Anna Ryzhykova is number 22 all time and the 22nd woman to break 53.00 s in the 400h.
She is another athlete from my hometown of Dnipro. I remember her as Anna Yaroshchuk. She is 31 years old and married now. Being solidly 5th best is a tough place but she has a shot at bronze in the Olympics.
Tsentral’nyi district has World Record holder Inessa Kravets in the Triple Jump(15.50m) retired plus current World number one in the High Jump Yaroslava Manuchikh as well as Anna Ryzhykova.

Male athletes have so many minor pro leagues in Soccer/Basketball/Volleyball/Handball to chose from in Western Europe where they can earn around 50k to 100k for five months work with all expenses paid. They have no reason to try to become the best in Athletics and make no money. PPP is 4.2 in Dnipro compared to LA/NYC so a young decent athlete has net money going as far as 220k to 400k in those cesspools plus lives in a homogeneous environment with far more beautiful Women than any American big city.
Sadly Male Athletics is dying out while Female Athletics is still going strong.

I agree with both women. For the men I will say Larsson, Illukka and Yannick Wolf of Germany all have a chance to medal and maybe obtain
new personal best times as well.

must be the first time I've seen a multi day international meeting have only 3 heats for the men's 100 - then straight to the final. Lots of potentials must be saving their running for Tokyo

I noticed that as well. Strange.
I think it's just an off year for many European athletes. Europe was hit hard with virus shutdowns, and it seems every European sprinter is having an off year, whether they are U23 or competing as seniors. There are some other bright spots, but the European sprinters are way off this year.
In fact, the only sprinter who went sub 10.10 is Rowan Browning, and apparently he's been abducted by aliens because nobody's seen him since April.

It will be interesting to see if Tortu improves from last outing. I am also excited to see how Aussie McSweyn does in the 1500, love his ferocious approach!

Very sad that Japan will not allow any fans at the Olympics. Saddest Olympics ever and sponsors are cancelling their ads left and right. It will probably be one of the least viewed Olympics in history of Modern TV.
I feel so bad for all of the great athletes that spent their whole lives trying to get to this event and the ones that make it will be in front of an empty stadium. What a joke!

Unfortunately, Illukka of Finland did not start in the Men's 100m Final. He had looked very good in the semis.
Larsson took the silver, and Arnau Monne of Spain took 3rd by an eyelash over his teammate Sergio Lopez and Yannick Wolf of Germany.

In the women's race, Lily Kaden of Germany took the gold, and Rani Rosius of Belgium got the silver medal.

And Laura Muir isn't even running it at the Olympics! She ditched the double to focus on the 1500.

Filippo Tortu finished with a new seasons best of 10.17 today in Monaco despite a horrible lane draw. Not a great time but also not a horrible time either. He has run in that range 2 of his last 3 races so there is still a slight
chance he can get his conditioning a little better within the next 3 weeks for the Olympic Games. The field was stacked and overall considering everything that has happened this season I think that
he performed very well. Jacobs is the talk of Italy with his 2nd sub 10 this year and he finished in 3rd today. There is no pressure on Tortu as he is not expected to even make the final. That's a good spot
to be in for this fine young sprinter. No pressure. No worries. Just go out and shock some people like he did at the World Championships.

What an epic long jump battle among the men today in Monaco!

Miltias Tentaglou had a jump of 8.24 meters and Tobias Montler leaped to a new personal best of 8.27 meters! They both finished in the top 3 and look
well poised to contend for the gold medal in Tokyo at the Summer Olympic Games!

You could clearly see Henrik Larsson holding his right calf like he has a cramp or some type of minor injury. Our men and women
took 2 of the top 3 spots in the mens and womens 100 meters. It's been a sub par year for most of our athletes so I will take it.

I'm even more excited about the 2021 European Under 20 Championships coming up next weekend!

Yes Mastermulti. I agree that it was very exciting. These times are eye popping to say the least. All 4 of these guys will be in the hunt for
the Olympic Medal Stand in Tokyo. I always have enjoyed watching the 1500 meters. Alot of strategy goes on in many races when to make
a move, hold back, etc. Where as some guys just go balls to the wall the whole way and try to hold on for dear life down the home stretch!

Regarding the mens 100 meters in Monaco today at the Diamond League Race. People need to know that Tortu racing out of lane 1 is in a very bad spot to be. How
many sprinters win races let alone medal out of the far inside or outside lane? I can't think of any and if there are it's very rare. Not just in championships but in any
sprint race. You just don't have enough time to do much over 100 meters without a great start. The majority of the time the guys that win are the guys that are favored
and that have the good lane draws of lanes 3, 4, 5 and 6. This is just stating the facts. So a 10.17 today win no wind out lane 1 for Tortu is a good time. I think he will at
least pull off a sub 10.10 in Tokyo barring a horrible start or injury. Just my opinion.

Again we still await a Rohan Browning Siting. Like jacknyc said, maybe the Aliens upducted him. Haha.

Even if Tortu runs sub 10.10 he will most likely not make it out of the heats even 10 flat won’t make it out of the semis. Still I really enjoy his running style and he still has so much “upside”. Simbini should have been dq’d as well as Vicaut. In the women’s 200m I am glad Juicer Fraser-Pryce got beat by Talou. The announcers commented on how at 34 sfp is running “better” than anyone thought lol
