Brandon Miller wins the boys 200m in 20.49 w2.1 I almost pissed myself listening to the announcers on this video. talk about colour blind

Brandon Miller was flying out there. 20.49 for a high schooler is fantastic. I remember Jeremy Wariner ran in the 20.40's in his senior year in the 200 meters. I guess tonight is Miller Time Sprintstar! :)

Great find! This kid is from a tiny high school in rural Michigan and his time is out of nowhere. I spent the last 20 minutes scouring for mentions of him. He looks to be running track in college next year for Grand Valley State University, a small local school in D2. I'd go out on a limb and guess this is their first 'national champion' recruit ever. Miller ran a 21.36 and finished 2nd at his high school states meet about a month ago.

I can't speak to the difference in track coaching between the big vs. small collegiate programs, other than the facilities and amenities are worlds apart. As a scholarship athlete, he signed a letter of intent when he committed back in November of 2020. The NCAA now lets kids transfer without penalty at the end of each year. I wonder if he'll be getting any calls from bigger programs for next season, and if Miller thinks it's worth it vs telling them to shove it. Fun storyline to keep an eye on.

He also apparently played RB/safety in football, but had absolutely zero recruiting buzz as a prospect - not a huge surprise as a rural white athlete. The 247 website doesn't even have an entry for him.

not sure what you wanted to hear mate. They have a bit of a script with notes on the favourites (at least I've heard that) and Miller was an outsider. They certainly seemed to like his performance though once they looked up when "normal time" was resumed

When I said "I almost pissed myself" I meant with laughter as the announcers didnt see him until the finish line..lol it was funny as they were so focused on the other two guys.

Maybe it's better that Brandon Miller goes to a little place. Those big time schools seem to grind up white sprint prospects.

Bol is 21

Femke Bol will break the world record eventually. I have no doubt in my mind. She just needs more time as her body is still maturing. What an incredible talent this young lady is! Phenom just like Warholm. Can you just
imagine if the two of them dated and go married. Both at the very top of the bell curve in elite talent that almost no one can match! She will be fun to watch at the Olymics. I predict a silver or bronze medal is she can handle
the rounds at such a young age. I wouldn't bet against her.

On another note. The 2021 European Under 23 Championships are next weekend! It should be some must see tv. Henrik Larrson can take his frustration out from todays race and hopefully p.b. there. There are so many rising
male and female sprinters to watch there. Also in the events from the 400 meters up to the 10000 meters as well as the field events.

yes, Bol dropped a full one second improvement over the time she set last week or so. Little really pushed her and she responded, didn't cave in - that says so much about her focus and mental strength.

Meanwhile, Australia's first lady over 2 metres in the high jump (2.01) was pleasing for me having watched our best get to mid-high 1.90s for 25 years

Schippers is entered in the 200m at the Gyulai Istvan Memorial in Hungary for the 6th, heavily stacked field. This will show where she is truly at in regards to her fitness...

That was great. 400m hurdles is going to be one to watch at Olympics for both men and women. Femke is the same age as Sydney McLaughlin so they could have a great rivalry for some years. Sydney is halfcaste but from what I saw of her in the documentary about her at high school she takes after her white mother: she seemed very sweet, pleasant and polite, not at all ghetto.

don’t forget, but another White lady in this race did something extraordinary: Ukraine’s Anna Ryzhikova also dipped under the 53 seconds barrier with 52.96, which is fleet-footed enough to move into sixth in the world all-time list. what a terrific race this was!

it moves her to virtually top 20 all-time. Still, a great performance. Anything under 53 for 400H is staggering

Adam Gemeli looked better today running at the 2021 Guylai Istvan Memorial. He ran times of 10.14 in the 100 meters and 20.41 in the 200 meters. He is moving in the right direction The question is will there be enough time
for him to hit his peak condition by the start off the Olympics in less than a month? Hoping so as Gemeli has run both sub 10's and sub 20's in the past and is a fantastic sprinter at his best!

Dafne Schippers ran a 22.70 to finish 3rd in her race. Another improvement but she is not where the shape she will need even to make the finals at the Olympics. Maybe she can still shock us but I doubt it at this point.

Ajla Del Ponte was also sub par running a time of 11.22 for 6th place in the womens 100 meters. She did run 11.07 wind legal this summer though so hopefully it's just a few small things to work on.

Sergey Shubenkov ran a time of 13.19 in the mens 100 meter hurdles so he is rounding into shape at the right time. He should make the finals at the olympics and hopefully compete for a medal.

Super Woman Femke Bol continues her undefeated season running a time of 52.81 to win the womens 400 meters hurdles!

One last sad note. Ramil Guliyev finished towards the back of the pack running a very dismal 20.90 in the mens 200 meters. :(

i was going to post this in the High Schoolers thread, but technically she is no longer in high school ...

Katelyn Fairchild, a record-setting javelin thrower who just graduated from Andale High in Kansas is in the finals of the US Olympic trials in the javelin. what an AMAZING accomplishment!
