Although the Colts are a darker team than some of the previous, they still have a few bright spots, notably QB Andrew Luck and TE Coby Fleener. Here is an article that is about WR Darrius Heyward-Bey and how he is dropping balls left and right in no-pads practice. In the article is this paragraph about another Stanford alum, Griff Whalen:

Another receiver who has done very well so far is Griff Whalen. Griff has to feel very comfortable this season. He's catching passes from his college quarterback while being coached by his college offensive coordinator. He has shown off some impressive catches as well as running some great routes to gain separation from the defense. Although Whalen isn't going to be passing Heyward-Bey on the depth chart anytime soon, his strong performance early in training camp is promising for those hoping he makes the roster.
Based on what is said in the article, for what reason would Whalen NOT have the opportunity to pass up colossal mega-bust Heyward-Bey on the depth chart?? Oh yeah, no mystical magical upside.

The supa afflete is a bust. He's fast but has nothing else. He can't run routes, can't catch, and is lazy. Maybe the smart, gritty, overachiever will stick as a fifth wide receiver.

I’ve read that 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] year Colt WR, Griff Whalen, has been performing great in training camp and is likely a lock to be the 4[SUP]th[/SUP] WR. From Bleacher Report…

At this point, there seems to be five guys that are locks at receiver. They are Reggie Wayne, Darrius Heyward-Bey, T.Y. Hilton, LaVon Brazill and Griff Whalen. All of those guys have been impressive at camp and/or have been locks for some time.

It should be noted that Brazill will be suspended for the first 4 weeks of the season (substance abuse policy), so Whalen should get every opportunity to play in 4 WR sets…

CAPTION: Griff Whalen

I’m glad that Whalen is set to contribute in 2013, as it will re-unite Andrew Luck with former his college receiver. Although, Luck already has his all-star collegiate TE, Coby Fleener, and seemed to ignore him all last season.

The Colts summarily waived safety John Boyett today, after he was arrested for disorderly conduct at a bar, and supposedly told the cops, "you can't arrest me, I'm a Colts player."

Now, this may seem run of the mill behavior, in fact actually less severe than we frequently see from entitled affletes, but Boyett is white, so he had to go. Immediately. Without any questions asked. ESPN ran a story about this on "Mike and Mike" this morning, and both Mikes agreed that releasing him was the only thing the Colts could do. How they keep a straight face saying that kind of thing is beyond me. I suppose they know better than anyone that the DWFs simply are not capable of cognitive thought, of recalling the dozens and dozens of instances where blacks were far more "disorderly" and yet kept their NFL jobs, until the inevitable dropping of charges and/or "sentence" of community service.

Remember a few years ago when a punter got into a VERBAL argument with a taxi driver and was instantly released. Then there was a white WR, sorry I've forgotten his name, who was a bit of a troublemaker for a "white boy," who was accused of punching another man (not a pregnant baby mama or anything like that), and then Denver coach Mike Shanahan made him take a lie detector test and if he'd failed it, the coach said "I'd have cut him on the spot."

The double standard for blacks and whites in all sports now ought to be glaringly obvious to even the dumbest DWF. But it isn't. And that's why we face such a tough road in trying to turn the tide, expose the corruption and topple the Caste System.

Dumb move on Boyett's part but once again the obvious double standard that exists rears its head. If this guy was black - he would of been kept on the team and barely any mention of this story would appear on BSPN.

getting into a bar fight is now considered "wigger" behavior? I find that ridiculous and I find the Colts repulsive with no spine. If it was Daquan 2 game suspension..

i believe Freethinker was talking about his pics

bar fights are fine, but getting sloshed right before a season opening and probably pissing your career away is pretty ****ing dumb. it's not like he was a first round pick! plus he was already on IR.

Yes I was.

I also agree with your point that his behavior was dumb, especially for an injured guy on the roster fringes already. Of course, the punishment was harsh and there is an obvious double standard. Boyett is clearly not aware (especially judging by his wiggerish appearance) that as a White man playing a taboo position the NFL has a zero tolerance policy. Probably the last we see of him.

There is certainly a glaring racial double standard as prominent black athletes are often close to bulletproof due to black skin privilege, but to be fair fringe black players are sometimes also cut after similar types of stupidity.

Andrew Luck, LT Anthony Castonzo, RG Mike McGlynn, ILB Pat Angerer. TE Coby Fleener started yesterday and had a good game, but when Dwayne Allen is healthy he's listed ahead of Fleener on the depth chart, so the answer is 4 or 5. There's not many White backups either; the Polians, particularly Bill, were clearly the reason this team was one of the relatively White friendliest for a number of years, but no more.
