i was actually agreeing with you, in the comments section a guy said it was his 2nd day taking snaps so i figured it was rookie minicamps, haven't kept up with football that much recently, way too early to tell anything about the guy, not sure how he is behind a guy not really practicing yet this year, Hoyer is still recovering from an injury.

Sorry man, I was really upset with that article and didn't realize where you were coming from.

I'm trying to think when was the last time an organization drafted a highly touted player in the first round, QB or otherwise, then proceeded to give out all sorts of negative press about him from the moment he arrived at the team facilities. This is ridiculous and while I hope WL is correct in his assessment, I'm finding it hard to be optimistic right now based on these early steps coming from a crap organization no less.

I don't recall Vick being treated like this. Nobody stated Scott Chandler is the starter act like a back up or nonsense like this. Considering all of the problems Cleveland has had since it's rebirth this attitude compounds the problems......

He emphasized that Manziel's Texas A&M playing style will have to be altered.
"Some of the things that he accomplished in college I don't think are necessarily attainable here,'' he said. "I was with Mike Vick in Atlanta. Had a similar kind of playing style in college. 'I'll just do what I want to do because I'm better than you.' So he can make plays, he can scramble, he can move, he can run and he did those things in the National Football League. But inevitably, you've got to take a little bit of the edge off so they can then start to really hit it as an NFL quarterback and attain greatness.''
He said Manziel will have to know when to fold 'em if he plans to stick around.
"Johnny played a lot of baseball as a kid,'' said Farmer. "I know he knows how to slide. I've seen him slide in college football. "
then he goes on to backtrack mentioning Aaron Rodgers

he mentions "ruining a qb" by putting him in too early, well its not like he is sitting behind Brett Favre but I can see why Cleveland would be reluctant, however he has a great LT and C, and his style of play, at least the running part, helps a qb transition quicker to the NFL.

Maybe they feel he is intelligent enough to learn a new system. While I don't think Vick is borderline retarded like Travis Henry his wonderlic was around the bottom of qb scores. Manziel scored about as high as anybody that didn't go to an Ivy League school. I recall Atlanta tried to tailor their offense around Vick's strengths and limit his weaknesses. If they try and square peg Manziel into the proverbial round hole this will blow up spectacularly.

He's smart enough. I doubt Brett Favre or Bart Starr were high IQ guys either. It's more about having the instincts, the skills, and enough smarts to play the position.

What gets me is that a lot of Manziel's critics say that he won't be able to play the same way he did in the pros and will therefore be a failure.

They act as if Manziel wouldn't be able to figure that out, as if he wouldn't try to develop his game in the pros.

Something to watch for. If Manziel doesn't play like an all pro right off the bat his detractors will immediately proclaim him a failure.

It takes time to develop as a pro quarterback. The anti-whites don't want there to be any white quarterbacks at all so they don't want white players to be given the time to develop.

They'll do this to Manziel.

The anti-whites will work against Manziel's success every step of the way.

If they have designed runs for him in the offense I don't think he ll take long to do well. Qbs that can run tend to have an easier time transitioning then over time it seems they have to become better in the pocket or teams will start to slow them down

Sorensen did extremely well in the 3 cone and 20 yard short shuttle at the combine, showing he has elite agility and quickness.

Sorensen has a good chance of sticking with the Chiefs as a reserve or on the practice squad.

It seems that whites, in general, seem to do well in drills measuring agility and quickness.

I was always really impressed with his athleticism when i saw him play. Ridiculous that he didn't get drafted. Safety is one of the weakest positions in the NFL. Ignoring White talent doesn't help.

Former Tulane receiver Wilson Van Hooser signed a rookie free agent contract with the New England Patriots on Tuesday.The 6-foot, 197-pound wide receiver graduated from Tulane in 2012 after hauling in 55 catches for 805 yards and nine touchdowns in three seasons. He transferred to Troy to be closer to his family during the final year of his college career.
Despite being less a month into his professional career, Van Hooser is already on his second NFL team. He attended rookie mini-camp with the Green Bay Packers before quietly signing with the Patriots just hours before the team’s first organized team activities commenced.
He impressed scouts by making an acrobatic catch behind his back during Tulane’s pro day in April, where he also recorded 40-yard dash times of 4.45 and 4.48 seconds.

Tackling at the DB position is really horrendous. Most black CBs and Safeties launch themselves at players and no one wants to wrap up and bring a player down with a form tackle.

49ers cut Morgan Breslin Thursday. Not a lot of information as to why. Honestly I didn't really think he had much of a chance to make the 49ers anyway, hopefully some other team picks him up... Taking his place on the team is Chase Thomas.

I watched Sorenson for years at BYU and his #9 jersey was permanently around the ball, making tackles, intercepting passes, causing fumbles, recovering fumbles, etc. He’s a big hitter and plays with reckless abandon. Obviously, we all remember his racially-cognizant comments in the week prior to BYU defeating Ole Miss…

"What if we go out there and dominate (at Ole Miss, Sept. 3) and people start seeing us? And they put us on the map, and we're on ESPN. And they start wondering who these kids are – what are they doing with their lives, and why are they so good?" And maybe a bunch of white boys out there go down and beat up on an SEC team, a big, physical team like (Ole Miss)."

They did beat them, by the way.
