No safety would of made that play. It was a good play call by Alabama to isolate their number 1 wr on a safety - caught Clemson off guard and Muse did not have any help over the top.

I do hope Muse does make some big plays in the second half.

Looks like they're still using Muse sparingly as an in the box Safety/LB. Let's hope he can rebound with a big play.

Tua with 2ints! Lawrence has lead Clemson to 28-16 on other hand.
Muse only in on the third down play. Although Muse has been the starter all season and rarely comes out of the game, he got burnt one time and may never live that down. Whitey is not allowed any mistakes, ever! Meanwhile, I've seen missed tackles by other Clemson DB's and as you said Tua 2 INT's, but all's forgiven.
Turner all over the field for Clemson on defense!
Lawrence showing his maturation as a Freshman!

Turner replaces Muse for most of the snaps, They are 2 different type of S, another Safety doing well now...
Can't believe Bama made all mistakes in 1st half, also Fromm and Trevor Lawrence are both legit, hard to imagine that
2 freshman can created havoc to Bama but other QB in the nation can't.

Lawrence would be 1st pick in Draft if he was eligible!

I'm sure Super Tua can overcome a lousy 28 point deficit! He's another future All Pro1:eek:

When was the last time a dominant white QB led his team to the National Championship, mythical or otherwise?

If I’m not mistaken, the last white QB to win a championship was AJ McCarron with Alabama in 2012, so it’s been a while. McCarron was a solid college QB and I think given the chance he can probably have some success in the NFL, perhaps as a spot/bridge starter, I wouldn’t say he was dominant the way Lawrence is.

Lawrence is the 2021 #1 overall pick (I think that’s when he becomes eligible). He has a very bright NFL future. He also has to be the leading contender for the Heisman next year.

The destruction of Alabama was a beautiful thing to watch. The two hyped black quarterbacks (the midget from OK and the magic Samoan) both fell completely flat at the end. They’re not even remotely pro material.

DWF Alabama fandom tasted a big fat slice of humble pie tonight, which they sorely needed.

You wouldn’t be able to tell from stats alone but Nolan Turner and Tanner Muse played lights out last night, minus the TD on Muse even though he wasn’t in that bad of position and it was against the Biletnikoff winner. James Skalski and Chad Smith saw a lot of action and linebacker too. Garrett Williams and Hunter Renfrow played most of the game on offense but didn’t get many looks. Trevor Lawrence and Justyn Ross will be one of the most dangerous combos in college football the next few years. I know we’re not really supposed to celebrate black players here but Justyn Ross is damn good and I’m glad Trevor Lawrence has a good receiver to compliment him. Let’s hope another white receiver can step up next year to replace 4 years of the great Hunter Renfrow!

Jacob Coker was the QB when Alabama won in 2015. He was not very dominant but did play extremely well in the championship game and without him, I don’t think Bama beats Clemson that year.

As expected I couldn't get home for the start but caught the beginning parts on my car radio. When Alabama scored on a long TD pass where Tanner Muse "so called " got burned it set me off and I had trouble recovering the entire game no less.

More on that and Muse in a moment.

It depends on how you look at this shocking victory. I think we were all hoping a player like WR Hunter Renfrow would play hero but apart from Trevor Lawrence in general the white skill players faded from view a bit. That was disappointing and I sense from the posts above many feel the same.

From a broader picture though this is still an important win as we all know caste central Alabama going down in flames is a great treat and watching prick Nick Saban crawl off the field a big loser is gratifying to say the least.

I think the way Alabama lost was telling. Remember most coaches use Alabama as a template for everything they do which means grab as many black players as humanly possible. And of course fill up a defense with black players in the hope that they play like the Alabama black players.

That Alabama's defense looked a bit like one of those Big 12 teams Monday night I would hope some of that caste shine would look more tarnished.

College teams have to stop filling up their rosters, especially on defense where play has been worse than ever, with black athletes and start diversifying by adding more white players to the mix. Our best hope is this game gave some coaches a reason to hesitate on their full blown caste approach.

