That had to be the best golf of 4 elites with a chance to win on the final back 9 I have ever seen. I thought at the beginning of the day that Fowler would be the dark horse and steal it at the end. He made an unreal 16th shot on the opposite fairway to stay relevant at the end. Then I thought Phil would close strong, and he did for the most part, but Rory would not be denied especially on the final 10th hole where his second shot on the par 5 rolled onto the putting green. He next eagled it. Game over. He saw the game was his after that with a 2 shot cushion. Congrat! will done.

Great win for Rory, and a great victory against the Caste system!!! Very sweet that it was Rory, taking the torch now it seems from the brat of the past/present...
Spectacular golf yesterday and today, what a memorable tournament.
I was rooting hard for Phil to win as at age 44 he won't have many more chances to win a sixth major. If he had won he would have been the oldest winner of a major since Hale Irwin won the U.S. Open in 1990 at age 45. But I'm still very happy Rory won. Right now he's playing the best stretch of golf by a White golfer since Tom Watson's peak years. More power to him, hope he continues to dominate for the next decade.

I'm with Don on this one. I was really hoping Phil could've pulled it out, but it's awesome Rory was the one to win. He's one of the most talented golfers I've ever seen, and he'll have 10+ majors before it's all said and done. I think Phil will have a couple more chances yet; he keeps himself in great shape, and has the drive to keep competing at a high level for at least a couple more years.
Two of the best days of golf I've seen in a long while.... an awesome weekend!!! Also, a Final round back 9 to remember, with 4 great golfers in Fowler, Rory, Phil, and Stenson going shot for shot for awhile.
Rich Lerner, who appears to be the Golf Channel's chief minister of propaganda, just said Rory "will never move the masses as did Tiger Woods, the multicultural magician."

Wow! Did he say that off the cuff or did it sound scripted/from his teleprompter?
I watch Lerner pretty closely and the programs he's on seem to be a combination of scripts, talking points, and a bit of impromptu banter among the analysts, which is true of the Golf Channel as a whole. Lerner's pretty sharp and presents himself as having "gravitas" and it's highly unlikely any of the other network employees would ever challenge him on his endless talking about Woods. Brandel Chamblee came under attack about a year ago for writing less than completely complimentary remarks about Woods in a golf magazine, and Frank Nobilo seems to be a pretty macho character, but everyone knows Woods is untouchable when it comes to objecting to the media's 24/7 promotion of the "multicultural magician."

As others mentioned, it was the best Saturday/Sunday stretch of any tournament I can remember. The narcissistic black queen, his alleged back injury drama, his humiliating performance, the rain delay, the impending darkness, the success of little-known players interspersed with “superstars,” and the fantastic overall play from a dozen or so players at the top.
I too was rooting hard for Phil, who was the real “magician,” holing countless difficult putts and scrambling to save par before an unfortunate bogey on the 16[SUP]th[/SUP]. Stenson was great, but the pressure seemed to get to him on the back nine. Fowler, who is half-Japanese but passes the “eye test” as “white” to the masses, is a great talent…but I can’t root for him over any white player. It’s a shame that Wiesberger fell apart after looking so good, but he still won $172,000. Hopefully we see more of the powerful Austrian in the future. Older guys like Furyk and Els looked great, also.
In the end, it’s most important that Rory won, as the Caste media seems to crave a lone “dominant” golfer in the mold of Woods. Of course, they’ll always compare him to the odious Tiger, despite the fact that the two are nothing alike, on or off the course. Rory is classy, gracious, humble, and a conducts himself properly (no club-smashing, cursing, yelling at fans, spitting on the green, like Tiger) while playing. Congrats to this great white champion, the player of the year…
