Excellent article and I can see the logic with the lockdowns and worldwide covid restrictions and precautions. For most sprinters this might really
hurt their confidence because practice is different from the pressure of race day. With Rohan I think he is smart enough to not get too nervous. He
has been around several years now. His confidence, swagger and ability to relax will help him. He will make the semi finals in my opinion. To make
an Olympic 100 Meters Final will take the best race of his life. He is capable. Hoping the move by Coach Murphy pays off! :)

Browning throwing down a sub 10 PB salvages this season for me. I came in with high hopes for Quinn, Boling and Tortu.

Would love the see the Japanese 4 x 100 team upset some people.

that is a well thought out article. A good conclusion too - personal bests done in an Olympic Games or World Championship are an excellent result.

That 2016 OG 200 metres where Ella Nelson (22.50) missed the final by 1/100th was her best ever race. She got past Prandini in the last part of the race.
She moved to the States to train and came away broken I think - ran WC in London a year later for a miserable 24.02 - gave track up in 2018.

I remember Ella Nelson, had so much potential. Speaking of Prandini, I am hoping that she goes sub 22 at the games. She as a “clean sprinter” has a shot at the finals.

Yes most of those guys have not done what we thought they would do but it's not over yet. Also remember Matthew Boling was crowned the
2021 Indoor NCAA Champion over 200 meters! He will improve. Tortu & Quinn will bounce back either this year or next along with Boling.

Rohan Browning going sub 10 would be epic! We all know he has the talent to do it! Just a matter of putting the right race together with good
conditions and a very fast olympic track. I think we will see him either do it or get super close with a 10.01 or so. Hope he goes sub 10.

The Japaneese Sprinters are always amazing in the Relay. I expect them and China to be in the mix to make the finals of the mens 4 x 100 meters finals.

Hmm ....browning realistic expectations ..pending draws has to be a semi final ...and a new pb ...,towards 10 flat ....but he should compete in Europe post olympics ......it will be interesting to see where guliyev will be at after the first round .....and where schippers will be after the first round ..both over 200 meters ..........Warholm has to medal if not win ...and Mayer the decathlete has to medal if not win ......and I will say it again ..shubenkov will medal if not win .....halloway has had an easy path so far , can he deal with the pressure and sub 13 international talent .....hocker is the joker of the 1500 , he runs with such abandon and will cause a few upsets. Calvin Murphy will medal , still totally underrated and that’s because of his colour .....shot put and hammer and discus stacked ....don’t mention the javelin .....also I reckon the young Greek will throw up a surprise in the long jump. It’s all about consistency and at least 8.30 meters .. ....and the men’s triple jump is wide open ...,the high jump should be interesting ......both male and female .....and the women’s multi events ...quite a lot of white talent in the athletic events ......and the relays will be fun ....and I don’t mean the japs or chinks ( definitely on the sauce ) .....

Quinn ...having a solid season ..he will have learned re: prep for trials .....and don’t rule out tortu ...I have a suspicion he will peak at the olympics ..,and the Italian relay squad should be very competitive ......

And boling is just beginning .....he had a great season ....once he gets his first 30 meters down ...and runs 6.5s in the 60 ...beware ..

Basic over-awed and nowhere (11.32, -0.2) . She tightened up considerably as the Jamaican started to run away. I wish our athletes ran with faster people to learn to handle the pressure.

Yes they will be a huge factor in the relay if they can take care of the baton. Amazing times for the opening heats. This is a very fast track! It was also great
to see German Alexandara Burghardt run an 11.08 to win her heat and advance along with the Italian Anna Bongiorni.

Basic did the best she could. On her Aus Olympic team profile it says she was running 100m under 12 seconds when she was 14 years old.

I have to admit that I'm shocked that Jenna Prandini is running the 100 meters. Glad she made it out of the first round as she ran a 11.11 into a
negative wind. I just don't see the point as for her to medal in the 200 will take her being the best she has ever been. I think running the 100 rounds
could end up hurting her in the long run. Hope I'm wrong. If she can qualify for the womens 100 meters finals then the gamble will be worth it but that's
a big if as she will probably have to go 11.00 or under to make it.

Wrong prandini should have focused on the 200 ....unless she wants to blow off some cobwebs in the 100....the rounds will affect her 200 performance ..,,

Yeah, looks like Ta Lou's cycle is kicking in a little better than the Jamaicans. Which is good in a weird way, don't want to see that arrogant SFP win again. Hope Del Ponte can PB again.

Let's look at the ages of the top qualifiers in order:

1/Ta Lou, age 32
2/Thompson, age 29
3/Fraser-Price, age 34
4/Del Ponte, age 25
5/ Kambundji, age 29
6/Neita, age 24
7/Nwokocha, age 20
8/Daniels, age 24
9/Ogakbare, age 32

So 2 of the 3 top qualifiers are well clear of 30 yrs old. Thompson is almost 30, and Ogakbare is 32.
I have hard time believing any of these athletes are clean.

I'm so glad he got caught as I just knew from the eye test.

Well, I feel somewhat vindicated. Ogakbare (32) has been suspended.
