below is a video of the PAC-12 200m championship from a few days ago. Austin Kratz is given a lot of credit in the video (he ends up taking third), but you can see a clear difference between his body and the eventual winner’s. it appears that Kratz, while clearly a terrific athlete, hasn’t put in the necessary work (weights, nutrition, etc.) to get the maximum performance out of his considerable in-born talents.
as an aside, Harrison Schrage (the scratch from lane 6) of UCLA via transfer from the University of Arkansas has had a solid career, though he’s not an world-class elite talent.

please pardon the double post, but i wanted to remind folks that what Boling is doing in the SEC should be recognized for what it is: simply outstanding! as things currently stand, SEC meets (especially in the sprints) are faster than most professional meets outside the US. for instance, if memory serves Boling had the fastest indoor 200m in the world this year with Laird having the fastest outdoor 200m. perhaps i’m off on that recollection, but even if so you still get the general idea.
additionally, there are several talented young American-born sprinters, both male and female, for us to cheer for, unlike any time i can remember. it’s not like the days of just Kevin Little and then just Jeremy Wariner. things are looking up!

What are your guys opinion on Gaston Bouchereau? Do you think he is world class talent

if he were competing for most countries besides the US, he’d be running for championships. he ran a 6.64 60m indoors back in January, and he’s shaved massive amounts off his pb in the 100m this year, as well. he ran a 10.33 to take third in the PAC-12 championships (BARELY nosing out Austin Kratz’ 10.34) a couple days ago. his 200m, whilst also still improving, is well off world class level at this time (21.40 in the aforementioned PAC-12 championships).
in my opinion, he’s still showing massive improvements year over year, but the deck is stacked against him due to the fact he’s running in the third-most populous country on the planet ... which also seems to turn a blind eye to the rampant PED use by many of its “best” sprinters. in order to continue running as a pro, he’ll likely have to foot his own expenses (unless he has a MAJOR breakthrough) or change his citizenship.

Burnett and Kratz seemed to know each other and have easy comraderie as they talked together later. I wonder if they've raced against each other over the years

I found myself wondering over why he is only now approaching his PB's from 3 years ago. This explains it.
And refreshing to see black coaches believing in him. They may be less "caste" than white coaches - I guess white coaches feel they need to toe a PC line and that binds them.
Reading of his hardships will now etch him into my consciousness for the future

MM, in watching the 200m race of Eckhardt Potgeiter, I was just thinking he runs with a similar style to Tortu which is a good thing. I will keep an eye out for this kid in the future. Thanks for the heads up on this future star.

as mastermulti said, it certainly explains why Kratz has struggled. it’s also VERY positive to learn that he has the support of a coaching staff that is also willing to come up with a plan personalized to his needs. here’s to hoping he returns to form and surpasses his past performance in the coming years!

the young British 800m runners keep coming! this time, it’s 19-year old Keely Hodgkinson who breaks the British (and European?) u20 record, running a dazzling 1:58.89. obviously, that sets a new personal best, but i think it also shows that her indoor performance was not a fluke.

I'm glad to see that Amy and Keely are good friends. Hopefully their successes will inspire each other.

I've been waiting for Amy to followup on her 200m successes from 2019 - U18 world record and Euro U20 gold medal.
I'm hoping she picks-up where she left off, and becomes the next Dafne Schippers.

Does anyone know when Devin Quinn is running again? I was hoping he would be at the Addidas Games in Boston. I'm guessing he couldn't get an invite?
I did see in the Womens 100 meters we have Hannah Cunliffe, Dafne Schippers and Gina Luekemper all on the starting list!

Emilie Erasmus has only raced once all year and that was on March 27th in Pretoria, South Africa. He ran a 10.38 -3.0 wind. That would be easily an time
in the 10.20s wih better conditions. Emilie Erasmus turned 29 in April so his time is running out. It's really sad he wasn't in a better country to compete somewhere
in Europe as his personal best times are 10.01 +0.2 and 20.48 -.0.7 which are both amazing and he did it with no help from the wind! South Africa as a country is in
a very bad place financially and it's just sad how anti white it has become. Whites are murdered there all the time just for being white. Such a shame for the great people
that live there and even more so for a guy with world class talent. I hope Emilie, his dad and the rest of his family is doing ok.
Have to say great infos guys ...very positive feeling about some really talented young athletes...great to see kratz competeing at college level ...he has a massive upside ...strengh alone will bring him along way ..he is as lean as a streaky piece of low fat bacon ... all that leg turnover and fast twitch goin on ... i have a suspicion the south african will be pinced by rugby soon ....unless he ends up at tuks ... very talented kid ... and no boucheroux isnt any where near world class or would represent many outside the states over 100/ 200 ..do your research . He is at best a good college athlete ......no disrespect intended......and from what i know devin quinn ..your right got no invites ...so lets see what happens ....guliyev and tortu coming along nicely ...and kilty should make a relay squad .........interestingly i feel kratz ..after filling out by 6/ 7 kilos would make an interesting 60 meter guy... very quick reactions and drive ...hhhmmmm......and the glasses ....and yellow lycra ...all built for speed ...

as far as Keely Hodgkinson goes her 1.58.89 is a really good time for her age and she has so much more upside. But even with that time she might make the semis at the olympics but the Kenyan men oops I mean women run alot faster. In the next olympic year she will be a force to reckon with. Hunt not so sure of yet, blistered as a 17 y old and has had some good times since then. Of all the female sprinters out there she has there most natural talent she just needs to lay it down on the track at the right time. The future looks bright for these 2 gifted athletes.
