2015 Masters

The Masters is probably my favorite sporting event. It's an amazing showcase of a White cultural sporting event. Augusta National is a beautiful course, impeccably designed to produce challenging, dramatic golf. The television coverage is superior, with a maximum of 4 commercial minutes per hour (compare to Super Bowl). The athletes, gallery, and announcers all respect the game and the traditions of the event.

Here's what I'm looking for: Spieth and Mcilroy, the future of golf, shooting it out. Dustin Johnson seeking his first major and redemption from his demons. Mickelson conjuring some magic. Bubba Watson attacking his favorite course. Adam Scott, Jimmy Walker, Billy Horschel should all be in contention. My pick: Dustin Johnson.

It's funny to watch the DWFs and their enablers fretting, wringing their hands, gnashing their teeth over the trials of their golfing god, Tiger Woods. The endless Tiger worship used to be annoying and aggravating, but now it is just pure entertainment.

Here is one particularly laughable piece from the caste clowns at "SB Nation", whatever that is.

Golf and The Masters are saved!!! I was watching the Shell Houston Open, and according to the guys on the Tiger Channel (Golf Channel) the Man himself just tweeted out he'll be playing at Augusta next weekend.

I don't think anybody else should bother showing up, since He'll now be playing. I bet if he starts playing badly he'll withdraw again because of an "injury." I'm sure the media already has the injury excuse ready to go when he falls out of contention again.

Tiger must be deluded enough to believe he can win the tournament. he has zero chance to win, and probably 50/50 to make the cut. His true believers will make excuses because he hasn't played a tournament in a while.

Back when Woods was Woods odds makers juiced down his odds of winning majors to as little as 9/5. Which if you understand golf and betting odds this is totally insane. But that is the power of the casual 20 buck better on skewering the odds. A lame Baldrick at 40 to 1 is the same sucker bet skewered the other way.

I'm hoping Woods doesn't come close to making the cut, thus ending the media clown show and allowing the focus to be on the contenders for the final two rounds rather than The Pretender.

If there was an actual press in this country instead of an endless series of scripted agendas being force-fed on the public, the Benny Hill theme music would be playing every time Woods' "highlights" from this year are shown, and long overdue, serious inquires would be ongoing as to whether and how much he abused his body with steroids. He should be the poster boy for the harmful effects of substance abuse; instead the shameless army of media bootlickers still act as though the Woods of 2000 is a mere good chip away from resurfacing.

Golf is mostly a finesse sport. It is difficult to understand how a participant like Woods can so thoroughly lose his skill seemingly overnight. He mind must be completely washed out.

That's also a HUGE double standard... do you think if somebody like say Phil or Bubba did what Woods did, that they'd even be let near the PGA tour again? Not only was Woods let back in with no problem, they still cheer for him as if nothing happened.

On a side note, a VERY interesting grouping of Rory and Phil together for the first couple of rounds along with Ryan Moore. Should be a fun group to watch.

Phil and Bubba are assumed to be in control of their behavior. That's what makes all of the moral preening from the Left such a complete joke. The entire thing rests on the premise that only whites (men only) are expected to control themselves. Whether or not the others are even capable of doing so is another question. I actually hope he makes the cut. I love watching them fall all over themselves. Each time it gets a little bit more absurd.

Without game sharpness I expect a new all time high score or there about. He could challenge the scores of Sandy Lyle or Fuzzy Zoeller for high score of former champions.

Since arriving at Augusta, Woods seems to have a drastically different attitude than we’ve seen from him in years. The normally reclusive, bitter, discourteous, mean-spirited, defensive narcissist we know and love (to hate) has been replaced with a smiling, jovial, lighthearted social butterfly who’s been palling around with other golfers, hugging caddies, giving cordial interviews to the media, showing no signs of injury, he’s participating in the “Par 3 Contest†for the first time in a decade, and he allegedly “shot around 30†during practice on the front 9 on Monday…

While I’m not nervous that Tiger to contend for the win, I think he could finish somewhere in the top 10-20. I think he makes the cut and becomes a “big comeback story†this weekend. I hope I’m wrong, but the guy seems to be playing well in practice rounds, happy, confident, loose, and he really has nothing to lose and everything to gain...

