens 100 meters and I'm hoping she can get the 11.15 Olympic
Standard for Australia. It would be great to have Rohan Browning representing the men in the 100 meters and with Hana Basic hopefully doing the same for the women in the individual 100 meters!

I'm so pleased she didn't totally desert track and field after world junior's 7 years ago. Came back under her own steam when she realised she wanted it and is mature enough now to cope.

for you track sleuths, any word on where and when Jackson Webb is running next? he’s shattering PBs left and right this year, and i’m interested in seeing him run with a legal wind after his 10.03w.

No word anywhere that I can see yet but this multi sport athlete is amazing. He is a wide receiver on the Oklahoma Football Team, It's been a few weeks since his last race so my hypothesis would be next weekend. Here are his seasons results so far! :)

Jackson ran in a meet yesterday. He won the 200m. His time was something like 20.83. He also ran the relay, but not the 100m.

... but this multi sport athlete is amazing. He is a wide receiver on the Oklahoma Football Team ...

correction. he is a “wide receiver” on the football team, having played zero snaps at wideout in his football “career” thus far. unfortunately, his only in-game action has been on limited special team’s appearances. i’ve done some digging with some OU super fans, and they tell me he can’t catch and his change of direction ability is poor. this would explain why an elite sprinter doesn’t get much action, but (with the track record *pun* of the OU football coach and White skill position players) there could also may be more to the story from a Caste perspective.
