The time by Gemeli was splendid but he did have a 1.7 tailwind which made it easier. We all know that he is more than capable of those kind of times anyway. In this same race, Danny Talbot pushed Gemeli most of the way as he finished 2nd in a new p.b. of 10.14! Other than Dasalou who is always hurt, Gemeli, Kilty and Talbot make up one hell of a relay squad and all of these guys can really fly over both 100 and 200 meters which shows great speed endurance. UK Athletics has some young studs who are only going to get better.

Thanks for all the great updates. I really appreciate the hard work. I get so excited when I see our guys putting up scorching times.

One last thing. When is Michael Tumi, Rytis Saukalauskas and Ramil Guliyev ever going to run? Any info would be great. Thanks.

As best I can tell Tumi had not run at all this year.
Guliyev ran one 60m indoors in Feb., which we reported on. No other races since then.
Rytis Saukalauskas ran indoors and has a 10.66 and 22.05 outdoors this year.
Not very encouraging news for any of them.

Just saw that Rytis Sakalauskas ran 10.40 today.
And my source shows Christian Blum ran 10.20 with 1.5w in Weinheim.

of Christian Reif of Germany who today had a long jump to win the meet of 8.49 meters. Very close to the german
national record of Sebastian Bayer from a few years back. What a fun meet this would have been to have attended.

Devon Allen showed what he could do once spring football practice ended and he could devote himself to track for a couple of weeks. He just ran a 13.27 in the hurdles, making him a genuine threat to win the event at NCAAs as a part-time track athlete and freshman. That's some talent.

Jenna Prandini will be featuring in a Jesse Owens-like four events at NCAA's now after her dominance at regionals.

I looked up some of the really young Euro sprinters:
Simon Schutz has opened his season with a Meh 10.59. He hasn't run a 200 in two years, but that was where his best early times were.
Ryan Gorman (16) opened with a 10.76 and 21.64.

These are all very early season times over there, so I wouldn't get discouraged. Interesting that Hari had someone staying close to him this time. I wonder who it was.

Pierre Amboise-Bosse, Lewandowski, and Kszczot all finished in the mid 1:44's (fabulous early season times), ahead of the legendary David Rudisha, yesterday. All three of them also beat Solomon who had been boasting he would break the US record.

I came here to post the start list as well. Brandon Byram is running with the world elites in the 200m! When was the last time we had a white American sprinter of this caliber who was able to complete at these world class meetings? Kevin Little?

It had to be Kevin Little. In America the standards are so high that you have to be superman to even have a chance to make the team. One of the reasons for that is the good old USA has cheated as much or more than any nation in the world in athletics. We also cover it up and get away with it the majority of time. It's great to see Brandon lining up against some of the worlds best. Hopefully running alongside a runner like the caliber of Lemaire & others will help him continue to push even harder. Byram has elite talent. With the right sponsors, coaching and dieticians, he could go far! Good luck to him and the rest of the guys we root for. It should be very fun to watch!

It could have been Wariner. I recall early in his seasons he would do the occasional 200 meters against good fields. He may have done a Golden/Diamond League meet in Eugene or NYC. Ps nobody mentioned John Teeters who ran a wind legal 10.11 that is as far as I know the fastest time ever by a White American male. He has a good chance of making 100 meter final for US championships let alone the NCAA championship.

John Teeters has me as excited as any american sprinter ever! Remember that he is only a sophmore. What a talent he is! Can you just imagine if he can get under 10 seconds. I see no reason why he can't as long as he remains healthy. It could happen soon but my bet would be at some point next season he will dip under the magical mark. I hope he becomes a household name. So young and so fast!

Teeters

I see that Teeters ran the 10.11 for the fastest qualifying time at the West Regionals NCAA Championships for 100 meters. However, he ran it with a 2.7+ wind. My understanding is that a 2.0+ wind is the maximum allowable for a record. Does the NCAA have its own set of standards for wind?

I'm very excited about Teeters as he's only a sophmore in college.

No even in college it would be listed as a wind aided time. However Teeters has run 10.14 wind legal three times this year. So he is more than capable of running a 10.11 and even faster. It's just a matter of the right time in good conditions with descent competition.:smiley:

Great run by Gemeli. Especially for being stuck out in lane 9. He did it with almost no wind. To be honest, it seemed like Kilty was nervous. That is rare for him but he ran tight. He never had his normal acceleration or any other parts of his race. He ran 10.12 just two weeks ago. I think he just cracked under the pressure of competing in his first diamond league race. He will bounce back.

Lemaitre didn't have the top end speed I'm used to but he is slowly getting faster. At least he was competetive. He finished 2nd but not by much. I'm not making excuses but I've seen him run worse. That being said, it's too late in the year to start over. Hopefully he will get faster each time out like last summer. Man do I miss the Lemaitre of old though.

Guliyev 10.51 (+1.7!) and 21.04 (-0.1) in Turkey.
His promise was never fulfilled and now he's fallen waaay off.....

One of my favorite sprinters Julian Reus ran a 10.12 in the heats earlier today as noted above. He looks to be in good form and I still think he can go sub 10 this summer. He is so close!