I’m hoping for a win by one of my favorite golfers: Dustin Johnson, Martin Kaymer, Phil Mickelson, Jordan Spieth, Bubba Watson, Thomas Bjorn, Bernd Wiesberger, or Adam Scott.

According to Gerry Dulac, a hard-core Tiger fanboy, writing in today's Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, "more than half" of the so-called "reporters" who attended Woods' first press conference at the tournament left when he was done and the next player entered the room -- Rory McIlroy.

No interest whatsoever in the number one ranked player in the world who has won the last two majors and has four of them at the age of 25 and is going for the career grand slam this week -- a Tigeresque performance that they couldn't care less about because he's not Tiger.

The Post-Gazette sub-heads Dulac's piece "Woods Grabs All of Masters Attention." A more honest headline would be "As Always, Media Not Interested in Anyone But Woods."

It was pretty cool to watch the great Jack Nicklaus get an ace today in the Par 3 contest. That's one of the great things about Augusta and The Masters: Having all of the legends coming back each year and being able to participate, keeping them involved. It's really fun to watch them and the younger guys on tour together. Looking forward to a great week of golf from Augusta!!


Somewhat surprisingly, ESPN (previewing The Masters) only had a 2 minute or so segment on Tiger, which wasn't even the first thing they talked about: I believe it was about Rory. They've actually been giving a comprehensive preview so far.

Edit: Nevermind. Scott Van Pelt, Curtis Strange, and Paul Azinger are reminiscing about the "good old" days of Tiger now. They showed that great shot he hit against Chris DiMarco in 2005, and they've been lamenting how far he's fallen.

Looking forward to the next few days of watching The Masters. I've made my feelings known over the last couple of years; I would like to see a dominant player come out and rival what Woods did over a 10 year stretch and see how he might be covered. So far McIlroy has come close but is not from the US and no matter what he does, he may never get the kind of treatment Woods received and still does. With that said, I would like to see McIlroy win to give him the career slam and 5 Majors at age 25!

If McIlroy doesn't win, my favorites are:

Jordan Spieth, may have the star power to rival Woods someday, but has to win a Major soon. Last year at 20 became the youngest runner-up ever and is 1 of 4 players of the last 75 years to win twice before age 22.

Patrick Reed, has won 4 times, age 24, already and seems poised to win a Major. I like his confidence. He hasn't let the media get to him after saying he was playing like a top 5 player last year.

Dustin Johnson, has won at least once a year over an 8 year span and another great player without a Major. I don't know if his putting will hold up at the difficult greens of The Maters.

Phil Mickelson, an obvious choice for his character on and off the course! A fourth Masters would tie him with Palmer and Woods and only 4 men, Nicklaus (6), Palmer (4) and Woods(4) with 4 or more Masters.

My sentimental pick, Lee Westwood. Possibly the greatest golfer of all time without a Major. Westwood has finished in the top 3 in all 4 Majors without a win. I wouldn't mind a bit if he could finally break through.

I will try to update on the scores as much as possible, however, I will be gone most of the day Saturday. Hopefully others here will update scoring also.

I've really enjoyed watching Spieth play today; the kid is simply has the "it" factor. He's got a great all around game. I think he could be the next great American golfer.

It's looking like a good leaderboard; Spieth is on top right now, followed by Ernie Els in 2nd. Among the various golfers at -1 or better: Rory, Sergio, Phil, Patrick Reed, Paul Casey, Justin Rose, Bubba, Keegan Bradley, Dustin Johnson. Good to see a lot of bigger names up top.

Woods finishes at +1, which actually isn't too bad considering this is his first round of competitive golf in a while. Even though it's only day one, he's gonna have to hope a LOT of people falter to get back into contention.



In some better news, Jordan Spieth birdies 18 to shoot a 64, giving him the lead by 3 at -8 going into the 2nd round tomorrow!! It was nice to see Ernie Els getting back into a groove as well; -5 on the day. Phil and Rory are at -2 and -1 respectively, not out of it by any means.

On another note, it's pretty awesome to see Tom Watson still shooting in red figures; he finished at -1.
