Do you guys know if Bolling's 26, 3-1/2 long jump was wind legal?

Yes it was. Here you go with the video. He also ran down the field to help his team win the 4 x 100 Relay. So much energy and possibly the most athletic kid in all of the high schools in the US. He dominated everything he does. He is only 7 inches away from the US National High School Record in the Long Jump. Matthew Boling is incredible!

Hi all,

Emile is preparing for the South African student champs next weekend. I will report on his results. The champs are are very tough , they run 100 and 200 with a 4x100 relay in 2 days. The 100's and 200's have a heat, semi and final which means potentially 7 races in 2 days.

Very excited though as Emile has secured a lane in the Nanjing world challenge on 21 May and is on standby for a lane at the Shanghai diamond league!!

Great to see the 10.08 from Browning. I see Hartmann is the same weight as Emile although he is slightly taller than Emile's 6'4".

Always a struggle for the big guys out the blocks. Emile has huge hammies and calves which he uses to start, normally pretty quick out the blocks. I include a link to a video of the 2017 nationals semi final and you can see his start

Bolling wins the boys HS div 11 100m in 10.20 wind 2.2. He won by over .25. He would have placed 4th in the mens 100m invitational.

What's even more amazing is that he hasn't run that event except once since 7th grade a couple of weeks ago. Add to that the fact that he has competed in around 3 or 4 events at this same
track meet. Kid is exhausted and still destroys the competition. What does that tell you about his incredible talent? Super star Matt Boling has arrived. Georgia has one hell of a track recruit
for next year. My fear is that like with most of our men & women he probably will continue to compete and train for the wrong events!

Boling just won the Boys Long Jump at the Texas Relays - 26ft - 3-1/2 inches.
#1 in the country I believe.

so for all of us non-Americans he jumped 8.02m. Wow, most good young sprinters simply run fast and try to jump as best they can on speed. This guy is a REAL long jumper

Boling runs this afternoon in the heats of the 100m at the Texas Relays.
I'm super curious to see how he does.
The Finals will be sometime this weekend.

It came to me - must have been when we were first on this site I think - Delt Cockrell was his name.
I remember seeing a youtube and this black lady on there remarking how fast he was - and he was, but where'd he go? Happens so often

You haven't seen an epic comeback till you see Matthew Boling coming from 6th place to 1st running the anchor leg in the 4 x 100 Relay. The fastest high school kid in america and it's really
not even close. Anyone that can't see this kid is a natural born sprinter is blind. As great as a long jumper he is, please, please run the 100 & 200 meters! Thanks for posting this video for the track fans around the world.

Australian champs next weekend too (they start today (under 16,18,20, para et al,)and go all week but the Open divisions will be mainly when the crowds can arrive on Saturday, Sunday)

Delt Cockrell was fast, but not nearly as fast as most of the guys we talk about here.

I think the talk was of his improvement and speculation about his future. Even in the Panhandle things don't always pan out

For anyone still up the mens semi finals of the Australian 100 Meters Champs is minutes away.

yep, and Edward Nketiah (NZ born of Ghanaian descent) aged 17 and 11 months powered home to beat the Aussie boys. No fantastic time though - 10.22 into a slight headwind. He was fastest in the semi (10.19) and looked very confident.
As always, I expected 2/10th better from the 3 top Aussies but as usual it was a dream.

Interestingly our 100 metre female winner Naa Anang is also of Ghanaian heritage but born here.
A near 6.80m long jumper who started running 100 this season and won with 11.32.
** a 6.88m long jumper as of a day later.She won that too.

Those sub-saharan West African genes sure take some beating in the power sprint events.

Yah so disappointed in the Aussie guys 100m final. Once again Hales start is so bad he is out of the race almost immediately. The guys need to take a breather and re focus. On a very positive note Junior gal Greer looks like a potential flyer over 100/200 and the 400m.

As far as the Finals of the 100 meters for the Men & Women at the Australian National Championships. I will throw my 2 cents in. With the women Naa Anang winning didn't
suprise me much. Melissa Breen is the closest thing to a descent sprinter they have had over the last decade or so. Even Sally Pearson the olympic hurdler has beaten just about
every female sprinter over there on and off for years now. Australia just continues to be very weak as far as female sprinting goes. I sincerely hope that changes in the near future.
So I was not suprised with how the finals went. At least Naa Anang carries herself with class and dignity and respects others around her.

For the men I'm not too happy. While Edward Nketiah is a very talented up and coming sprinter, I didn't like the way he acted towards others for the most part. He even did the
black power salute to the crowd repeatedly after winning the race. The guy i.m.o. is also juiced to the gills but I won't get into that aspect for now.

I still blame Tra, Jack and Rohan for all vastly underacheiving. The times were very average at best and that is being kind. All 3 of these very talented lads should have been able
to run those times in their sleep even after rounds. Rohan Browning just ran a wind legas 10.08 just one week ago. Not he can't even crack the 10.20s! Dissapointing to say the
least. Tra was coming off a bad injury so he gets a pass. Jack Hale and his starts make no sense. It's usually the tall guys who struggle to get out of the blocks. He is not that tall
yet seems to consistantly be last out of the blocks. In a 100 meters race it's won or lost in the first 40 to 60 meters the majority of the time. Hale has to fix this a.s.a.p. Maybe
adding another coach's opinion and watching film to analyze it better. That is about all I can say for now but they all need to look in the mirror.

I must add that Browning's 10.08 a few week's back had a 2 mps tailwind while his 10.28 here had a -0.2. That is a .13 difference right there. Add a little for the pressure, a bit of over striding near the end, and his time isn't far off what he's capable of ATM.
I think it more that Nketia was over-performing and getting better each run. Our little guys don't seem to have the strength to do that.
Time will surely prove he's not juiced I believe. His dad wasn't when he ran 10.11 for NZ and he's tested often here.

With any good time (in Browning's case his 10.08) with 2/mps always has me adding at least 0.10 so that I'm thinking realistically. It's NOT 10.08 BASIC. A lot of people belittle that approach by I stick by it that it's logical for comparison purposes.

Devin Quinn, senior at Illinois, ran 10.20w (2.3) and DNF in the 200m in Texas today.
It would be a shame if he's injured. He seemed on his way to a very good season.

it seems Sally Pearson did not run in the women's 100m finals, a niggle? Winner had a college time for the win.

Her sub 13 will get her into the Oceania Games in June as will the 13.10 of the 3 placegetters today. It's a long time before Doha places will be chosen so no rush.

Celeste Mucci is a 19 year old heptathlete. 13.09 is a big points getter so i doubt she'll do this single event in the Oceania Games. The other 3 can get the individual spots

He shut his race down when he pulled ahead. I have not seen footage of the race but speaking to him afterwards he said it was a good race for him and fairly comfortable but the wind was absolutely insane. He chose not to run the 200's as he ran 3 100's and a relay on Friday and was a bit fatigued.
