Congrats to Jan Volko. I haven't found a video of the finals but he took the silver medal in the 100 meters! This is outstanding. Only 1 guy was faster and not by much more than a couple of blinks of an eye. He ran another 10.18 in his
3rd race in a little over a day with 0.0 wind. So again he did another sub 10.20 all on his own with pressure. This kid is the real deal. The pride of Slovenia! Wish he could have taken gold but Jan Volko has still made us all proud. He will now race another 3 times in the 200 meters heats. Hoping for another medal.

I also want to give alot of respect and congrats to Sam Samuelson. He took 4th in the 100 finals for Finland and just missed out on the medal stand! He is a flying Finn for sure and my nickname for him is the "blonde bullet" Nice show mate.

For those that didn't see it we had a clean sweep for the medals with the womens 100 meters. Congrats
to Eva Swaboda. The time doesn't matter when you win a medal and into a negative wind with a bad start.

Volko is only 20 years old. So he has tremendous upside. Anyone know if Tortu is still injured? I figured him to break 10.10 this year and win this particular meet as he is only 19.

From what I read he is back to full training, should be competing later this month

Young U.S. based Brit, Tim Duckworth (21 last month) started the Under 23 decathlon with a 10.51 / 100 metre personal best.
This was easily the fastest time of the day and a great start to his quest to earn 8100 points to make the World Champs team.
His PB 7973 was set in March to place him 2nd for his age to Daley Thompson.
It will be interesting to watch how he goes over the next 2 days. He became British under 23 heptathlon record holder (6165 points) earlier this season and has PV of 5.25, a high jump of 2.16 and LJ of 7.80 so a fast, jumping athlete who can also throw a bit

Volko does it!! First place in 200, 20.33 with 1.6+ wind. French kid in second 20.66.

Don't forget the German Kid Gurski got the bronze medal so it was a clean sweep for our guys.
Jan Volko is a true duel threat. He set a new Europen Under 23 Champs Record, and a new
Slovenian National Record too in his 6th race in 2 1/2 days. Simply amazing perfomance by
the 20 year old. With Volko and Tortu the future is very bright as they both could end up being
very similar to Lemaitre & Guliyev in a few years time!

Congrats to Jan Volko. He is the pride os Slovakia! A superstar is emerging and we have to create a t
separate thread for him soon. A silver in the 100 and gold in the 200 meters. What a epic weekend!
Here is the video of the race. There was never a doubt from the start to the finish.

Don't let the Slovakians hear you call him Slovenian lol. His 20.54 in the semi was his personal best and then he lopped another 0.2 off it in the final.
Looking good for 3 weeks time

Didnt see it mentioned anywhere, but Chinese Zhenye Xie ran a windy 9.93 in Madrid last week. Not a wind legal time but definitely someone to keep an eye on. The Chinese relay could have much success.

yes, the Japanese and Chinese are starting to crowd around that 10 second mark. Small wonder they're getting relay teams into the 37s

Bingtian SU runs the 100 tomorrow in the Rabat Diamond League. He has a PB of 9.99 (2x in 2015). His PB this year is 10.09, and he also ran a 9.92 wind +2.4 this year in Eugene. His PB in the 60 is 6.50. Those times are no joke.

Emile has had a great year. He belongs at this level. I'm sorry he didn't qualify for the worlds but he is only at the beginning of a long career. Tell him to keep his head up and keep smiling. Your son is so talented. The times will come. Maybe even later this summer. Good luck to him and thank you so much for all of the updates. It's fun to read them!

Samuelsson wouldve medalled in the 200m for sure if not for the slightest of false starts in the semi, he is a really good 200m runner with terrific speed endurance, I can see a 20.5-20.6 for him this season.

But huge respect to Jan Volko 20.3 is a great time, more so considering he seems so stiff in his upper torso while running.

I recommend you guys to keep an eye on Samuel Purola who just turned 17, he has already ran a 10.31 this year and will probably get to low 10.2s before the season is over, huge talent there.

now, if he comes to Australia in good form for February next year he can run at Canberra at 600 metres elevation, usually warm and with a following legal breeze? But then again, you have those conditions too
