Josh Freeman had an epically bad outing for the Vikings. He went 20 for 53. Really awful.

Meanwhile Tim Tebow doesn't get a shot.
Something else that I found to be amazing is that even in the last two garbage-time series, he couldn't do squat. I think that he only had two completions against a soft prevent defense, the other throws just missed the receivers by a mile. Anybody who has watched any of his "action" the last couple of years with the Buccaneers should be scratching their head and wondering how this "kid" has been handed a starting spot in the NFL, where "only the best players play". Last night's game wasn't an anomoly, it's his normal skill level.

The Vikings starting Freeman smacks of them throwing in the towel. It's too soon for that.

Both Ponder and Cassel are better players than Freeman and give them better chances to win.

Sure, the Vikings had a bad start but they're in a weak division and still had an outside chance.

even rotoworld is ripping him...

Josh Freeman will remain the Vikings' starting quarterback for Week 8.

Freeman was almost indescribably bad against the Giants Monday evening, completing just 20-of-53 passes for 190 yards (3.58 YPA) while airmailing a hard-to-believe number of throws. He left ESPN's post-game commentators speechless. Freeman's short time in the Vikings' system has been a common explanation, but that's no excuse for just how truly inaccurate the former Buc was. Freeman will be a bottom-five option against a Packers defense that made life miserable for Brandon Weeden in Week 7. Christian Ponder might be back under center before long in Minnesota.

Too bad Clay is hurt he would have a field day harassing the overmatched (mentally and physically) Freeman. Either way the Vikings will likely lay an egg against the Packers and it will be refreshing to see Aaron Rodgers show them how the game is played.

A better question is why the Vikings threw the ball 53 times with this inaccurate bum. Why not run the ball 53 times AP and Toby?! The results would have been better! Toby needs to get the hell out of Minnesota.

I saw a comment earlier on another site that made me laugh:

Star Wars stormtrooper > Josh Freeman accuracy

Ponder is better than Freeman. Ponder led the team to the playoffs last year and posted a respectable QB rating. Ponder has been in the league for less time, and despite not playing well this year, has way more upside than Freeman. Ponder is a better QB than Freeman this year too. Ponder is a more athletic scrambler as well.

We are now beginning to see more patience for black QBs than white ones. While I enjoy seeing great QB play white or black, I'm beginning to see the push to slowly make QB a black majority position. Although we are a long way from that happening still, I recall BSPN listing 9 of their top 12 H.S QBs black for college recruiting recently. More than half the QBs at the top of BSPN's Scouting Inc. and WhiteRivals' lists are commonly black, which is ridiculous. It may be a slow process, but we are starting to see some clear and evident discrimination against talented white QBs- and VERY MUCH SO with the recruiting services. And again, the FBS is almost the entire talent pool the NFL draws from- so this is troubling. I want to see the best man play.

The way it should work is if a team is losing and doesn't have many options they can go with a black up Qb but when it's obvious he sucks, then go back to the guy that was good before. Obviously it is not just QB play that is hurting the Vikes. If supaman Peterson can't get any yards then they got more issues then just the QB.

And they have hit the panic button way too early, the division leader is only 4-3 so there is plenty of time to turn it around and go on a winning streak if they hadn't of panicked so quickly. Dumb management decision.

Very true and depressing post Tough J. Riggins. I wasn't around to see the other skill positions darken but this whole QB situation is painfully obvious to anyone paying attention. It's like magically white people can no longer play the position.

Read somewhere that the Vikqueens want Favre to unretire, you cannot make this stuff up. The owners should be fired. As for the HS recruiting I'm no lawyer but I would bet those outfits are RICO bait, and it would take either one lawsuit or one introduced bill into a state legislature to put a kibosh on their steering. Its not just white/black racial discrimination it is the undoubtedly under table cash they take to promote some Javerious over some Taverious.

The Viking's decision to start Freeman was dumb. Their season wasn't over yet.

They should have started Cassel. If he wasn't ready to go they should have started Ponder.

Both Cassel and Ponder are better players than Freeman.

You know that, and I know that. The average DWF looks at Freeman as an unfairly treated STARTING QB that has amazing upside (for some unknown reason ). Even though he stunk up the field against the Giants, and was abysmal in Tampa Bay, the "experts" tell the DWF the usual excuses and that Ponder and Cassell suck, and that's all they need to hear.