As for the QB duel Trevor clearly outdueled Tua and if Trevor was eligible he would be the number one pick hands down. Peyton Manning is the best comp but even Peyton wasn't this poised at Tennessee. Clemson' game plan confused Tua. In fact much like Mahomes with the Chiefs this year, Tua came out of the gate swinging and hitting home runs with ease but as the season wore on the cracks started to show and last night those simple reads that turned into TDs earlier in the season were properly spied. And he was getting pressure and they couldn't grind it out running so they came up dry and thank God for that.

I think the answer to the question what national championship team last started a white DB was Craig Stetz of LSU in 2008 which I think Truthteller provided for us recently.

I can't recall the last time I saw two white DBs on the field at the same time in a championship game. We did last night with Tanner Muse #19 and Nolan Turner #24. And Red Raider is right, they played sound solid safety play last night which is rare in football these days.

The last time I remember Tanner getting beat deep was their early A@M game in which he was yanked and never returned which pissed the hell out of me. Here he was also yanked as mentioned above but slowly worked his way back into the game and did some good things in the second half. Of course his most impressive play was stopping Tua cold on an important 4th down play.

Is it me or is Muse one tough looking SOB? Hell I would draft him just on the way he looks. Ha.

Muse is a box strong safety. Physical tough this is the type of player teams need at the college and NFL level. The other striking thing about Muse is his straight line speed. If he gets invited to the combine don't be surprised if he burns rubber. Reports over the past couple of years have him running 4.3 40 yard dashes. Even on the play last night where he got turned around he was right there which was remarkable enough.

The hyped first round pick S from Alabama Deionte Thompson #14 also got turned around but he looked completely lost in space on that long Ross TD pass play. He almost tripped himself. So the Tanner play wasn't so bad looking after all. I just wished he would have been able to make the tackle like he normally does but he played well in the second half and even batted down a ball.

His teammate the fluid and fast Nolan Turner was credited with four tackles but he sure was around a lot of plays. Turner as mentioned above is more of a free safety but I think we all agree he could be NFL material too.

I would like to think some of these heads up their asses coaches were watching this game and seeing two white safeties perform their jobs correctly and say to themselves "we got to get some honky DBs."

Hopefully Alabama stumbles going forward and doesn't reach any more title games with Saban. Unless they reverse their caste methods which is highly unlikely. S Keaton Anderson and freshman ( RS?) all purpose Slade Bolden might emerge but I wouldn't bank on it.

Still the team we all wanted to win, Clemson, won and they won big. Down goes the caste monster.

Wouldn't Vinny Sunseri have been the most recent white DB to start on a winning team, or am I remembering something wrong?

Maybe he wasn't a full-time starter due to whiteness?

I momentarily forgot S Nolan Turner, a rising star if there ever was one, intercepted a pass against Notre Dame in the semifinals. Below is a terrific article written right before the big game on the sad but Hollywood type story surrounding Nolan and his Head Coach Dabo Swinney. I had mentioned this story previously but it bears repeating. Nolan played a lot last night. What a treat to see two white DBs (Muse) playing together in such a big game no less.

Also would like to add Dabo Swinney's post game comments on Nolan Turner and how he expects Nolan to become a pivotal player the next two seasons. See below.

America, Sunseri might've started in a title game, but I thought he was injured at the apex of his SEC career. Quick net search confirms that was the case. Played special teams early in college; started at safety as a junior until he tore his ACL. Oddly, enough, however, he decided to jump to the NFL right after he recovered from knee surgery. In retrospect, that was a very bad choice. Honestly, at the time, I thought it was horrible idea, even if he had never been injured -- no way would a white safety be given the "benefit of the doubt" coming off such a serious injury. But who knows, perhaps Saban informed Vinny that some "superhero recruit" would come in and take his job as a senior, making him flee too early?

Even though he's the son of an ex-All American linebacker at Pitt and longtime NFL and college coach, he might not have been aware of just how strong the Caste system is and believed his physical skill and excellent "game tape" at a top football school like Alabama would give him a fair shot in the NFL?

Video of Vinny's epic 73 yard pick-six of a former Heisman winning quarterback:

Longer YouTube video of him beaming with pride after his strong Pro Day showing (4.48/40), just 5 months after surgery. In the video he comes off as classy, very polite to the media, intelligent and well spoken. Claims NFL scouts projected he could gone anywhere between Round 4 and undrafted. He went in round 6 and wound up relegated to covering kicks for parts of two season.
