Joe Burrow's performance yesterday resulted in the 4th highest total passing yards in NFL history - 525 yards. The Bengals are an ascending team with him under center. Josh Allen took over the game against the Pats and had the third most impressive performance of the day behind Burrow and Burkhead.
Davis Mills has been a real surprise. I honestly did not have many expectations for him - the Texans are a lowly franchise, Mills did not have a standout college career either but he is obviously improving as the season progresses. To play that well with limited snaps/experience in college and on a team without much talent speaks to Mills ability. The Texans now have as many wins as they did last year when Watson was their starting QB. The Texans GM is Nick Caserio who up until last year was with the Patriots since 2002 including a 12 year stint from 2008 to 2020 as the director of player personnel. Time and again Patriots coaches/GMs have been disappointments once they leave New England (outside of Mangini) - Scott Pioli, Josh McDaniels, Bill O'Brien, Fatt Matt Patricia all turned directly into Caste system disciples. Caserio has brought in former Patriot player Amendola and Burkhead. I've been burned one too many times to put any faith in any GM or head coach to become fair to White athletes but Caserio was with the Pats during the Welker, Amendola, Woodhead, Edelman, Burkhead, Hogan, Snowplow era. If he can fleece another team and get several draft picks for Watson he may be able to get the Texans back to the team more closely resembling the Kubiak era.
