Racial funneling is a great term Leonardfan and yes it does get more stringent every step up the ladder. I sense public frustration over the lack of white skill players and speed oriented guys. Note the excitement when a white guy does run to daylight. I think that elite speed needs to be nourished, emphasized and nurtured. The chronic fatalism of coaches and sports people surrounding white speed only stunts developing players progress. While tons of white kids may have the base to become very fast it takes years of development for it to reach the ceiling. There is simply not enough encouragement given to white athletes to reach their potential when it comes to speed. While black athletes cultivate it daily too often white athletes are stuck in rigid systems that discourage running to daylight.
The combine annoys the living crap out of me-- (and yes it is not a full sample} because it reinforces the stereotypes and I agree with Don this run Rich run thing is a bad joke.
By the way Don I like the streamlined site . And I like the expanding message which cuts down on clutter.
Anyway Leonardfan it seems on the surface next years combine should be better than these last two. I am sure we will start discussing it in the not too distant future.
I like Fackrell a lot. Love to see him slip into the first round. I don't think he is yet up to full speed due to the acl injury.
Lets see what happens on the pro days.
I went to a school with a guy who ran a hand timed 12.X in junior high. He never participated in track and field and it wasn't even encouraged. I knew another guy who ran similar times and didn't want to train with the team but wanted to train during his own time and the coach told him to show up at 8am or don't bother to run for the school. Needless to say neither guy did track for my school.

Contrast this with this million to one shot who only ran a 12.X as freshman in high school and might become a world or Olympic champion and has already won a bronze medal......http://www.letsrun.com/forum/flat_read.php?thread=6727570

Good article on Corney, hopefully he gets drafted.

Just reading some of the post combine "buzz". The excuse factory is in high gear stating that several of the black players ran slower than expected 40s because they all had a "virus".

Just read an article and Scooby Wright was described as an "ankle-biting tackler". I guess his dominance behind the line of scrimmage means nothing.

North Dakota LB Will Ratelle had a great work out at Minnesota's proday - measured in at 5'9 251 lbs - 36 reps on BP, 36 inch vert, 9-10 broad and 4.55 40 - really good numbers for a LB - dare I say elite athleticism. The Patriots were at the workout so hopefully he ends up with them next season.

Beastly workout, dare I say epic? I'm sure scouts will hold his height against him but everything else is off the charts! Haven't seen film on him but he's clearly explosive. Experts love the long arms but in this case shorter arms helped him pump out 36 reps!

-Oklahoma State slot WR David Glidden ran a 4.52 40, 4.30 short shuttle. Another good white WR prospect the media ignores..

- Jason Vander Laan a record setting QB at Ferris St. Had a good workout at 6'3 245 4.7 40! Scouts and "experts" are pegging him as a TE calling him "Tebow 2.0" Boykin,Prescott, and Brissett can play QB at next level though we are assured constantly...

- UConn RB Max Delorenzo put up some nice agility times. 4.55 40

- Dan Vitale is a STUD. Teams are buzzing about him right now.

- Glenn Gronkowski and Derek Watt have legit shots at being drafted. They hail from talented families.

- ASU LB Antonio Longino underrated defender : 6'2 235, 4.6 40, 22 bench reps.

Heath Evans not only ran a 4.82 40, he did an amazing 37 reps on the bench press. http://www.boston.com/sports/footba...aign=zergnet_921689&s_campaign=Sports:Zergnet

Evans could still be one of the better power running backs in the league. But he's another -- aren't they all? -- former NFLer who will never say anything about the discrimination he faced and White football players face today. He's such a cherubic, upbeat type that he may not even be aware of the Caste System.

A black dlineman Darrius Latham was just arrested for dui. Just remember his name come draft time to see how many better more productive white defenders are overlooked to give this bum an undeserving chance at making a team.

Nice numbers from the Wisconsin pro day - Erickson especially!

Indeed DWFs are dumbfounded. For some "reason" they didn't consider Erickson athletic..

LB Dillon Lee (yes, a white SEC defensive player!) had a good performance at bama's pro day too.

"Lee appeared to have been one of the big winners on Wednesday.

“It was a really big day,” he said. “I didn’t go to the Combine, so it’s kind of all in on this one day. So I was kind of nervous. But once I did my vert, my broad and my bench back-to-back real quick it was just kind of another day after that.”

Lee said his measurements were 6’3”, 240 pounds. He did 20 reps in the bench, 31 inches in the vertical jump and 113 inches in the broad jump. NFL.com reported his other scores as 4.83 and 4.77 seconds in the 40, 4.34 seconds in the 20-yard short and a three-cone time of 7.11 seconds."

6'3 220 4.45 40 - that's ideal size and speed for a slot WR  So glad he was utilized properly in college.

Spruce improved his 40 time to 4.56 at his pro day. Hopefully he continues with the positive momentum.

As we have seen over the past few days there have been several white WRs that have put up great workout numbers comparable to black affletic WRs invited to the combine and given undeserving praise.

Glidden was productive and has adequate speed. Of big interest is Erickson. Very good speed and athletic and quick and looks great out on the field.. And Higgins was always touted for his explosive "speed" in college and teammate Joe Hansley was considered a plodder yet their 40 times were the same and Hansley had a better vertical. Mullaney was always considered slow--but pulls out a 4.45 40.
Again the purging of the white wide out is in full effect so the pattern is deserving guys like Erickson and Mullaney will be ignored just like they were for the combine.. We can only hope something breaks open for these guys.

Surprisingly nice write-up on Northwestern "Superback" Dan Vitale. He put up amazing numbers at the combine and has had very good production in college, one to watch on draft day.
https://www.yahoo.com/sports/blogs/...n-vitale-thrived-as--superback-153606589.html

I am rooting for him. I do hope he gets drafted fairly high to a team that will not utilize him as a tackling dummy but rather a legitimate running back with superb receiving skills (he would be quite a weapon as a 3rd down RB). It's a shame he doesn't have the body type and melanin of the dumpy terd tolbert or he would be guaranteed 100 touche season.
