I hadn't seen this topic posted yet, so forgive me if I am posting "out of turn." I'm simply excited for my city to be hosting the 2014 PGA Championship. What better location for one of the majors than the incredibly beautiful course named after the Asgard home of the Norse gods. Valhalla Golf Club, designed by Jack Nicklaus, opened in 1986. The private club has hosted the 1996 and 2000 PGA Championship, the 2004 and 2011 Senior PGA Championship, and the 2008 Ryder Cup.

So I say welcome to Rory McIlroy, Adam Scott, Henrik Stenson, Justin Rose, Matt Kuchar, Bubba Watson, Jim Furyk, Phil Mikelson, Kentucky natives J.B Holmes and Kenny Perry, the rest of the golfers, and any of the forum members in town for the tournament. Welcome!!!

Congratulations veritas on your city, Louisville, KY. hosting the PGA. Will you be able to attend the tournament?

My favorites to win are Rory McIlroy, Jordan Spieth, Patrick Reed or Adam Scott and or Phil.

Unfortunately I can't start updating anyone about scores and tee times, because they're, the Golf Channel, is covering Woods from the time he got out of bed, followed him to the restroom and now watching him practice putting while the PGA is starting. I mean they are not talking about anyone else. It's like he's the only guy in the tournament. All Tiger, all the time. It's like everyone's in a trance!

Maybe the radio will cover the rest of the PGA field. I'll try that avenue while working.

Watching the "Marquee Group" online feed of Phil, Padraig Harrington, and Woods, I feel they need to put a PG-13 rating on this group feed because of Tiger... strong language and mild violence.

As Woods drops into a T-58 at +3, I've also heard via the radio, he has done some club slamming also!

I've seen that as well... he even hit one shot waaayy left into the hazard!! Needless to say, it wasn't a pretty site after he hit that.

According to these announcers, every single shot Woods hits is huge for him, and may well get him back into the tournament.

Phil makes birdie on 4 to get back to even!!

Kevin Chappell is up by 1 stroke at -5, with Edoardo Molinari at -4.

Rickie Fowler and Ian Poulter are at -3, while Westwood and Furyk are at -2.

Into the afternoon, we have a pretty packed leaderboard so far!! It's been a fun day of golf.

Lee Westwood and Kevin Chappell have the co-lead at -6 yet, with Jim Furyk, Ryan Palmer, and Edoardo Molinari and -5. There are a host of golfers within 4 strokes of the lead, including Rory, Bubba Watson, Phil, and Rickie Fowler. Shaping up to be a great PGA Championship!!

After a double bogey on 10 and a bogey on 11, Rory had quite the rebound the rest of the way!! Awesome last 7 holes.

There are a TON of "big-name" golfers in contention after Day 1. There's a 3-way tie at the top with Westwood, Chappell, and Ryan Palmer. Just a few within 4 strokes of the lead: Jim Furyk, Rory, Rickie Fowler, Phil, Geoff Ogilvie and Steve Stricker. There's also a host of guys at -1: Sergio Garcia, Bubba, Martin Kaymer, Zach Johnson, Luke Donald, Hunter Mahan, and Ernie Els.

SportsCenter’s coverage of Day #1 of the PGA Championship was predictably 100% Tiger-related. Several clips were shown of Woods hitting poor tee shots and then immediately bashing his clubs into the ground in a fit of rage and then mouthing curse words as he sauntered angrily down the fairway like the petulant, mean-spirited, entitled little bitch that he is. One such example...

He also did a lot of “intentional club dropping” at the tail end of swings following poor shots, another infantile staple of Tiger’s temper…

One of the female ESPN anchors, perhaps Cassidy Hubbarth, said something like: “Whoa, he does not look happy about that shot.” Seconds later, they showed a comparison of Tiger’s opening round from the PGA circa 2000 (in which he performed well) and compared it to yesterday’s performance. Yes, nearly 15 years later, as if he's still the same player. In his interview afterwards, Woods insisted that he’s “completely pain free” and that “if I shoot a few below par rounds I’ll be right in the thick of it on Sunday.” If he continues to struggle, look for his pain to swiftly augment.