The Vikings need to clean house with their coaching staff.

They seem to have some talent but this staff isn't getting the most out of it.

If they got a better coach they might be able to turn next season around the way Kansas City did this year.

It looks like ponder is starting vs cowboys. Frazier gave him the nod and said ponder gave them best chance to win. at least for now frazier is not blind enough to think Freeman is an upgrade.

Audie Cole, the guy who was released three weeks ago to make room for a third offensive tackle in the Washington game, has beaten Henderson out for the starting middle linebacker job for Sunday’s game against the Bears at Mall of America Field.

“Well, Audie earned — from my perspective, along with our coaches’ — the right to start this ballgame,” coach Leslie Frazier said. “We came back on Monday, looked at the tape and verified some of the things that we saw in the game. And you say, ‘How do you just sit this guy down and not give him a chance to show if he can continue this?’

-my 2 cents. Personally, I think Audie should be moved back to his outside linebacker position and replace the worthless Marvin Mitchell, who manages to go entire games without recording a tackle. Michael Mauti should be the starting MLB on this team.

i'd love for Mauti to be more involved, plus snow patrol for Vikings makes sense, now if that happened and Smith comes back plus Sendejo stays on as a starting FS, we'd be looking at 7 starters!

and to boot, Mauti looks like a real viking!

13 tackles (7 solo) in Baltimore yesterday. In a short time, he's nearing 50 tackles.

He's going to be a little bit limited in total tackles, because he's going to have to beat Chad Greenway to the ballcarrier! Could we actually see a majority white defense on the field at some point? When is the last time that happened?

The Rams started a majority White defense for a few games two years ago, and the Browns had a majority on the field at times three years ago during Peyton Hillis's big year. Belichick protégée Eric Mangini was almost as White friendly as his mentor.

Before that there was a long drought although a few teams have started five Whites on defense at times.

Yes, I believe it was a several game stretch during the 2011 season in which the Rams started 6 whites (DT Justin Bannan, DE Chris Long, DT Gary Gibson, LB Chris Chamberlain, LB James Laurinaitis, and FS Craig Dahl).

In 2010, I don’t believe the Browns ever technically “started” 6 whites, but merely had 6 whites on the field at times. DT Brian Schaefering, DE Scott Fujita, OLB Matt Roth, OLB Jason Trusnik, and LB Chris Gocong were starters, and safeties Nick Sorensen and Ray Ventrone came into the game at times. However, as we’ve discussed at length, Chris Gocong passes the “eye test” in uniform, but obviously has some Asian/Polynesian ancestry.

The nerds at rotoworld giveth, a White athlete a compliment, then taketh away by insulting another one.

Vikings RB Zach Line underwent shoulder surgery during his "redshirt" rookie season.

Line was placed on I.R. with a September knee injury, but took the opportunity to have his shoulder repaired. A favorite of measurables-based football metrics sites, Line stands 6-foot, 232 and ran 4.65 at his Pro Day. He's been compared to Mike Alstott. Line is a player to monitor during his first full NFL offseason as a potential in-house replacement for free agent Toby Gerhart at No. 2 tailback.
Wow, surprising they don't call him a fullback and actually suggest he could serve as the backup to the Great Adrian.

So to ensure no one gets the wrong idea that they support White athletes this blurb was posted in succession to the one on Line.

The Minneapolis Star-Tribune does not anticipate free agent Toby Gerhart returning to the Vikings.

"It's hard to see Gerhart back in Minnesota," writes beat reporter Master Tesfatsion. Tesfatsion believes Gerhart has the "talent to be a lead back in the NFL," though we don't agree. Still, investing in a long-term backup for Adrian Peterson wouldn't be a savvy move by Vikings GM Rick Spielman. Expect Zach Line, Matt Asiata, and perhaps a late-round draft pick to vie for the job.
{underline added by me}

So all in all, I'm a bit confused as they seem to be high on Line but bearish on Gerhart? How come? I love Line but Toby is superior to him in production, experience and measurables. Could it be that they know Gerhart is a bigger threat to the Caste System than Line and therefore need to attempt to assassinate his credentials before his free agency process begins?
