Here’s your white starters at Oregon State this year. After dropping to a previously unheard of 5 white starters, Mike Reilly’s Beavers look set to make a recovery this year, with an increase to 8. Watch out for QB Sean Mannion, if he beats out Cody Vaz. Richard Mullaney appears to be the favorite in the battle at WR as well. Some white backups for the Beavers are: FB Michael Balfour, HB Kellen Clute, SLOT WR Mitch Singler, TE Tyler Perry, LT David Keller, LG/C Josh Mitchell, RG Grant Bays, RT Nolan Hansen, LE John Braun, RE Devon Kell, and DT Mana Rosa. Oregon St. started 10 whites in 2007/2008, 13 in 2009, 10 in 2010 and 8 in 2011.I’m hoping the Beavers are able to get back into double digits this next season… it looks like they have a little bit of white depth now. Sadly, the Beavers might very well be one of the whitest Pac-12 teams this year after Stanford.

Offense
QB- Sean Mannion or Cody Vaz
H-B- Connor Hamlett
WR(X)- Richard Mullaney in a fight for the position.
TE- Caleb Smith
RG- Grant Enger
RT- Gavin Andrews

Defense
RE- Dylan Wynn
MLB- Joel Skotte

I am hoping Mannion has a big season. I really like him as a player, perfect prototype QB - just needs to limit his mistakes.

(Since I went to the trouble of computing it, I might as well make use of it.)

Mannion finished 36th in QBE last season with a very good 129.09. That's better than the career number for Geno Smith, Tyler Wilson, and Landry Jones. He gets the ball out quickly and is rarely ever tackled with the ball in his hands. When he is tackled, the average loss is pretty significant (but again, that isn't often). All the supporting stats suggest that Oregon State's offense is highly synched with Mannion's skill set. I've been working on a preliminary combination statistic which combines quarterback play with Phil Steele's "returning experience" stat. OSU is 10th in the country in that list. They ought to have a very good season.

WR Richard Mullaney's bio compares him to Mike Hass and says he "arguably has the best hands on the team". One to watch.

Mannion is currently the best QB in the country yet no one is talking about him on the national stage. East Coast bias cannot be blamed as two black quarterbacks from the PAC 12 - Mariota and Hundley are constantly being slobbered over and touted as potential number 1 picks.

Mannion is a pure drop back passer, he is doing everything for an offense that lacks any running game. He has a great arm, accuracy and great ball placement. His stats up to this point are 67% comp 2511 yds and 25 tds to 3 ints.
