Some good times in Osaka.
Kiryu close to sub 10 again, and almost beat Gaitlin. Zohri of Indonesia (World Jr Champ) 3rd in 10.03. Wind 1.7.
You can see the race below, plus Japan's winning the 4x100m relay easily over the US.

By the way ..Greg Rutherford was a hell of an athlete..talent is a prerequisite for any power sport ...u can work on it but if it's not there it's not there .......leave guts and work ethic for the endurance people ....if Rutherford was an an American he would have been a household name ..,,and at 6 ,2 he weighed constantly a minimum of 200 lbs ....and Rutherford had sprinter abilities , running rarely he still put down 10. 20 for 100 and 6.66 for a 60 meters while never working on blocks .....gimme a break with the guts and work ethic rubbish ....,u can't turn a donkey into a race horse .....u can make him faster ...but he still ain't a racehorse .....

I would think he could race the NFL "star"(Ginn really is one trick pony), but he couldn't accept the prize money or the prize money would have to be donated to charity. Occasionally an amateur golfer has a decent finish on a tour event and can't accept a cheque for making the cut. I also recall Tito Ortiz fighting as an amateur wrestler in an early UFC event and the announcers stating he couldn't keep his prize money or he would lose his amateur status. Word was Ortiz "kept" his amateur status but took a bag of cash for his fight with Guy Metzger.

As for the race it would be a white wash , Boling would destroy Ginn in every event less maybe a 40 yard dash. Ginn is too old and was never even as good as Boling is now, also he is probably carrying an extra 20 pounds of muscle over his prime sprinting weight.

I was thinking about who would pay Ginn if by some chance he loses. The NCAA has more rules than the federal government. They could say it was a gambling debt. I just don't want the kid to mess up with the future he has.

Two young british sprinters to keep an eye on are Dom Ashwell and Oliver Bromby.

Dom Ashwell is only 19 and already has a wind legal p.b. from last summer of 10.25! I fully expect him to make huge strides this year and get down close to the the 10.10 range by the end of the summer.

Oliver Bromby is 21 and has a wind legal p.b. of 10.31 from last summer and he is showing good early form in his first race of the year.

Both of this guys have alot of talent and the work ethic/desire to potentially succeed at the highest level. We will watch them closely! Good luck to both of these talented young sprinters.

These runners were excluded from the Olympics in 1896', in England this was a big spectacle that had thousands turn out to these contests. Professional boxing has these roots too, and Irish Travelers still do this in illegal matches.

Some sad news about Trae Williams of Australia. A young stud sprinter with a wind legal p.b. of 10.10 is quiting athletics to play rugby professionally. Yes the money is great but I was really hoping
he would have stayed on with running the sprints. He will be missed very much as he is an incredible talent. I wish him well though and thanks for the memories while short they were sweet.

I am not sure how much money Aussie rugby players make but it is probably more than as a track athlete if Aussie government is as cheap as Canadas government is when it comes to supporting track and field athletes. Wish him well.

It seems Bolings coach has his head on straight, which is good to see. The article is good but 2 real left handed compliments leaves a bit of a sour taste in ones mouth. Heres hoping for a goods series of summer track meets for Matthew including going injury free.

Still sad about Trae leaving but it's a financial decision I'm sure with more of a safe longtime career choice financially.

As for Rohan Browning, the article said that he has told Australia he wants to continue his track career until at least 2020. Great news! The kid can go sub 10. I am sure of it. He is very smart
and has the right mind set to be successful at the highest level in my opinon. With Trae gone, it's up the Browning and Hale to carry the torch now. Also Jake Doran has massive upside
potential so let's look for a few more and Australia will be just fine.

In the 2019 NCAA West Regional we have good news on the first day. Both Hari and Quinn won their heats in the mens 100 meters to advance to the next round. Kristoffer Hari won his heat in a time
of 10.30 and Devin Quinn won his race in a very fast 10.22! So happy to see both of these young sprinters advance. The talent out west is tough but hoping for the best as both of these guys are currently in good form. Especially Devin Quinn who's nickname on his twitter and on the team is "White Lightning". You got to love that! Good luck to these guys!

Yes sir that is moving and his p.b. in the 200 is a 20.35 which shows good speed endurance. He is progressing very naturally year by year. Hope he can get through the quarter and semi finals. Just to make the finals would be good. To medal would be amazing with the level of competition he is competing against. This is also great experience for Hari who still has a few years of college left.

So glad to see Hari and Quinn advance again. Great times that they are running.

As for Filippo Tortu, he is going to be a sub 9.90 sprinter in the next couple of years when at his peak. He is just that good! Phenom and possibly
olympic & world champion someday in around the 2024 olympics if he continues to improve!

Tortu looks like he is from the same family tree as my family. Ha.

I agree with White Lightening. He has a ton of talent and his potential is terrific. Arguably the most exciting white sprinter to come along since Lemaitre, I too expect big things from Tortu going forward. And I think he has an even greater upside than Lemaitre. His running style is sublime.

Time will tell but someone to watch closely. I am sure WL and others here will be all over his progress this summer.

Thanks to the T and F crowd here for keeping us informed. I never see it on TV because I don't get the Olympic Channel--it is on a high pay second tier on my cable--but I do look forward to the World Championships which starts September 28th and ends October 6th.
