Can't help myself. I'll stick to early O players and worry about the confusing D later. Looks like we will have a super rare RB sighting in the first round in Heisman hopeful McCafferty. And the QB's offer intrigue. Seth Russell with the Driskel like speed could vault into the first round with a great year. Pretty athletic bunch including Chad Kelly, Baker Mayfield, Dakota Prukop a transfer to Oregon and a real dark horse to keep an eye on CJ Beatherd out of Iowa.
But as usual the draft grade will depend on the state of the wide receivers. Lets see if we can follow up with some more drafted next year.
Three keys for the wideouts.. 1- remain healthy
2-have a very good to great year
3- get invited to the combine and run a 4.4 40 or at worst 4.54. Both Cajuste and Spruce failed to run solid 40 times and it killed their chances.
If a wr is not invited to the combine he must have a great season and run no slower than a 4.4 ala Daniel Braverman.
Two players who figure to get invited to the combine are Ryan Switzer and Cooper Kupp. If they nail the 40 they will likely get drafted.
Will others emerge? Jordan Westerkamp could although no buzz on his speedy teammate Brandon Reilly which is head scratching.
TCU's Ty Slanina has been underused or injured but could emerge. He does have some speed. There are other names but a little guy like Louisiana Tech'sTrent Taylor could move up especially if he burns a fast 40.
It is still early but we are in a better spot now than last year at this time.

It's never too early for the NFL draft.

Christian McCaffrey should be a top 10 pick in the 2017 draft, based on merit. Of course, that may not happen due to his race.

If given a chance, players such as McCaffrey and 2016 draftee Moritz Boehringer will help break the false stereotype that white people are unathletic.

I am interested to see if Air Force DB Weston Steelhammer gets any of the same notoriety next year leading up to the draft as Reynolds and if the Air Force is going to allow him to play in the NFL like the Navy is allowing Keenan Reynolds to.

Nice thread Shadowlight; Yes indeed...fully expect Caste-buster McCaffrey to be a Top 10 pick...he deserves a seat at the table with the All-time RB greats! Stanford will have to replace 4 of the 5 O-Line starters. Kupp & Switzer should also be electric! Westerkamp & Trent Taylor will be fun to watch again

Explosive Thomas Sperbeck (Boise St) should get a look in the later rounds...River Cracraft; Matt Vandeberg & Gehrig Dieter should be at least UDRFA

What will become of the oft injured QB Taysom Hill?...he was really making solid progress as a pocket passer to go along with his Running Back skills
Also QB Thomas Sirk? (Duke) who had over 800 yards rushing but ruptured achilles tendon

The Linebackers position looks stout from a caste standpoint in 17'...Keep an Eye on :

I have started to look at next years draft. At this point it looks like 2015 all over again. Granted alot will change and hopefully some white QBs come from nowhere to leapfrog the overrated black quarterback Watson.

Kiper has Miami QB Brad Kaaya listed as his second pick. What a joke. Of course, since White QBs went 1-2 this year, that must be made up with a couple of black quarterbacks going 1-2 next year; and I'm sure neither of them will have to wait to be #1 on their respective teams either, like Wentz will have to wait in Philly. Instead, they will immediately become the #1 QB, no matter what, just like when Winston was simply anointed ahead of Glennon without any competition whatsoever. Oh, "White privilege"...when will it ever end???

Very good. Media is quick to point out his "character issues." As long as he lays low in his social life and performs well on the field I predict he'll be a 1st rounder. Looking forward to him carving out all black defenses in the SEC.

Kelly has an absolute rocket for an arm and is a dual threat qb. Pretty sure the offense he led was the most prolific in the conference. He needs to do his best to not attract any negative off field attention as it will no doubt lead to Manziel comparisons and all the experts will try to kill his draft stock.

Here is a blurb from Weenie world on QB Brady Gustafson I mentioned back in April in the 2016 College Football News thread. They are two months behind me in their "analysis" and it is their full time job.

Bleacher Report's Brent Sobleski says Montana redshirt senior QB Brady Gustafson will be compared to Carson Wentz throughout the draft process.

Along with his ideal 6-foot-7, 230-pound frame, Gustafson boasts "an effortless throwing motion" and is "athletic enough to maneuver around the pocket," per Sobleski. Gustafson was lightly recruited and was buried on the depth chart for his first three years on campus. Montana HC Bob Stitt's arrival changed his fortunes rapidly. "He’s got the physical tools, and he's quicker and faster than people realize," Stitts said. "He can also run a little bit and cover some ground. ... He can make all of the throws, too." Like Wentz, Gustafson, who suffered a broken leg on September 19, missed much of his season. Upon his return, Gustafson completed 58.9 percent of his passes for 619 yards and a 5/1 TD/INT rate over his last two games. "He's raw, but the tools, attitude and approach are present to develop into an early-round possibility after a strong senior campaign," Sobleski wrote.

Wes Lunt is another former 4star recruit who hasn't had the ideal career. He's got another year as Illinis starter. Threw for 2700, 14tds, and 6ints. Modest numbers but Illinois best WR, Dudek was injured. 6'5 225 dual threat only things that could hinder him are injuries and an inept all black coaching regime.

Not breaking news: I recently noticed that Ohio State lineman Pat Elflein was moving from guard to center (and captaining the team) for his redshirt senior year. I had previously seen him projected in the first round and listed as the top interior lineman overall.

On the one hand, the versatility will only help him stick in the pros. On the other, the top center usually follows a couple of top guards in the draft order. Not terrible news but perhaps not ideal for a name that belongs on this list.

So, according to them, among the Top 64 players for the '17 Draft at this position, there are 4 black Gods in O.J. Howard, Jordan Leggett, Bucky Jones and Evan Engram, and a single White Hope in Jake Butt. Jordan Leggett has some talent, but Howard and Engram are far from complete and have lacked toughness. Evan Engram would be Brandon Pettigrew 2.0 and the "freakish" Howard akin to Jermaine Gresham. Up to this point, Howard has been nothing more than a finesse player. Barring injury, a couple of black TEs will likely go in the Top 64 along with 2 or 3 Whites. Here are some exciting Juniors to keep an eye on:

I was reading about Lunt - last year I believe his recievers dropped something like 46 balls which if caught would of boosted his comp % up to 65. I really loathe the Illini now - once Lunt and Barton get out of there it's gonna be a coal black train wreck with hatie at the helm.

As I have been slowly getting into football mode I think this year might see a few white wrs and dbs get drafted. Both positions seem to be fairly deep with talent. I am interested to see how it all materializes over the course of the season. I also think we will see another white qb kind of rise up draft boards. It's a fairly interesting qb class the more I look at it.
