thank you, sir.

for me, it’s especially nice to see those fast times in the 400m, as it’s my favorite race.

Aussie Liz Clay maybe doesn't hurdle well enough yet to final in Tokyo ...... but slack body preparation is not her problem

Although she book-ended her season yesterday with a legal 12.72 100 hurdles - that's a potential finals time to reinforce her 12.71 earlier in the season

hey guys - look what I was notified of today. A sighting of the abducted one!
Not bad with a -1.4 and no competition. Proves he's in decent shape
Men 100 Metre Open Name Team Finals Finals 1 Browning, Rohan 10.20 -1.4 2 Mwea, Lataisi 11.38 -1.4 3 O'Hanlon, Evan 11.47 -1.4 4 McLellan, Luke 11.48 -1.4

Nice for him to go up to the nice, warm sunshine 3,000 kms north.. Sydney has been around 60F and raining for the past 2 weeks. Let's trust in his coach's ability to peak him on time. I think he can approach 10 flat with good weather and and nice tailwind but of course there's no guaranteeing either. Wouldn't sneaking his way into a semi be nice?

(those other 3 guys were running 11.40e themselves. Shows the daylight between average fast guys and an Olympian)

Probably his lack of sightings has a lot to do with the insane Australian response to the scamdemic. He sure has potential.....but don't wanna get too invested after being let down by previous "future superstars" like Shirvo and LeMaitre.

Browning and Boling I'd say are the two main longer term prospects for 100m success (no offence to 200/400, but 100m is the glamour race: the most watched event at the entire Olympics). Tortu is never going to get into the elite. Within a year or two it will be clear whether Browning or Boling have what it takes. (Gotta say my confidence in Boling has taken a bit hit this last 6 months).

Linden Hall a new PB for 1500m today at 4.00.00 - so just how close can you get to a sub 4? She PB'd with 3.59.67 3 months ago. Maybe a lot of Aussies are learning to peak again when it matters.

Hana Basic clocked yet another legal 11.16 today and an 11.30 back up just an hour later - getting ready to run rounds

MM, Basic's times will not get her out of the qualifying round but it is good to see her going in the right direction. Liz Clays times are getting better.

I had an exgf whom had the same physique as Clay's, she was a mid distance runner and was so into looking ripped but feminine. Although it was as you can imagine, her need to show it off constantly was a massive downer...needless to say I dumped her.

A thought on Schippers: why does she run so exceptionally fast in the 4x100m but is slowing down in the actual 100m race as well as the 200m? She shows no sign of injury/niggles in the 4x100m 2nd leg but looks slow in individual races. Could it be mental and not physical?

In the world under 20's it was an eye opener to see so many black faces dominating GB, German, Belgian, Swiss, Irish and Welsh teams, Israel even had a black guy in the 100m, it looks like most of GB's blacks are mixed race or of Nigerian decent. Gotta say Polish women are stunning and exceptionally talented...maybe Athletics Canada can watch this and learn...homegrown gals can compete on the international stage.

Hey, Devin Quinn is running the 100 today at the American Track League - Trabuco. There are 2 heats at 1:05 PST. Hopefully he will be relaxed and do what he is capable of.

For me, I don't care about titles and medals, I want to see some fast times. Like with Browning, I'd like to see him prioritize blasting a sub 10, and not "save himself for the finals."

Thanks for the update. I can't find the results anywhere. Can you post a link to the results please? Thank you sir.

An interesting result from the Euro U20 Championships was the women's 400m Hurdles.
The first 4 places went to Scandanavian women:

1/ Andrea Rooth, Norway 57.16
2/ Moa Granat, Sweden 57.94
3/ Martha Rasmussen, Denmark 58.30
4/ Hanna Karlssen, Sweden 59.02

And in the men's 400m hurdles, Oskar Edlund of Sweden took 2nd.

I have to believe that the success Karsten Warholm of Norway, has been a motivator for all these teenagers.
How else would you explain this burst of success by Scandinavians in this event?!

Meanwhile, another Scandinavian Maja Askag of Sweden won both the women's Long Jump and Triple Jump. Very impressive.
Gabriel Wallmark, also of Sweden, won the men's Triple Jump.

it would seem so. Hence the need for well-performing national heroes.
Quinn's 10. 14 (+2.3) not bad for end of season

can we draw a correlation between fast Polish girls and Canadian girls though. A lot is to do with the culture - and the Polish have had to be mentally tough to get through hardship over centuries.
Have Canadian (or Australian) girls ever had to face their trials? I think the only outstanding athletes we see in our countries are the gritty types with the personality to seek goals.

Hana Basic may move to round 2 but that'd be about it. I'll be over the moon if she can run well enough to take down the 11.11 Australian record - because I don't consider Melissa Breen a worthy title holder. Turned to jelly racing fast girls internationally

MM, the trials white Canadian female track athletes face is being "told" constantly they cannot compete in sprints, just like the guys are told. They are moved to the 800 or longer races. Having coached for more than a few years I have seen it first hand far more times than I can list. The brainwashing starts early in Canada.... yes those that do succeed(few) are the gritty kiss my arse types.

If Hanna Basic can take down the Aussie record that would be great, I also think Browning should go for it (sub 10)in the heats as well as his very best will get him to the semis. I would love to see Femke Bol win the silver medal, go sub 52 but I do not think she can beat Mcgloughlin but I definitely think she can beat Muhammad.

Ramil Guliyev didn't look good at all with his 20.78 in Paris, 6/10ths behind the first 2 placegetters.
He needs some yams, toute de suite

Guliyev has stepped things up finally.
I see that he ran 10.12 (2.1w) and 20.58 (1.9w) this weekend.
Not good enough to make the Olympic final, but still good times.

That's great to see for "Rocket" Ramil Guliyev. The Greatest White Sprinter that I have ever personally had the pleasure of watching with Lemaitre being a close second. I would love to see Guliyev
have us all take a trip down memory lane one last time. It's probably not gonna happen but I will be rooting for him as hard as I always have! Thanks for the updates jacknyc.

I think you're right re" Bol not beating McLaughlan ... but having seen her in action and having heard her talk a few times I quite like McLaughlin. No silly talk and grandstanding!

That 100 V 200 time indicates he's yet to negative split so maybe he's had delayed training period affecting his speed endurance. I hope he can come in with the 20.30s so he has a chance to run again. He's got a few weeks yet

Two recent mens results in the 100 meters.

21 year old Russian Sprinter Vladislav Doronin ran a 10.23 wind legal. Nice time for the young sprinter.

25 year old English Sprinter Tommy Ramdhan ran a 10.24 also wind legal.
