former Gonzaga standout Domantas Sabonis has been on a tear. since he got away from the black hole that is Westbrook, he has been showcasing a game that combines ferocious aggression and highly skilled footwork. Friday night he went for 19 and 16 along with 4 assists. he seemingly hits 70% from the floor every night, as well. dude is legit.

The young Sabonis is almost averaging 15/10 a game, and he’s only 22 years old. With playing time, he should become a regular 20/10 guy as soon as next year and if the Pacers can achieve some success, all-star considerations will follow.

While on topic, a quick mention of the elder Sabonis, his father Arvydas. It’s a shame that Arvydas could not play in the NBA during his prime. It’s not an overstatement that for about a 5-year period from 1983-1987, he was a top 5 player in the world, including all those NBA players, and there were some good ones during that time (Bird, Magic, Jordan, Olajuwon, old Kareem, etc).

If Sabonis had played his entire career in the NBA, he could’ve ended up as a top 10-15 player, all-time. He was that good. Unbelievable athleticism for his size (you can find a YouTube video of him abusing a young David Robinson during the FIBA WC in 1986), great shooter and passer, could dominate you posting up or facing the basket and take it to the hole. He came here in the 90s to play for Portland with wrecked knees and other injuries, and yet still had a solid NBA career.

In the second video, the black announcer (I believe it’s Reggie Miller) says, “Pat Connaughton put a couple brothas on a poster right there. He did.” Clearly he’s speaking in racial terms as he emphasized the a instead of the er. The connotation to me being that his fellow coethnics should feel extra embarrassment as it was a “white boy” dunking on them. Now I don’t fault him for thinking that way but I am angered that a White announcers would be run out of (((the business))) for such an inference.

Young Sabonis was like a young George Foreman and his NBA career was similar to old George Foreman. His body type changed and his game changed too. Sabonis became a down low immovable object, he was the only center in the NBA that a prime Shaq couldn't back down. Sabonis stood his ground and Shaq had to shoot or pass off, he couldn't do his typical constant fouls until he was within arm length of a baby hook or a power dunk .

I've been keeping up with Connaughton this year, and I just gotta say judging by how he played in Portland I did not see this coming. He started the year burried on the bench and now he's pretty much the 6th man!

Jake Layman with a career high 24 points on 10/13 shooting in 26 minutes last night for the Blazers.

The Blazers are a strange, frustrating franchise that stockpiles White talent (Connaughton (now with Bucks),Layman, Zach Collins, Nick Stauskas) and then lets them rot on the bench. Nurkic has been a mainstay at center, backed up by Myers Leonard. Stauskas and Layman could each average 20 PPG if given the opportunity.

In a recent development it appears Matthew Dellavedova is a Cavalier again! In a 3 team trade Cleveland sent George Hill to the Bucks for Dellavedova and John Henson, with the Wizards also receiving Sam Dekker for a 2nd rd pick.

Good news for Delly who should make an immediate impact for the Cavs, people forget that once one of the Cavs most important players in there 2016 championship team.

Arvydas would have been the most dominant center in the NBA had he played in husband prime. Great shoutout to the guy. He was a shell of himself when he got to play here and was still a top 10 center during his time as a Blazer.

Detroit started both Luke Kennard and Jon Leur tonight! While Leur is most likely just spot-starting, Kennard shold stick in the starting 5 as Detroit is actually pretty high on him.

Leur is most likely just spot-starting, but Kennard shold stick as the Detroit media is pretty high on him.

I don't follow the NBA anywhere like I used to but it is a shame that the three top white players of the past several years have been hampered by injuries. Dragic has been battling knee problems for a while now and has finally been shut down for a couple of months. Porzingis is still recovering from an ACL tear and Hayward doesn't seem like his old self after his horrific injury last season.

Where are the future young white stars? Doncic has stepped up well but anyone else? Certainly centers Zach Collins and Jakob Poetl have flashed potential but are relegated to being back ups. Markkanen was out of action early and is just returning to form. He scored 32 last night in a rare win. He has adapted well but the Bulls are beyond awful.

Two 21 year old players to keep an eye on. Korkmaz of the 76ers is a lithe sharp shooting Turk And Rodions Kurucs of the Nets is a fluid and active swing player who lit it up last night in a loss against the Pacers. First time I got a good look at him and he looks like a young Gordon Hayward out there.

There are too many white players lingering on benches who should have stayed in college where they would be shining stars and get plenty of exposure. Too many to mention.

Lebron should take a trip to Africa to see what real slavery looks like.