Of course, all the white golfers are faring quite well, with only a handful of Asians (Seung-Yul Noh, Jason Day, Ishikawa, Matsuyama) in contention. It would be nice to see one of this year’s previous major winners (Watson, Kaymer, McIlroy) take the trophy, or a top player without a major (Westwood, Stenson, Poulter) to his name.

If only to further the acute humiliation that has been Woods’ 2014 campaign, I hope that he does play, aggravate his alleged back injury, “quitâ€￾ again after playing poorly (he’d never quit if he had a chance to win, remember the 2008 U.S. Open?), and run home to Lindsey Vonn Afrika with his dingleberry-encrusted tail between his legs.

The announcers are proclaiming it must be his back for why he's playing so bad. His back was fine Wednesday when he played 9 flawless holes and remained on the course practicing after his brief interview saying nothing about any back problem.

Then we found out it wasn't his back last week, but another injury having to do with his hip/ lower back something, popping out of place or something, but not pertaining to his back injury that he had supposed surgery on?

Now, since he's playing bad again today, it must be his back. The announcers are even willing Tiger on to finish. Ian Baker-Finch whimpering," Come on Tiger just make an easy swing, please don't injure your back any further.

They even started speculating as to what Tiger will do. Will he quit and call it a day, or but as Baker-Finch further stated, "no, he's a Champion, he'll finish, he won't quit!

Yes he's going to finish this time and all will say how courageous he was to toil through the pain, though he's showing no signs of any pain. They're making up some great lie just like they did last week when he "Jarred" his back while hitting off an embankment and fell into the sand, again showing no signs of pain, but the media saying that must of been when re-injured his back.

On the Golf Channel's "Live from the PGA Championship," they opened with two minutes discussing the leaderboard, then there was 18 minutes straight of Tiger worship -- "highlights" from his two rounds including his entrance on the grounds Wednesday, then a good portion of his post-round press conference, followed by the network's learned elder Rich Lerner leading a discussion about Tiger's performance and his future. Only then did they begin to focus on Rory and his lead. There were no commercial breaks during Rabbi Lerner's religious ceremony, which is highly unusual given that Golf Channel runs about 25 minutes of advertising per hour.

It just becomes more and more of a cartoon; if the media's ultra-deserved bad karma continues, their idol will never win another major, and nearing 39 and perpetually injured there's a good chance he won't.

Rory is unbelievable. He's crushing his drives. He's sticking his irons. He's a clutch putter. I don't see him losing this tournament.

As for Tiger, his demise has been a joy to watch. The alleged back injury cannot excuse him missing 5 putts inside 10 feet during the 2nd round. He's lost it.

I agree.... What a great day of golf!! I couldn't believe the high quality that was on display on the course today. Rory, Phil, Wiesberger, and a host of others are in contention tomorrow. I was really impressed by Wiesberger today; a complete unknown to me before today, he hit some amazing shots.

Phil and Rory both bounced back well after bogeys in their rounds today. Fowler didn't even make a bogey; he played great too. Just an all-around great day to be a golf fan at the PGA Championship.

I'll be rooting for Phil and Rory to win it tomorrow, but I'd happy if Weisberger, Fowler, Oosthuizen, Stenson, etc. win as well. From watching numerous great rounds of golf today, they are all pretty deserving winners IMO I don't think anybody will be backing into this PGA championship.

As long as the half-Filipino Jason Day or the half-Japanese Rickie Fowler don’t win, it’ll be another victory against the Casteon golf media...

For the media to eventually “forget about Tiger,†it’s most important that Rory wins today. A victory for Phil, a perennial “good guy†and family man, would be nice, too. Failing that, a win for a “nobody†like Wiesberger or Ilonen, or a well-know player without a major victory (Stenson) would be suitable, too.

Absolutely remarkable golf being played right now amongst the leaders as we move to the back nine. 4-5 players with an equal shot at winning it, Rory is right back in it after an eagle on the 10th hole. Phil with a birdie on the 11th to tie Fowler for the lead at -15.
